Songs: Requiem in White - The Sleep
Project Pitchfork - Timekiller
I'm into this. I gotta find a shirt to do this to! TO THE THRIFT STORE :D
This is exactly what I was thinking. Gonna hit up Goodwill on my day off tomorrow!
Thrift runs are so much fun when you're on a mission!
Damn. That front kick at the end was so incredible.
NEED. MORE. DIYS.
I love the gender neutral fashion DIY's! 💗
I wanted to buy this shirt from your store, then when payday came it had gone, so I'm glad you posted this tutorial!
Now you can do this to everything!
Oh I have to try this! It'd be pretty cool to leave some of the neckline sold so the black parts form a cross shape, too!
That was the modification I spoke of in the beginning but then forgot to do it in the end lol.
I WANT THAT TOP!!!!😃🖤......BEFORE the hard work u put in o course......a plain black tee wiv literally nothin more than ‘90s’ written on it........just PERFECT😊😊😊
Aww I remember my baby-bat days when I'd custom because there was literally nothing out there (in my area anyway) 😅 Cut tees were such an awesome go to
Always a pleasure to watch your tutorials. Congrats on having your work featured in Gothic Beauty! I have to thank you. I have discovered several bands due to your videos (e.g. Faith and the Muse, Mors Syphilitica, etc.) that I adore.
Thank you! I'm so happy you've been able to find music you love
I really do appreciate it! : D
Tbis is perfect for the shirts i just got from my boyfriend. Trying to pick up my goth style again. I just dont feel like myself lately
I'm gonna try this and I'll probably wear it over the top of another maybe long sleeved top. It'd be cool with fishnet underneath as well.
This is just amazing for the all year summer we have in Brazil!
Wait, I just found out that there is such a thing as "Gothic Beauty" magazine😲
And how would I go about doing this but with a shirt that has a much larger graphic than the one in the video?
It still works - you just have to adapt it to the shirt. For example, you can do more shredding on the back and less on the front. Angela actually did another tutorial on that :)
I love these DIYs!!!
Love this design, Angela! I'm gonna go thrift up something to do this to asap.
I watched this a bit ago, but remembered it. Finally felt a little crafty today, so I took a shirt I hadn't worn in a while and decided to try this. So very helpful! Just an fyi. It's a bit more difficult if your shirt has a lot of stretch. I had to make use of pins and a straight edge to get some of the things done. Again. thanks for the awesome video!
When I was a teen I was a huge fan of the crow. I'd put holes in my shirt to look like I had been shot. Did anyone else ever do that ?
Can you post how you originally made it with the sweetheart neckline?
Sure!
Awesome! Thank You!
I think you mean "Under my Wing" or "Skin deep" LOL
so glad this popped up as soon as I got myself a new joy division t on amazon!!!!!! love it.
Vincent Donbullian I got a Joy Division shirt recently too, and I'm a bit tempted to destroy my shirt now~
That shirt came out badass! I did a shredding tee tutorial too. I love how crisp yours looks. Well done!
So cool! Definitely trying this soon.
You'll always be the #1 gothic beauty to me!
You got so creative with these! I would have loved to have visited your shop online. Thanks for sharing Angela! I love seeing other intelligent, creative, beautiful, wise, unique women sharing their art! Truly appreciative of your hard work. ❤
Thank you so much!
oh thank you girl Ill be trying this tomorrow- maybe use the black army tee hanging in the closet thats too big. I hope it's as easy as you made it look. the finished look is perfection! By the way you're The best looking person I've seen on UA-cam. smokin hot...
Can't wait to give it a try thank you
✂️ I live for your tutorials! Thanks for another great video.
Thank you so much! I'm happy you like it :)
I really need to try this someday
I'm happy you like it!
😍😍😍 I am definitely going to try to make this.
Looks awesome! I'll have to modify the design so it is not quite so shredded; I don't think it would be flattering to me as is. Thanks for the tutorial, Angela. :-)
Oh hell yeah! I love it. I'll have to make a variation of this on one of my shirts :D
Leave a gap in the shredding at the neckline and it becomes a cross :)
:D Holy shit!!! You fucking know my taste and aesthetic way too well!! :D
great job I love it
My Goddess! I love that shirt! I love the style! I miss the 90s!
I'd love to see how it comes out!
Super cool!!!!
DEFINITELY am gonna try this out!
Please post pics! I'd love to see
great ! I would like to see more diy
Holy shit, dude, the Kat Von D thing... wow... #Goals
This is so fucking badass, though
Kat Von D star struck! That's a cool story ††
I was floored! The whole time I was making the top I had no idea it was actually FOR Kat Von D. Not until I went to print the shipping label did I realize.
Will definitely have to try this, it looks amazing!
Thank you! I'd love to know how it turns out!
I'll tag you on instagram and/or facebook ;)
the way that you designed the pull over shirt that you had on was really cool. I do not think I could ever design something like that. If you could do another video on this that would be helpful.
You want me to remake this video?
I hope I did not offend you in asking you to do another video on this. I was amazed at how you were able to design one of the best pieces of clothing I have ever seen. I think you would give a clothing outlet a run for its money
That is badass!!
I'm glad you like it!
Was just thinkin that the finished article could also’ve looked good as a cross wiv the 90s bit in the middle....as in the area which wasn’t cut that formed a ‘T’ woulda also looked good if the uncut bit continued from the bottom up and above the ‘90s’ logo......if u get me
This is awesome!! Can you do a video of how to start out making a goth wardrobe? My biggest problem is the cost of goth clothing
Honestly, goth clothing is what you make of it, and tons of it can be acquired inexpensively and fairly easily, unless you're dead set on nothing but specialty pieces. Don't worry about brands or what the social media goths are wearing.
Pick up some affordable black basics if you don't have them: t-shirts, button front shirts, camisoles, skirts, jeans, trousers, cardigans, jackets and blazers, hoodies. You can build a great goth outfit out of whichever categories of those things you wear and some spooky jewelry and/or makeup. Do not underestimate the power of accessorizing, for any gender.
Hit up any kind of secondhand clothing places around you, be they Goodwill type thrift stores or consignment shops, and look at everything black. It can take a lot of patience and multiple visits, but you can find some really amazing things this way. If you're in the US, try the Poshmark app. Especially if you wear smaller sizes, there's lots of alternative clothing on there if you search around. If you like antique shows and such, look for cool accessories there, too.
Keep an eye out at mainstream stores. You'd be surprised what you can turn up at, say, Target or TJ Maxx.
Think about how you can goth up things you thrift or you already own. Can you dye it? Paint it? Cut it up? Add hardware? Glue or sew spooky stuff to it?
If you're still dying for certain expensive pieces, ask for them for your birthday or the holidays, or ask for money to put toward the clothes. And again, patience is key. A good goth wardrobe is accumulated over time.
Hope that was helpful. :)
I definitely agree. I do a lot of videos for goths on a budget and pieces $25 and under as well as thrift hauls.
love you!
Wonder if you would be able to make the front and back neck line strips form the silhouette of a bat?? I might try that. :D
That would be so cool!
10/10, I will try it soon, wish me luck :P
You totally got this!
My husbands watching Buffy right now and you sound exactly like Sarah Michelle Gellar
Haha, that's awesome
You rule babe! Much love from Poland 😍😘
Much love right back from New York 😘
It would have also been really cool if you had left a section under the neckline uncut as well, so that all of the uncut fabric formed the silhouette of a cross instead of a T.
That was actually the modification I said I was going to show in the video but forgot and kept cutting lol.
Oh man, unlucky. That makes sense, it's cool that there's so many different ways you could style the same technique.
Do you spot clean these shredded shirts or can you throw them in the wash? Also is there a way to seal the edges to keep it from ripping further, like in the center of the shirt?
Mishkamoto You could wash it in a delicates mesh bag. That's what I do.
Seconding this. Lingerie bags are invaluable for clothes with lots of details or dangles like this that you don't want to get tangled or mangled in the wash.
I usually stick them in a pillowcase to wash.
Wash your shredded/DIY shirts in a pillow case, it'll keep them from moving around, tearing and getting caught on other clothes :)
I think I'll have ago at this as I'm going to a goth night soon! ..do you think it would look alright if I wore a nude tank top underneath it?
Definitely! I know a few people who had. I actually had access to nude tanks for super cheap so I must have sent out half a dozen of them to people who asked when I first started designing these.
🖤
I went and had a look at the Cat Von De video and I couldn't really see much of the shirt jus the part on the top of her shoulders.
Requiem in White ^··^
wow you were in the magazine
Nice kick, the girl has skills.
hermosa más video así por favor ♡
Do you have any body piercings ?
Where did you find the digital file for "The Sleep"? It's not on iTunes :/
It's on youtube, I just downloaded it from here.
i wish i could make/ wear this :( (plus sized...)
Course you can!
Angela Benedict thank you ^//^ I wasn't expecting a response lol
Are we aware of the orb on the left side of the screen at :50?
Noooooooooo. Since someone pointed out to me that it should be '90s and not 90's, it's been driving me insane every time I see it.
Lol, I saw the pictures from that photoshoot before I knew who you were. I have that issue of Gothic Beauty. I thought you looked familiar. You should wear those nazi style caps more, It looks hot.
That be me :P
+ Angela Benedict: I love how generous you are with sharing your knowledge, your memories, your many skills and how invested you are in keeping Gothic Culture Alive! 💋💀
but you couldn't even see what shirt KVD was wearing in that video...
