Always a 100yd zero. This allows you to always come up, be it hold over, dialing for elevation, whatever. Otherwise you have to hold or dial UNDER the target.
For my T/C Encore in 308 Win I just zero at 100 yards because the longest sho I have is 225 yards where I hunt. I know where it hit’s at 200 because I’ve tested it. I’m saving up for a scope for my 243 Win barrel so we’ll see when I get that done and select my ammo. If I ever get to hunt at longer ranges I’ll probably sight in for maximum point blank range.
I always use to sight in 1.5 high at 100 in anticipation of that 200-250 yard shot, but after almost 30 years of hunting the mid coast of Maine and having 2 shots in those 30 years be over 200 and almost all others under 50 I realized dead on at 100 will work for anything I need to do.
To save on ammo. For many years I have always sighted dead on at 25 yards for my 308, currently shooting 165 gr SST Superformance. This brings me about 2.5"up at 100, 2.0"up at 200, and 4.5" at 300. This has always worked for me on whitetail as long as I can remember. Thanks for the vid and information !
I can see sighting in like you are if a person has only simple cross hair reticle. Or if a person wants to aim at one point for all distance. That way of sighting in makes perfect sense. Personally I like to sight on at 100yd and use a bdc reticle and I'm good out to 400yds though I limit myself to just over 300yds to be sure of things especially if there is much wind.
I'm glad I waited till the end of the video before I commented. I shoot a 270 with Barnes 130 grain tipped TSX bullets. I'm sighted in 1 inch high at 100 yd and comfortably hold dead on out to 250 without worrying about it which is about as far as I feel comfortable taking a shot on live game.
Sight in all my rifles 1.5-2 inches high at 100, measure where my point of impact is for drop at 200 and 300 and work it from there. Has always worked for me. Love the 7mm-08 barrel on my Encore Pro Hunter so much I bought a .22 Hornet barrel for it about 12 years ago.
I finished the north Carolina season yesterday in my tree lounge. I had my 3030 pistol and my 308 encore 26' high polished ss finish barrel..it had my Leopold 3x9x40 on the rifle..I swear it is missing one turret cap..In my 308 I shoot federal gold medal match 169 grain with a Limbsaver x ring
Back in the day, guys used to sight in for MPBR. Now guys don't even know what that is. That is really the best way to sight in, if you are using a rifle scope with no reference points, or you can't dial. Some scopes are "set and forget". Since I use the Burris FFII 3-9x40 with the ballistic plex reticle on all of my "hunting" rifles, I sight in for 100 yards, most times, or wherever I'm sighted in at 400 yards, with the 4th hash mark down. Sometimes that means 1" low at 100 yards. I just posted a video with one of my elk hunting rifles, shooting at 400 yards on a steel coyote. Check that out, and you will see what I'm talking about. With that scope and rifle, I easily shoot and hit 10" steel plates at 500 yards, then quickly go back to the 100 yard 2" steel plate. At 100, I could easily hit a 1" spinner, and then using the reticle, walk it right out to 500 yards, ringing steel all the way out. That's keeping it simple, guys..
I zero at 100. If necessary, I will dial elevation for distance. However, the impact velocity is my primary consideration. If I want to strike at no less than 2,000 fps (those most rounds can do the work at 1800 fps,) then that limits the .308 factory ammo I have to a smidge past 200 yards. My visual comfort zone is out to 300 yards. And living in the south with dense woods, most deer shots are going to be less than 300. On some public land that is overgrown with trees and bushes, you are luck to get up to 50 yards. The longest distance I have ranged on some public land is 225 yards. But I also get the 200 yard zero or MPBR. It's a quicker shot based on having the 8 inche pie plate strike zone to hit lungs and heart.
I can't wait to get my hands on the new generation of these rifles. I love the several I own. Are there any plans for having an arca rail or plate on the bottom?
Great video. I always zero @ 100 then dial or hold for distance. Two questions for the TC man…. 1) Will 25-06 be an option with the Encore? 2) When can I buy one!!!!!????
A hack to this is to zero at 100. Plug your load and rifle info into a ballistics calculator. Then look at what it says for 200 yards and dial the scope to that and leave it there. Then you’ve effectively “zeroed” for 200 yards
Really bad signing in. All of my scopes have a cross section and dots on the center lower . All of my scopes are sighted in at 100 yards and I use the dots if the target is more than 100 yards away and I will see how much wind is going on around target by grass, leaves, any kind of items that the wind will move easily. I leave them on each rifle barrel that I signed in so I don’t need to worry about each barrel of my Encore or Contender. I use to shoot open sights when I was younger but now I use scopes for longer range shooting and I use my hillside to sighting in down range to its more accurate than range shooting straight that’s my, best for me.
Your scope canter is off, that's why you are left and right off when further or closer away, I get you said there is wind, but the windage cannot shift with the distance(left of bullseye/right of bullseye) unless canter is off....

I work with the metric system in Hungary. I have a Remington 700 VTR in .380 Winchester with a Burris 4.5-14x42 with Ballistic Plex crosshair. My ammo is Hornady SST 168 grain. Factory recommandations aren't valid becuse we hve a short barrel. So I started experimenting. 100 meter zero resulted the 200 yard cross being dead on accurate on 150 meters metric. A wee hold over do it just right on 200 meters. The 300 yards cross do the 250 metric distance. Plus I have a red dot on the scope and a weaver rail for white light just in case of white light needed for tracking after dark. The red dot have a zero on 25 meters metric. The red dot also come handy when we call jackals red foxes and roe deer. Fool proof little system. This is the practical use behind the designe of the Burris. No tacticool BS just country man use it on a hunt.
Know your scope, load and dope. I switched to a 3x9 BDC years ago for .30-06, 180 gr Rem Core Lokt... it's magical. The 180gr is excellent all around, puts meat on the table at any distance I'm comfortable killing an animal at. I can't remember the last time I didn't use a Mil-Dot or BDC on a scope. If I'm hunting brush, then it's open sights on a lever gun. When I'm hunting with a scope, I still tape a dope card to my rifle. At my age, I hunt from a blind or a hidden fixed position usually, then I just map out the distances to knowns. then just assign a BDC circle to it with 1 being dead-nuts. Do I miss, sure do, but only when naked ladies are riding around on the deer. lol
This is how we sight-in in Montana 5 inches high at 100 yards- until you cannot make out the eyeballs hold right at the bottom of the ribcage when you can’t make out the eyeballs anymore hold top of spine- if you need binos you’re too far away 😂
Please chamber the new barrels a bit longer so we can seat those long high bc bullets and have more room to play with seating depth. 15 thousands over saami I can’t close the rifle.
Here is an idea for the stock. Create a negative heel and negative comb. Please the industry is so far behind on stocks. Barbour creek stock lines is what drives better accuracy.
3" high at a 100yds was a Jack O'Connor standard. I sight all of my guns that will be shot in the 300-400 yard range and it puts me right where I need to be. At 300 yds I'm still in the heart- lung area for deer or elk, and a 400 yds I put the crosshairs on the top of the back. It's always worked well for me. It's simple and effective . Keep up the good work, I'm looking forward to T/C being up and running again.
This is where almost every hunter gets confused. I prefer to sight my rifle in at first crossing of 25 yards this makes my zero about 450 yards making everything + up to the distance.
What distance do you sight in your hunting rifle at?
3" high at 100, PBR 0 to 275.
l would 0 at 150 yards.......Thank you sir.

I can’t zero it in because I’m still waiting on the new encore 😂

Sounds like a good system!
❤ TC and always ready to provide good information for hunter/shooters! It's not always just about their product.

Waiting patiently for the green light to buy a new TC Encore
Alright...give us an update on when y’all is going live on the product line! Trying to be patient
Hey from the Catskills. Here zeroed at 100 works ,ironically in many farm areas where you could shoot longer its shot gun. Thanks for your videos.

Great advice!! Looking forward to Hunting in the 603 next season with a pro hunter in 308 or 270 win!

We like how you're thinking
Any chance these will return to market in my lifetime? Thanks in advance.

Any date when the web site will be up and running. Also when will product be up for sale. Great you tube videos.
The early part of this year - stay tuned.
@@TCArmsCo Thank you, looking forward to it. I may be old but you never have enough toys.

Boy, I wanna come hunt with you! Lol that just don’t happen here, lol
Do you plan on building the icon rifle again. Hopefully you will. Especially in TC30 caliber

Long story short it is not just the zero of you scope you need an adjustable scope to help with elevation and windage.
The barrel latch may may allow lateral movement causing left or right of center hits. How tight is the lock up?
Contenders are like rabbits. I started with a G2 30-30 carbine. Now I have 2 frames and a dozen various carbine and pistol barrels.
Cant wate for Tc to be back in stores. Do you have any plans for camo stock and forend for contender and g2 contender?
I'm sighted in at an 1inch high at a hundred and she is dead on at 240 yards is the farthest I've had to shot ,Remington 700 308 sps tactical !
How accurate can they be with those pencil barrels...
Please offer some heavier barrels?
I zero my 308, 150gr Partition at 25 yards, never more than 3 inches high or low out to 270 yards.
308 for elk, 243 or 6.5 for deer and antelope
When?? When will T/C be available?
When are we going to be able to buy these again, new ones?
T/C makes the most accurate muzzleloader
Please chamber the new barrels a bit longer so we can seat those long high bc bullets and have more room to play with seating depth. 15 thousands over saami I can’t close the rifle.
Is it possible to manufacture a 338 cal?
The woods I sit are so thick, Im only shooting bow ranges, if one should expose itself, lol
Here is an idea for the stock. Create a negative heel and negative comb. Please the industry is so far behind on stocks. Barbour creek stock lines is what drives better accuracy.
Why don't the shell eject when you open it???????? It take to long to pull them out manually!
Because it doesn't have ejectors!
I dont see any wind blowing the brush around those targets lol
you missed orange ribbon on his left at edge trees
So what's the MBR?
Or zero at 100 yards and use the CDS system on that Leupold 😅
3" high at 100 yards works for most everything the average hunter is going to shoot.
Seems to be a popular choice!
I zero most of my rifles at 30 yards. That will usually get you hits on a man sized target beyond 300.
This is where almost every hunter gets confused. I prefer to sight my rifle in at first crossing of 25 yards this makes my zero about 450 yards making everything + up to the distance.
You lost me when you said flat shooting 308
That’s why I don’t shoot a .308😂 good video.
👍
The cameraman is casting a shadow on you and the guns. Very distracting.
If I'm shooting 100 yards then something is wrong! All my shots are within 50 yards!!!!!!!!!!!
Who cares!
Yeah yeah just start selling encores already
first!
Second
Or you just use the adjustable turret on the Leupold CDS.
