    Oh I have to try this! It'd be pretty cool to leave some of the neckline sold so the black parts form a cross shape, too!

      That was the modification I spoke of in the beginning but then forgot to do it in the end lol.

    Wait, I just found out that there is such a thing as "Gothic Beauty" magazine😲
    And how would I go about doing this but with a shirt that has a much larger graphic than the one in the video?

    • @CoalCandyX
      @CoalCandyX 7 років тому +4

      It still works - you just have to adapt it to the shirt. For example, you can do more shredding on the back and less on the front. Angela actually did another tutorial on that :)

    I watched this a bit ago, but remembered it. Finally felt a little crafty today, so I took a shirt I hadn't worn in a while and decided to try this. So very helpful! Just an fyi. It's a bit more difficult if your shirt has a lot of stretch. I had to make use of pins and a straight edge to get some of the things done. Again. thanks for the awesome video!

    Was just thinkin that the finished article could also’ve looked good as a cross wiv the 90s bit in the middle....as in the area which wasn’t cut that formed a ‘T’ woulda also looked good if the uncut bit continued from the bottom up and above the ‘90s’ logo......if u get me

  • @1775LostOne
    @1775LostOne 7 років тому

    This is awesome!! Can you do a video of how to start out making a goth wardrobe? My biggest problem is the cost of goth clothing

    • @tstymctst
      @tstymctst 7 років тому +1

      Honestly, goth clothing is what you make of it, and tons of it can be acquired inexpensively and fairly easily, unless you're dead set on nothing but specialty pieces. Don't worry about brands or what the social media goths are wearing.
      Pick up some affordable black basics if you don't have them: t-shirts, button front shirts, camisoles, skirts, jeans, trousers, cardigans, jackets and blazers, hoodies. You can build a great goth outfit out of whichever categories of those things you wear and some spooky jewelry and/or makeup. Do not underestimate the power of accessorizing, for any gender.
      Hit up any kind of secondhand clothing places around you, be they Goodwill type thrift stores or consignment shops, and look at everything black. It can take a lot of patience and multiple visits, but you can find some really amazing things this way. If you're in the US, try the Poshmark app. Especially if you wear smaller sizes, there's lots of alternative clothing on there if you search around. If you like antique shows and such, look for cool accessories there, too.
      Keep an eye out at mainstream stores. You'd be surprised what you can turn up at, say, Target or TJ Maxx.
      Think about how you can goth up things you thrift or you already own. Can you dye it? Paint it? Cut it up? Add hardware? Glue or sew spooky stuff to it?
      If you're still dying for certain expensive pieces, ask for them for your birthday or the holidays, or ask for money to put toward the clothes. And again, patience is key. A good goth wardrobe is accumulated over time.
      Hope that was helpful. :)

    • @angelabenedict
      @angelabenedict  7 років тому

      I definitely agree. I do a lot of videos for goths on a budget and pieces $25 and under as well as thrift hauls.

  • @BooksMusicMe17
    @BooksMusicMe17 7 років тому

    It would have also been really cool if you had left a section under the neckline uncut as well, so that all of the uncut fabric formed the silhouette of a cross instead of a T.

    • @angelabenedict
      @angelabenedict  7 років тому

      That was actually the modification I said I was going to show in the video but forgot and kept cutting lol.

    • @BooksMusicMe17
      @BooksMusicMe17 7 років тому

      Oh man, unlucky. That makes sense, it's cool that there's so many different ways you could style the same technique.

  • @BohoMojojo

    Do you spot clean these shredded shirts or can you throw them in the wash? Also is there a way to seal the edges to keep it from ripping further, like in the center of the shirt?

    • @IsakiVoelker
      @IsakiVoelker 7 років тому +1

      Mishkamoto You could wash it in a delicates mesh bag. That's what I do.

    • @tstymctst
      @tstymctst 7 років тому +4

      Seconding this. Lingerie bags are invaluable for clothes with lots of details or dangles like this that you don't want to get tangled or mangled in the wash.

    • @angelabenedict
      @angelabenedict  7 років тому +8

      I usually stick them in a pillowcase to wash.

    • @applechips1031
      @applechips1031 6 років тому

      Wash your shredded/DIY shirts in a pillow case, it'll keep them from moving around, tearing and getting caught on other clothes :)

    • @angelabenedict
      @angelabenedict  7 років тому

      Definitely! I know a few people who had. I actually had access to nude tanks for super cheap so I must have sent out half a dozen of them to people who asked when I first started designing these.
