For future reference, is it possible to buy your user oscilators directly in GBP? I only see prices in dollars, on your website. Currency conversion is an extra expense.
TooSlowTube Hi, the website where you make purchases is actually sellfy.com, they provide that service for me and it is PayPal that does the currency conversion. Yes of course PayPal is going to make money out of the conversion but we are talking a few cents / pence on a $12 oscillator. The alternative would be for me to do that conversion myself, to set prices for my products in both dollars and pounds. But whatever I set becomes out of date the moment I do it so I will unintentionally end up either ripping you off or ripping myself off depending on which way the exchange rates go. If my oscillators were hundreds of dollars each then it might make sense to find a facility with lower exchange rate spreads but given the prices we are talking about here I prefer to leave the job to sellfy and PayPal....
@@TimShoebridge It's academic, at the moment, because I don't own a Minilogue XD, but it does seem odd to be converting my pounds into dollars to pay someone who's clearly English... Paypal have a habit of surprising me with how much extra I pay when there's a currency conversion involved.
@@TooSlowTube Don't accept the default Paypal conversion, use your bank's conversion rate. Depending on who you bank with, you can save most if not all of the conversion fee (I use ING).
Just got my Minilogue xd today, after owning the original for about a year. Also just found your page/work here today and purchased one, two, three and strings so far! Sounding excellent, and inspiring, new layers of sophistication to the Minilogue xd. Thank you for all of your work.
Thank you so much for your amazing work on this Oscillator Tim. I have just downloaded from your site and looking forward to playing around with this on the Mililogue XD, one of my favourite synths. Love your work and will be purchasing the other oscillators too, great stuff.
Thanks a lot. I have a few extras in progress for this oscillator at the moment. Once they are completed I will release both the XD and Prologue versions at the same time. Hopefully one or two weeks max.
Exellent OSC , the cool thing would be an offset in time bewteen osc 2 and 3 , making positive timshift or negative from 3 in refrence of 2 and 2 in ref of 1 to have this strumming thing less mecanical . Thks a lot for the quality bof your work ( osc and videos !! )
Oh wow an Arp in an Arp! Sounds a lot synthpopish like m83! This OSC takes the XD to a new Level!! I think its really cool to perform with other musicians in a jamsession, its not just a boring seq, you have this rhytm thing in your sound, and hopefully the drummer can follow 😜in contrast to a seq you can make progressions! Thank you very much!
Hello Tim, I‘ve downloaded again your new Osc and what should I say? Again you did an excellent Job. And because you additionaly created many patches, its easy to work with it. thanx for all 👍
Excellent exploration of the Korg Minilogue. I already have their Monologue, which I love to bits. This makes me want to drop brass on one of these now. Subscribed!!
I'd stick with the real analog Monologue. The Minilogue XD has an AD/DA converter that can't be bypassed. Every sound that comes out of it has been digitized and then reconverted.
JoeHoe This obsession with analogue is mad. I have a Rev2 an SE-02 and an XD. The XD is BY FAR my favorite. It’s amazing. And any synth that you record ultimately goes through a converter, unless you just play it through an amp. Class A amp of course. How many people do that?! I love analogue. And I love digital. I really love the ability to blend. The XD is a masterpiece in my view. So accessible and flexible. And it sounds warm and huge.
it would be cool if waveform 1 + 2 could play simultaneously then 3 is delayed.. or other similar patterns like 1, then 2+3, etc.. or if one could adjust the delay of each waveform separately after the trigger..
I am stunned how warm a digital osc can sound.....!! I get my minilogue xd tomorrow and will buy THREE ! Maybe i a future update you can sync it to a midi grid ? So when using it with a arp it reacts to Arp/Midi clocksync ?
Ahhhhhh. I no longer have access to a prologue so i can not create presets for it any more. The Minilogue XD version of the user oscillator will work on the Prologue though, I think all you need to do is change the file extension
I wonder WHY you ever necessarily see questions tagged to videos from 2 years past. Onward, I go. Do you think that Korg remains committed to this Frankenstein's monster [SX] they've created? I do hope so. The possibilities are mind-boggling--certainly for my little pea brain. Just this morning, I watched a video wherein the creator had implemented a LOOPER inside XD. Every creation like this...like all of yours...simply increase the dollar value added aspect of this synth. Lastly, do you think it would be possible--in a future firmware update--to arrive at a 64 step sequencer? I wonder if the automation lanes could be momentarily reallocated as music sequence lanes...and then once one's masterpiece is created (and saved, I guess) another button press or two would return the automation lanes to original function, such that one could then process the sequence created. Thanks Tim.
Hey Mark. To be honest I only see comments when YT sends me an alert, so it's completely hit-and-miss because they don't alert me to every comment I receive. Good question about commitment. Korg should be, the extendable user oscillator and effects processors in the XD, Prologue and NTS-1 are a stroke of genius and, let's face it, an analogue/hybrid successor to the XD/Prologue is well overdue. However, Korg are having such success with their all-digital releases (wavestate, modwave, opsix) and no doubt there is a lot of synergy between those products and their all-digital workstation models. And now I see they are porting those digital algorithms to software plugins and kind of following the Roland approach to virtual analogue. No doubt Korg will fully embrace the cloud soon as well.... If they do ever come out with an analogue/hybrid replacement to the XD/Prologue then I honestly wonder why they'd bother with implementing extensible user oscillator capability again when they could equally and more easily implement aspects of their own digital synths into those hybrid products instead, as an alternative take on Roland's plug-out idea. I think, if anything, the popularity of the XD because of its digital extensibility might have been a catalyst for their shift towards all digital minikey instruments. A kind of "Oh look, people do dig digital after all, well we can do that ourselves very easily". Of course we have seen some analogue products from Korg as well in recent years, but there they are concentrating on the very popular vintage recreations market.
incaroads Technically it is possible, the main problem is always the limited number of parameters you can set on a user oscillator and the limited range of values they can have. I have a few enhancements in the pipeline for this oscillator and will think about how to add variety to the assigned waveforms...
I'll look into it but it might not be possible to add any more to this oscillator, it's already on the edge as far as processing requirements are concerned :(
Hi Tim! I'm new in Minilogue XD (and general synth) stuff. I'm a big fan of Moderat sound. Which one of yours oscilators should i buy to achive lead sounds like this: ua-cam.com/video/lxf05bSC17E/v-deo.html Thanks!
Hey Tim, this is great, I've got all bar one of your oscillators now!.. some of these sounds would be great with a bit of noise for texture, its a shame that it's a choice between user oscillators and noise. Any chance you could add a noise oscillator within this in an update to expand the possibilities here?
Hi, I think I have an issue. Just bought three but updated firmware on the XD to the new V2. I cant change the waveform at all in osc 1 and I've lost the ability to load panel settings....Looks like something's conflicting. Have you tried yours with the new firmware? Cheers, Marcus
Sack the first comment. restarted XD and can change waveforms now. Still no panel load though. If its now not possible, its a small price to pay :) Keep up the good work.
Preset 16 for “three” definitely seems different with the new key triggered sequence. I think this is telling me something about Tim’s oscillator, not sure I know what that is, yet 🤷🏼♂️
Depends on if you want an analog path after the filter. The Minilogue XD has an AD/DA converter at the end of the signal that can't be bypassed. Every sound that comes out of it has been digitized and then reconverted.
In my humble opinion the XD is worth every penny. Non bypassable AD/DA conversion may be a problem for the purists, in which case go with a Prophet 6. But the biggest strength of the XD is its professional quality set of digital effects which go beyond the Prologue’s capabilities. And of course you have the digital multi oscillator making the synth’s sonic capabilities expandable. Biggest pluses for me for the XD are it sounds great, it’s compact and semi portable, and it’s a huge amount of fun to use and create ideas with.

speaking of the wavestate Tim perhaps you could add a probability per voice so that the rhythmic variation can be sparsified in a stochastic fashion
