I love that the shoes have zippers, how perfect! I think my nephew needs something like this. He's 7 is an extreme toe walker as well. He falls over all the time because he leans forward too so it's a safety issue IMO. Been trying to get my BIL to get him checked out
Billy footwear & friendly shoes are amazing adaptive shoes [both with the zipper, I use both actually] also target has many adaptive brands.
Great
Get an appointment with orthopedic and explain the way he walks and you would like the child seen…. Then ask about the brace they should suggest something to you. I hope this will help good luck
@@Seifadeene1 it’s not her kid, it’s her nephew so she unfortunately can’t take him to the doctor unless she gets permission from the parents.
My mom told me my feet was going outward and she told me to fix it dhe just switch my shoes. The left in my right feet and the right in my left. It... helped but i do still walk strangely and not really straight my friends told me 😂
I didn't know braces like these existed to help with these issues. I was an extreme toe walker, and I didn't stop till I was about 12 to 13 years old. I am severely pigeon-toed and my hip/femur bones are rotated inwards. I've had multiple surgeries for it but I still do not walk completely straight. It's great to see solutions for these! It'll save them from a sportless future and lots of terrible leg pain.
K what is toe walking?
@@Meow-hi8zn clues in the name … 🤦♀️ walking on their toes, tip toeing almost. the back part of their foot doesn’t touch the floor

A doctor suggested braces for me as a child and my parents said no because they didn't like how they looked...
My left leg and hips are not messed up because of it. It's not irreversible, but it could've been easily prevented 🙃
I'm confused on what would have been easily prevented

Mine just decided to not get a time sensitive surgery (had to do it before my growth plates closed) because it wasnt a huge issue when i was younger but now i can barely pass a physical because my hip bones literally stop me from being able to move certain ways
I was a toe walker that they tried fixing with braces. They later learned it was due to a deformity that required surgery. Those braces hurt and I hated them. Bless you for taking such good care of your little ones.
what part of them hurt? i have a family member who uses them, but shes never mentioned the pain
@@shevahauser1780 they shouldn't have, but they were trying to fix something that didn't exist since the reason I was a toe walker was not fixable with braces.
I was also a toe walker, except mine caused my tendon to harden in the wrong spot. So I was physically unable to walk normal.
Omg that’s the cutest shoes. Those kids are blessed you have taken care of them. There are kids in my school who need things like these orthotic braces.
I and my sister had to wear correction shoes in the 1970s. I walked on my tiptoes all the time. The more that I learn I realise my mom put up with lots of hard things. I see symptoms of autism in all my siblings. Just not a thing at that time. It makes me even more grateful and understanding. We are and we’re great kids but we were challenging. I was reading The Hobbit in first grade alone. I got put in kindergarten at 3 tuning 4 in two months in California. I knew how to read, write and do basic math. I was always far ahead of my classmates. I often helped the other kids.
Your generation and even mine later on grew up being called "quirky" if we displayed a few spectrum traits. Today I'd fall very mildly under the Asperger's label, or to put it in current context, very mildly on the spectrum. Autism =/= lack of intelligence, because I was like you, reading by age 2 and them wanting to bump me ahead twice in my elementary school years for being intelligent and too far ahead of my the other kids. Both times my parents refused because "she's super shy." Go figure. My job is with the public and I live by myself and manage my own affairs, but when I'm home, I want to be left be, period.
I’m like that too :). Good to know I’m not alone.
Thank you so much I have never seen these my son is 23 he wears an AFO he's warn it since about age 1 I will definitely be showing him these thanks again so much
As someone with autism who had severe toe walking problems from the day I could walk, it's really important to fix this at a young age. I've had to have numerous surgeries to fix this problem now that I'm an adult. It caused so much pain after walking, the surgeries themselves cane with different pain but it's much more tolerable than before.
I have autism (adult diagnosis) and was a big toe walker as a kid. My parents got me a brace but never told me what it was for or why I had to wear it. It was uncomfortable so, as an autistic child with sensory issues, I rarely wore it. Luckily I grew out of the toe walking after a while so it didn’t cause *too* many issues
As an adult, I’m incredibly pigeon toed due to unstable joints from EDS. We couldn’t afford braces growing up, and it’s caused a lot of postural issues later in my life, for anyone curious 💕
could you tell me what pigeon toe means?
@@green-spectre my legs and feet curve inward so my toes point in and brush when I walk (I’m really hard on shoes lol) people whose feet point out dramatically are called duck-footed lol
@@LGSW-mh2vz interesting, thanks for getting back to me
I walked that way due to being mostly blind and not being able to use a cane, and ooooh boy have i learned how to correct my walking as an adult. (PS they make adult SMOS that you can print out with a 3D printer! I had to contact a custom maker in NYC but totally worth the $250!)
I’m sorry, but I just had a mental image of a pigeon toed zebra… 🤣🦓🦓🦓
All their little shoesies are pretty dang cool tho😊especially the black and pink🖤🩷
Wow! Things sure have changed. Those shoes & braces are great. I had to wear little baby shoes with just a plain steel bar between them to keep my feet from turning in. I was just a baby/toddler so wasn't running around much.
This is great! Early intervention. I had shorten Achilles tendons which caused the walking from birth til aged 12 when I finally got them operated on. Spent all year 6 in casts. Wish we had this when I was a toddler
My brother had a foot turned in side ways he got surgery when we was born the got shoes with a bat in between the shoes we wore those until he could walk and now he is perfectly fine a can run really fast, but he can’t play soccer or football anything with the feet or ankles he can’t do. He plays baseball and loves it❤
Billy shoes are so amazing for braces. Also some of my students with special needs who don't have braces wear them as well and they make many things smoother
Please forgive me for asking this question, I don't mean it in a bad way but is it true that all this is hereditary? I ask that because of the 6 children, 3 have to wear SMO's?❤️
When i was young i remember i walked with my feet pointing in. Literally my parents just told me every time they saw me doing it. And so did every adult i was around. It got annoying so i learned to stop it 😌
I don't know why but this reminded me of Forrest Gump
Maybe because he also used show braces?
But his problem was in the spine.
i wore these since i was a baby, Thank God i dont have to wear these anymore . But i do wear a corset like this for my scoliosis
It's so awesome that you are able to get them braces and the help they need now as they are growing.
Our oldest son was extremely intoed and knock kneed. His first doctor didn't recommend braces and hoped he would "outgrow it". Unfortunately, that did not happen. And he ended up having major surgery To straighten his legs when he was eight years old. He spent the better part of a year in a wheelchair braces and physical therapy. We found out later that braces are sometimes used for this condition and may have helped him avoid surgery.
They are so cute indeed precious. God bless
I was like “wow 3/6 is crazy what’re the odds” but then as the video went on I realized that, had my mom actually taken us to the doctor about it, 3/4 would’ve needed the same things. Dang, maybe my ankles wouldn’t be so messed up if I wore those when I was little..
My daughter's feet were turned in quite a bit, thankfully sticking with chiropractor visits for a while cleared that up😅 She used to not run because she would trip over her feet...
Billy Shoes are so good for afos. I spent months trying to find shoes for my 2yo that would fit since she's got such short but wide feet. Billy's sizing options are AMAZING. It used to be such a fight to put shoes on, now she'll come running in excitement when it's time to get ready for the day.
So is it a genetic thing or a developmental? What causes the feet to do that?
In most cases it’s genetic as not all but many kids toe walk while learning how to walk at first but quickly out grow it after around 2 if they continue it’s a sign of a medical problem they need to be checked now there are varying degrees of this problems the least they need these on for awhile but not to long to help at the most extreme surgery is recommended as these wouldn’t help to well
It can be both - autistic children sometimes walk on their toes due to sensory issues (can't handle the feeling of feet on the ground), and that can cause their calf muscles to tighten up and make it impossible to get the heels on the ground.
Some children are also born with a shortened achilles tendon, which I was as well, but it's less common. I'm also autistic, but don't have sensory issues with walking barefoot on most surfaces. Night splints were a pain though.
I grew out of it so I didn't need braces bit my sister did
These have changes so much since my brother worn them !
Hope they help you guys 💜
Best shoes ever. My son has worn billy shoes for years. They are a game changer for anyone who has had to deal with trying to get shoes on a toddler with braces.
I have a brother who wears AFOs, and the Billy's are a real life saver.
Kiziks are another great shoe for orthotics and they let the child be more independent in putting them on as they require less fine motor skills. My daughter’s AFO’s are too wide for most Billy’s (except the boots she just got a pair of rain boots but she got them for fashion) and she can’t do the zippers bc of her limited range of motion and fine motor skills. With the Kiziks I can put them on her toe, and she uses my shoulder or a wall or the footplate of her wheelchair to push her foot in and the only thing I need to help with is occasionally fixing the tongue placement and that’s only bc her orthotics are wide.
PLAE is another good brand and they velcro and you can change the velcro (they’re removable) to a longer size in order to accommodate orthotics. We used those until the last year when she decided they’re not cool anymore so she wanted something different with her new AFO’s.
I never knew that toe walking was a sign of autism before. I was recently diagnosed on the lower end of the spectrum but I never thought this would have any correlation, I didn't even think much about it at all. It's like biting your nails or breathing, it's just a thing you do without thinking.
It's not always though. I still toe walk as an adult and I don't have any autistic tendencies otherwise. I think it's really common in autistic children but that is by no means a concrete diagnostic symptom.
It's not always.
Did u take your pregnancy folic acid???? Lack of it causes this.
Is there somone in your family that they got there disabilities from? I hope that's not rude
So many medical issues. The medicaid paperwork for 6 kids must be immense.ĺ
I definitely needed afos to stop turned hips but this wasn't a much of a thing when I was a kid. So happy they have such helpful things
I had to wear brace's on my legs and feet, you are so lucky to have cute shoe options, I had 1 choice, ugly dark brown booties of course this was in 1962 and i think i wore them for about 7 years. I'm currently finally getting a real diagnosis as to what's wrong and it's Ehlers Danos Syndrome.
My sister has cerebral palsy and wears AFOs. And let me tell you something, Billys are incredible
You are an AMAZING family.
Them billy shoes look so cool. Im jealous.
You are wonder woman mom and your husband or me is wolverine Dad or Thor dad and having that many kids in taking care of the mall is so stinking cute 🦊🍪❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥🔥🔥🔥🌑
Yay! A shout out for Billy Shoes! I wear AFOs and for over 35 years I couldn't get a good pair of shoes (that were age appropriate) for my AFOS until I found Billy. I've actually met the founder and he's super nice!
goodness, i don't know if they are adopted, or if the genetic lottery said that 3 kids was enough... poor kids.. I hope they will be well looked after, by the doctors, physiotherapists, and of course the parents. Hopefully they won't remember the struggle when they were young, they are too precious!
Well i sure hope those braces help your adorable children to the utmost. 👍☺️
My brother was a toe walker. He didn't require braces. He did a steady program of physical therapy, no braces.
these names😭
my mom just constantly told me to put my heels down, and my dad helped me correct my running form so that my heels toiuches the ground. the toewalking wasn't extreme, and thankfully only required reminders. hopefully the braises helps the kids find a sustainable and comfortable way of walking for their bodies!
I wish they had those shoes when I was growing up for my afo’s . Had to go on the hunt for DAYS and sometimes took couple cities/towns traveling to get some it would fit in. Never could get little girl shoes cuz it wouldn’t fit the width, im so happy kids get a choice of pattern now as well as shoes that make things so much easier as well.
Honestly I love watching your videos my little sister also wears leg braces to so I love watching your videos bc they remind me of my sister
Your kiddos are absolutely adorable!! That's all I wanted to sat
Thank for educating us! 🎊🎉👍🙏😊❤️
WOW, love it. Parents that understand how important the right footwear are for little children. Wonderful.
Wow I never knew they made those kinds of shoes, pretty good design.
i'm so glad I saw this I work in a shoe store . This will help me out so much so I can talk to customers. great mom God Bless
My mom had to wear these growing up because she was severely pidgeon toed, and she recalls getting made fun of a LOT, so i PRAY TO GOD that nobodys picking on your kids for simply having feet, like thank god that He gave them feet and legs. Ill fight anybody that wants to say smth bad like my moms classmates did. 💪🏽🤚🏻
Blessings to you & your family, Thank you for sharing I need these kind of shoes !! Awesome thank you !
Are feet braces an American thing? Ive never seen them in Europe.
I used to wear mine in Mexico when I was a toddler. My mom also taught a teenage girl with feet braces when she was a teacher in Mexico.
My neighbour used it here in Brazil.
What you do in Europe when a kids is toe walker?
@@AramatiPaz from my experience they will punish you untill you don't do it again out if fear. I have never seen feet braces but I do have extra soles? Means they correct the bottom of my feet so it corrects my x legs
@@AramatiPazmy dad is from England and he was a toe walker. His dad just forced him to walk on flat feet and his mom just ignored it.

Omg I wish I had this growing up I was always yelled at to stop walking like that one of my foots turn in and I just can't help it
One of my students wears leg braces too and recently started wearing Billy shoes. We spend way less time now getting his shoes on. Heaven!
Sending you all of my good vibes-much respect!
I did not know these shoes existed and it’s been a nightmare trying to find shoes that fit my daughter SMAFO’s that weren’t too big!!! RUNNING to go get some!!!
Billy shoes are incredible! I worked with a girl that wore AFOs and the Billy shoes were a God send, not to mention how cool they look!
Very interesting. I have been walking on my toes for long time. But I guess it different.
You take wonderful care of your kids ❤️
Ummmm...
I hope at least some of these kids are adopted...
Why?
I wear AFO's also and I want a pair of them shoes. My Dr wears a pair of them shoes.
I love Billy shoes! I’m a sped teacher for some kiddos with quite a few disabilities and I don’t know how we would get through a day without those shoes!
I am on the autism spectrum, in my late 30s. I only realized in the last few years I have a mild tendency to walk on my toes, but only if I do not have shoes on.
Billy shoes are some amazing.
Oh my days, these shoes are crazy cool! How things have changed. My baby brother was born with his feet completely backwards. He wore casts home from the hospital and wore braces for quite some time. He's now in his 40's but believe me, the shoes were not pretty. They came in one, maybe two colours, white and tan, navy if you were really lucky. Hats off to the engineers and designers of these shoes!
You're such a loving mother!
I used to wear braces as a kid too, one was a Barbie brace that went up to my ankles and I also had to wear derotation straps, which my mom called the derotation straps the braces from hell cuz I would try to wiggle myself out of them at school so my teachers would have to would it back on, I wore both at the same time and ended both at the same time, It suprised me how young I was cuz I was a baby when I started wearing them, and I stopped wearing them at either 4 or 5 cuz I hated them and I’m suprised it worked because I only had to wear them at school and then I would take them off, doesn’t surprise me that I have sensory issues cuz I have adhd which is with certain foods and clothing, I’m suprised I walk good and don’t walk werid and my feet is straight, you I guess can tell a little bit of not straightness if your looking hard but I’ve heard that that’s pretty normal for most people because the main thing they fix is making sure to avoid kids falling and getting hurt from the way their feet are, which I had that problem growing up, It was inward, which is also called pegion toed, so my feet is good now, and my hip too cuz apparently my hip was werid growing up too which it what the derotation straps were for and both worked to where I don’t have issues in that part
Do you think it's genetic ? Looks like you have a lovely family ❤
Looking at all the kids, there's definitely some genetical problem, unfortunately
That's what I was curious about too.
Seems like nearly all their kids have some form of life altering disability. Assuming no one is adopted, both parents are absolutely carriers for at least one seriously screwed up gene. Not sure how to feel about them having so many kids when each one came out severely ill.
Thank f*ck someone already asked, because I would've been a bit rough with my kinda question.
It's kinda selfish if you constantly have kids w disabilities to keep on having more kids imo
They are also amazing shoes for special needs children! I work with special needs kids and some of them have these shoes and they are so easy for us workers! And I respect you so much! You are doing amazing💗
My brother used to wear foot braces as well as having special inserts for inside his shoes. It was always a struggle to get them in him due to the fact that we had to untie, literally shove his foot in, and then attempt to put it back in him without causing problems with the equipment. So happy that they found accommodating shoes for their kids!
As someone who used to have something similar I would just insert into my shoes, I sincerely hope your children don't grow up to have any major walking issues or feet pain like I did! Make sure to always check on them just incase they may be feeling a little pain! Beautiful family though, and your care for them shows!🤗🤗
Your kiddos are so dang adorable! Hopefully they will be able to adjust and not need them one day. I had a foot issue when I was younger. My foot was bent clear to my shin. Luckily it was fixed with physical therapy but I almost had to wear braces too.
They're awesome shoes
Wait, me toe walking all the time might be because I'm autistic? Crazy!
i would have loved to wear those shoes after surgery and wearing those- it would have made things so much easier! I'm so glad you have access to them
I would suggest to get Lindy into dance if possible. It corrected my feet and helped immensly (I walked inwardly for years and latin helped)
Is it just me or did y’all think of Bella and the bulldogs when she said “sawyer”
I used to have Afos and I loved Billy shoud
Ok 1, where was the AFOs when I was little I’m pigeon toed and trip over myself a million times a day! And 2, those metal leg braces reminded me of “run forest run!” I love it
Damn I wish I had those as a kid, they look more comfy, short tendons for life. My tendons were so short I couldn't put my foot flat after years of casts and splints and extreme exercises till I was around 10 (my mum stopped caring for my needs when my sister got Ill for 2 years) I can't really walk up the stairs, or up hill, can't run and after 5 mins of walking my legs hurt, but I've got to push on 🙂
Im so happy for your kids.
I m walking inwards with my right foot and that since I was a child, but none really noticed. Now I need to fix that on my own, or I will have severe back pain when I get older, and that sucks.
Amazing! Perfect shoes!
That last kid is primed to rock hard on a snowboard! Just solid locked in…
Trying to be positive here if it wasn’t obvious. My 7 year old is autistic and skiing for 3 years now. His autism manifests as violent rage when triggered. Slowly destroying my family. Breaks my heart to see kids with challenges. Best I can do is support you the only way I know how.
Lindseys shoes look awesome
My nephew’s strange gate has been dismissed by his toronto pediatrist as of no concern (‘it’s common … he’ll grow out of it’).
I’m glad you popped up in my feed … hopefully there will be lots of useful medical info here.
I walked with my feet turned in at her age and they just told my mom to put my shoes on the wrong way ( Left shoe on right foot etc.) and it worked
My son is just starting to walk and he has always loved the jumper I think that’s what has taught him to toe walk, hopefullyy it goes away in time but I will totally be getting him checked out anytime we see the his ped
It’s amazing how far medical technology has come ❤
My son has worn Billy’s with his afos for years. He’s in an adult size now and I can still get them! He’s 16 ❤
Im 22 and still walk on my toes sometimes my parents never cared about me this much I mean they also refuse to believe my autism diagnosis soooo😅
I’m 21 and to this day I have a habit of walking on my tiptoes. I try to force myself not to but it gets so uncomfortable sometimes.
I'm 19 years old and I still toe walk a lot I didn't even know that toe walking was bad
I love to see how much nicer and more discreet these braces have become. The old style ones were mostly metal, big, squeaky, clanky, and difficult to move in. Plastic braces that can be hidden in shoes plus slim cables is such an improvement. I'm sure it's much easier for Sawyer to run around and play in them, too.
Disclaimer: I'm not saying that wearing braces is bad or should be a big deal, but people stare at new and different things, and kids that age haven't yet learned how to fully process their thoughts without blurting out questions and comments that could be rude or hurtful.
I have vitiligo that kicked up in middle school. Even kids THAT age and some adults were often rude or obviously weary. I used to hear all kinds of rude things. Now, when little kids stare, I have a quick and cute way to sort of explain my spots. Parents usually respond positively to me taking a minute to reach out and explain something to their child. I always ask if it's okay first. 😊
These shoes are so awesome. I'm in AFO. I'm 36 and have CP and have never seen these shoes before.
i’m pigeon toed and ive already had to have knee surgery when i was 14 i’m 18 now and i’m just waiting for the other knee. i wish my parents would’ve gotten me braces like this instead the doctor wanted to break my legs
My daughter, had braces ❤ keep growing strong kids!! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
I toe walk almost everyday due to unknown reasons (possibly autism) and I’m trying to stop. These would be helpful honestly and the shoes are so cool!
I need these shoes! I have orthotics for my very flat feet, and it takes so long to get them in the right place in my shoes. Before my orthotics, I was borderline knock-kneed and my feet turned wayyy outwards to combat this. I could barely walk without being in pain. When I was 8, I was camping and I got two HUGE blisters on my arches, but I never get blisters anymore with my orthotics!😊
Thank you so much for sharing this.
