Wonder if this car was used in a crime, heat with an accelerant will destroy DNA; that car was charred beyond return, you could get a VIN and trace but beyond that it was be statistically useless for those purposes.

By what, nobody is replacing white people, the democrats support the hood and make it super cheap and trashy, and in return get more democratic votes, not all people who live in the hood is black, its a mix of all people, that all have one thing in common "being poor" and being poor makes people commit crimes to get more money than they are originally making. I don't know how people are surviving in some areas but the cookie cutter look of some places that chain food places, big box stores have moved into confused me. All those look same, then drive farther I'd see boarded up abandoned businesses, homes.

Honestly, that was pretty quick for the police to show. You can often wait hours for them to show up, if at all. Years ago, my car was broken into over by the DIA, someone yanked my stereo out of the dash. We waited for 4 hours and no one showed. Back then, there were a lot more officers on the force. These days, there are only a handful of cops working the entire city. Speed limits are basically suggestions because the chances of seeing a patrol car are practically nonexistent. For what they have in manpower and the sheer size of the area, it has to be awful for them.

That is very true. I had a brand new Dodge diesel full-size pick up burn to the ground in front of my place and it was quite noisy and had several wall shaking explosions (tires and such). It's not like they were big explosions, mind you, but when watching a truck literally burn to slag in front of you they can be unnerving. Guy had bought the truck two week prior to this and he said the disel engine ran away and he and his friend had to bail. That sucked for him for sure. Hopefully , his insurance paid out for him.

If the families that lived there 40 years prior could see what is happening in these rundown houses I wonder what they'd think, they'd probably be utterly confused.

Ameretsu Shidori I'm definitely not racist. I'm pretty sure whites were not the ones burning buildings in their neighborhoods in 67. (I was referring to this time period that Dan referred to as to when the city started destroying vacant areas). Also the Milliken desegragation codes led a lot of middle and upper class people to leave the city. 50 years of democrat control also drove out to the city's tax base. (Why live in Detroit if Ferndale or Dearborn has lower property tax)?... You may notice I'm just stating facts here if you actually did some research on white flight. TBH, I remember it being the same pre-austerity: in 2006/7, I was walking my then-girlfriend home after she had been on a night out and was assaulted for no reason by a couple of thugs. (Luckily, I went to the school of hard knocks, so when they struck me about the head, I fell to the floor but got up again pretty quickly - otherwise I've no doubt they would have put the boot in, and I also think one of them had a Stanley knife in his pocket.) I ended up going to the hospital with concussion, a split lip and a black eye, but when my girlfriend called the police, all we were given was a crime log number.
I remember a few other incidents from the early 2000s (ie, pre-austerity), when my father was attacked by a car thief, and another when his works van was stolen from outside my parents' house. Even then, the police didn't have any interest in investigating any of these crimes. Personally, I think the rot set in during the 1990s, when community policing seemed to break down.

A car being burnt for insurance or to cover the tracks of a more serious crime is not some sort of isolated incident. Particularly driving around the abandoned parts of Detroit after dark, on a scale of 1-10 this is in the very low range for drama.

WOW this is incredible. There's something about the cold, tough streets of Detroit that are so intriguing to me. As weird as it sounds, I really want to go up there and visit.

Okay, the music, or at least the initial track, reminds me of Ennio Morricone's score for The Thing. Love it.

This video deserves way more views. I forgot what the title was and I was looking through Dan's library of videos, and I thought sorting through the "most popular" ones would get me here but it didnt.

I'm addicted to this BUT with the way he acts around danger, Dan Bell is kind of a thinking man's Logan Paul.

Look at all the waste and garbage. Where is humanity. These homes could of been fixed or kept up. Well some of them. Breaks my heart to see this. And that car , omg, insane!

stacy graves I feel that. The city has so many homeless individuals. Fixing the homes up and making affordable housing would be so simple, but no.

Most of those homes were foreclosed on in 2008 because people bought them with money they didn't have, which brought down multiple banks and collapsed the economy. Yes, it happened all over the US, but Detroit got hit very, very badly. It's a humanitarian disaster no one wants to talk about.

Nathan Obral That last sentence really hits the nail on the head. No one - especially those in power - wants to talk about the suffering of the disadvantaged.

You are right. I have seen it all over and its a waste of resources. Those homes cost a lot of money when they were built and to just let them lay in waste is ridiculous. Which Detroit is obviously a high crime city and no one would want to live in a place with a lot of crime but it has to start somewhere, fixing these houses and salvaging these neighborhoods will help put a stop to crime, at least I think its a start.

Been waiting for you to upload again. Took long enough. Just joking. Good stuff Dan Bell always appreciate your content. Although rather creepy at times. After all we watch you so we don't have to get scared irl.
