    Mine for resources, choose from powerful upgrade paths and fend off waves of alien attackers in this innovative roguelike mining action game. There's just enough time to mine a little deeper, find a little more and get back to defend before the next wave attacks your dome.

    So, on being creative and doing indie game videos: You are engaging in a unique creative process doing this! You're creating an experience for yourself, and because you're recording, editing, and uploading it to the internet, you're creating an experience for your viewers that's unique to your channel! Yes, making games and art are more intensely creative activities, but they aren't at their best without people to play or view them. Sharing is innately human and a big part of "being creative!" I'm not saying you shouldn't have other creative outlets, those are extremely important! But please recognize that you are still creating here.

      I would also like to add that Wander covers a lot of games that I’ve never seen before. It’s thanks to this wide variety I’ve found games in genres I previously thought weren’t really for me. Not only that but he often puts out [videos on]early access games and revisits them once they have fully launched, sometimes even ones that he didn’t enjoy but was willing to give another shot. Wander is one of the few creators that I will watch for opinions on a game. Thank you for your work!

    I've gotten the "those who can't do teach" a lot from people who do neither...
    Part of why I like your coverage on games is because it always shows respect and understanding toward game devs and the creative process involved, rather than the blind entitlement of many big youtubers. Especially with indie games, you never lose sight that they are someone's passion project rather than a mere product.

    "I just want my shaft to be symmetrical"
    (looks down sadly) amen brother
    also Wander you offer high quality playthroughs of games that I love that other content creators don't cover at all or don't finish, so as long as you keep making cool videos on indie games I'll keep watching c:

    IMO, a big vertical central shaft, with horizontal branches every 2 spaces (or more if you don't mind missing a feeeew minerals here and there) is the best mining plan. The horizontal branches let you just dig and have the minerals stay, while if you dig minerals on a vertical shaft, they fall down all the way to the bottom. The central vertical shaft is ideal in case you get the elevator/tractor beam, and it helps to have an easy to follow direction (go center, then go up) when going back if you wanna save on the "path back" upgrade.
    In short, your instincs were right, even if you couldn't explain why :P

    Bringing the relic back to your dome actually heals it up so you "wasted" that cobalt, in the sense that had there been an achievement for completing a run without repairing, then you would have missed out on it.

    Regarding the creative process, you can always be a hobbyist in gamedev too. I don't know how much time it takes you to make a video (play, write, record, etc), but you could try to assign like a bit each week to try to make a game. Surely you have a lot of ideas, write them down and make a small but entretaining experience. It would be really interesting to see what you came up with. It might not be Baldur's gate level of good or polished, but it will be yours. If you want to do something, I say you do it.

    As an adult with ADD who has dealt with similar issues regarding chronic burnout in things that you know you like doing, I'd recommend you look into it with your doctor if possible. Could easily not be, but if it is, you'll be on a path to better manage it going forward.

      Alas all the doctors are waitlisted in my area for months. As soon as I can get an appointment I'm gonna try to get properly diagnosed and figure out what that means for me.

    Wander, I really doubt that you no longer have friends after college. Time may result in drifting apart a bit but that quickly changes once real life circumstances change.

    • @wanderbots

      It always kinda sucks when people say "oh I'm sure you had some friends" to me when this topic comes up, because I really, truly, had no friends.
      I got kicked me out of my student organization/fraternity due to the new leadership deciding artists shouldn't be allowed in, and my friends in it all either abstained or just voted along with them because they didn't want to rock the boat. So I cut them all off, and by then it was my Senior year so I just gave up on trying to make new ones.
      The only social connection I had left was my wife, who I was living with at the time and wasn't part of the SO.

    • @MisterNi
      @MisterNi 7 місяців тому

      @@wanderbots Oh wow, I see. That sucks. Well your wife is your friend, isn't she? I didn't have many friends at University and the friends I did have weren't in the same grade as me. A lot of my friends are very long time friends and we may not see one another for years if not decades at a time, meeting up again it's pretty much like old times again after some icebreakers. So you shouldn't give up hope at all.

    • @RazielWraith
      @RazielWraith 7 місяців тому

      @@wanderbots very familiar story.... had tons of friends just fade away or just randomly cut ties with no idea as to why.
      from my old group of friends i'd say I keep in touch with 2 people from time to time.
      a lot of my current friendships aren't as deep as I used to have but i've been immensely lucky to find a small group of like minded gamers at some of my work places and multiplayer stuff like Path of Exile or random indie coops have brought us all together on a Discord server that we've been keeping alive for around 7 years. There have always been people coming and going but the core people are still there even if we don't see or talk as often.

    Make a list of the games you've played that it seems a lot of people liked. So when there are no new ones, go back and play those, even if there is no new content for it. A new save can be fun to see, especially since you'd be better at the game most likely, compared to the first time you played it
