I'm getting asked these a lot, so here's clarification. This does not work in Emerald. You can redeem Jirachi as many times as you want. You only need to complete Pokemon Channel once. The Ruby and Sapphire cartridges are the limiting factor. Each Hall of Fame save can only redeem one Jirachi. Meaning, if you start a new game on R/S and beat the Elite Four again, you can redeem a Jirachi again without finishing Pokemon Channel again.
I just did it after following this guide step by step. Thank you very much, it was already such a pain, I can’t imagine how tedious it would have been without this. It’s kind of a dick move from the Pokémon company to lock an event only Pokémon behind this game. It’s probably one of (if not the only) the only ways to legitimately obtain a Jirachi for ruby and sapphire today. It’s like they knew during development how bad this is and added the jirachi thing as a selling point
thank you for this tutorial i want to start shiny hunting the jirachi and i really couldnt be bothered to play this game without a guide now the only thing left is to beat my ruby copy and hopefully not mess up the safe file corrupting method :)
I can confirm that the question asked prior to receiving the last PichuBros episode is the same, at least for me (I played the german version). Thanks for the straight forward guide!
While it's shitty the EU didn't get the bonus disc I would have preferred if they did it this way in the US as well. Jirachi being essentially a pre-order bonus is very silly. Also, the Jirachi in the US only has 9 individual combinations for a shiny one whereas the EU and Australia ones have like, hundreds of thousands of stat combos. I'm doing the channel RNG manip and getting the PAL one to actually be in color on my tv was kind of a pain (pretty much need to run it modded on a US cube from what I can tell, or that's how I did it). Honestly the game wasn't terrible but it would have been a lot better without pikachu messing with the TV. I got to day 5 without realizing I had to go to the yard to get the bus passes, but this had a hidden upside: you don't have to! If you get to day 5 and just don't go out to the yard till then Oak will give you the snowfall pass for free and then you can go out to do the duskull stuff after. It drove me mad tho wondering why squirtle wasn't selling the passes lol.
For anyone watchin this new or still wants to know, an american copy of sapphire and ruby will work BUT if you have already recieved a Jirachi from the Bonus Disc of Colosseum they will be registered as the same Jirachi so you will need a fresh save file that beat hall of fame to receive it TLDR: only one jirachi per save file and it works on American Copy
If you have multiple copies of ruby and sapphire completed and have completed channel, can you distribute multiple Jirachi's without re-doing the channel story again?
Great tutorial. Although, I was able to get Jirachi from the US bonus disc, but not through the console. I used a GC emulator that supports GBA connectivity, dumped my ruby save file to my pc, set-up everything and BOOM got Jirachi on the GBA emulated ruby (possibly a US version of the rom, hence they were compatible) then dumped the new save file back to my physical copy of ruby. I did the same with Celebi, although, this was trickier. I needed a japanese colosseum version, a complete save file with all 48 pokemon purified, then got a Celebi on the colosseum file and only then I was able to transfer it straight to a japanese ruby wehre the caracter had entered HOF. Lastly, I traded it on my ruby file on my pc and dumped the ultimate save file on the physical cartridge. Note: According to bulbapedia, apart from the first Celebi you get on colloseum, you can transfer 48 more on gba games. After that, the bonus disc becomes sort of "useless" I suppose.
You get 48 celebi’s on colosseum file if you want more have to beat colosseum again purify all 48 all over and you’ll get more celebi’s so if you have more then one memory card you can get more or just erase your current file
Thank you for this to the point guide. But I have a US version. It won't work? And if yes, why it won't work? And does EU or AUS discs work on my US GameCube?
The US version simply doesn't have this on the disc. In the US, Jirachi was distributed by the Colosseum bonus disc, Australia and Europe did not get this disc. The GameCube is region locked, so EU and AUS discs will not work in a US GameCube.
I know it's one per save file on Ruby & Sapphire. But if i unlock Jirachi in pokemon channel can i give a Jirachi to multiple different save cartridges or save files? or is it only 1 jirachi per playthrough of pokemon channel?
The cartridge is the only limiting factor. You can redeem Jirachi as many times as you want. You only have to complete Pokemon channel once. It sets a flag in the save on the Ruby/Sapphire cartridge to know that save file has redeemed one.
Hello, I'm using Dolphin Emulator for Pokemon Channel (EU), mGBA for Pokemon Sapphire and PKHex to assist with trading. I've just finished Channel, wondering if anyone has advice on how to generate a legal Jirachi to the Sapphire save file?
I could help you. First of all, I used dolphin and the US bonus disc, not channel (still made it work for my EU copy of the game) so no worries on that. Secondly, do you want Jirachi on a physical copy of sapphire or just a rom on your computer?
Hi i’ve been following this tutorial but when I get to the end of transferring the jirachi it flashes on the GBA screen and then fails. Do you have any ideas on what is causing this?
