I had cat hair stuck in the junction between the coupling and the roller support. It was stopping the roller from continuous movement. This was the only video that helped!
It wasn't a blockage for me! I took the bin of the main part off and wiped clean with a wipe or alcohol the metal contacts on the little bin compartment itself and used a cotton bud/ear cleaner on the contacts on the main hand held part of the vacuum. Works much better now!
Actually the same thing happened to me. I went through every step and I still couldn't get it to spin. When I got to the end and I pulled the roller brush out I noticed all the way at the end by the spring, the opposite end of where you open the brush head there was a little bit of Gunk wrapped around those gears and the spring. I got some hot water in there and a toothbrush and cleaned it up and not works perfectly. I suspect that's what's happening with yours
I have no blockages and my brush bar is perfectly clean. It spins fine on tile floors. But I don’t need the brush for tile floors, I need it for My low pile carpets and every time I try to vacuum the low pile carpet the brush stops spinning. It’s spins super fast but the minute I put it down on the carpet it stops. I have an older Dyson canister vacuum DC 23 and the brush bar does not have any kind of setting depending on your floor type…such as low pile or high pile, etc. it only has hardwood/tile (brush off), or carpet (brush on). The carpet brush on setting never ever works it always stops spinning the minute I tried to vacuum the carpets. Is there any other motorized head attachment for the DC 23 that has multiple settings for multiple carpets and floor types that actually work on carpet?
Useful guide. Thank you. I’ve had blockages in all of the areas checked here. And it’s fixed it in the past. But now it’s doing something very odd- it spins for the first second, pauses just once, then won’t spin. There is no spin , stop, spin, stop like usual. Any ideas?
My DC 35 has a different issue with smilar symptoms. Both power heads nly run 8ntermittently via the wand but fine when connected directly to the body. There seems a poor connection via the wand but i am not sure how to try and fix this. It seems the distal end where it cnnects to the power brushhes and if I manipulate the angle of connection enugh it works fine. Any suggestions appreciated…
I have a problem with my V7 Animal. So it’s not been mentioned on the video nor in the comments but basically the rotary brush (for carpets) works but seems to be vibrating loads. Not really sure why because I’ve taken it apart and declogged all the fluff and hair but that doesn’t seem to be the root cause. When the rotary brush is disconnected the hoover works fine, and even when it’s connected but the brush is taken out the bearing spins fine. What would be causing the rotary brush to vibrate loads? I thought maybe something had got bent but if it had it wouldn't align properly with the cap (you use a coin to open). Anyone got any ideas? It’s definitely not a blockage. Blockages tend to result in on and off power.
Yea well I do that regularly - hair tangle etc. It was working happily before last empty- I’ve cleaned the other end (to the one you show wher brush fits on spindle..but still no joy
Blockages should've been obvious things to check. I wanted to know beyond blockages. This was for a 1st grader
I tried all of those steps before I watched your video. Any other ideas? Also, Howe do I blow if the roller is getting power?

Hi Amy, thank you for your comment. Pleased to hear our video has helped you get the roller working again!

Hi, thanks for your comment and for sharing your own experience of how you have improved the performance of your vacuum!
I thought I would find out what to do if the brush doesn’t spin at all when there are no blockages ☹️
Same. No blockage here but still no spinning 😢

Yes!.. the first few seconds tbe nothing
My brush bar spins only at 25 degree angle, if it is up to 45 degree angle it doesn’t spin. Can you help?
It's helpful thank you
Hi, thanks for your comment...hopefully your vacuum is spinning okay!
Show us what we don't know please. I've took mine all apart but the bar is still not spinning

No blockages so you're no help
Thanks Karen!
Same with me
@@ps2onboard You're the Karen. This is my issue as well, no blockages so this video is not helpful for my problem.
These units are notorious for blockages and poorly designed. Hair wrap is also a constant problem.
