Yao (妖)- ‘demon’, ‘youkai’, ‘monster’, ‘magical / sorcerous creature’
Ling (灵)- ‘spirit’, ‘essence’, ‘soul / anima’, ‘responsive / lively’
So basically a Yaoling is like a yokai spirit or a magical familiar creature. basically slightly more occult pokemon.
The yaolings the game gives you don't change depending on your choice, so Meep is definitely the best.

I would have picked Fienny as I like fire types. I like swords as well, but Bungo looks kinda plain compared to the other two. Fienny is also an archer, so he could attack from a distance which I always like in real time battles.
It would be cool if your whole team followed you like an army.
Cute and interesting game! Thanks for giving it a try and covering it! Looking forward to the game being polished and expanded upon, the initial intro was kinda rushed I think...A quick skipped and a bit late of actual intro to the lore.
Yeah instead of the burning town & abandoned baby it should have just been a classic intro animatic with some background lore.

I played more off camera. It's a lot of fun, but not great YT video material since it's fairly repetitive. Maybe I'll stream the 1.0 version when it comes out.

This developer's last game, Prime of Flame is a good party-based tactical roguelike if you're looking for more manual combat control. Same quality of art but translation is a bit spotty in some places.

AFAIK, Chel isn't a professional voice actor -- at least, not at the moment :)
I have performed voiceovers for two indie game trailers and a character in a demo at this point- but would definitely like to do more! It's difficult to know where to start (and we do not live in Hollywood), but game developers occasionally contact us about VO opportunities if they like what they have heard in our videos.

Silly jokes aside, this could be a videogame I may buy. The style and concept are great.
I wouldn't really call this a Pokemon-like as much as kind of like AFK Arena (Mobile Game) - if they added depth to synergies, leveling, etc. making it more challenging would be interesting as AFK Arena has a massive playerbase.
