#Rambo #80sToys
I had that bad boy growing up! I loved that toy. Also had one of the Rambo coloring books. At the time, my mother worked at a trophy and T-shirt shop in town. She took the book and copied the cover onto a sweatshirt for me sometime after Christmas. I wore that thing all the time.
I still have my original Rambo toy from when I was a kid! Missing the accessories and a little scratched but I've had it for over 30 years.
A lot of memories back to my mind in seconds....really wonderful memories. Greatest toys for our generation.
A different time indeed. I remember my Rambo metal lunch box in elementary school lol. I'm pretty sure a kid would get kicked out of school for that in today's world. So glad I was a kid in the 80s and not today
You and me both pal.
Two of my kids have now worn a Jaws shirt to school and been told it’s too scary, by a teacher. Do they not learn about sharks at school anymore? People are weird now
Ive got one still in the box, and a few loose. Being a kid in the 80's was amazing
This very figure was the only one I got back in the day from that toy line and I still remember it quite fondly as one of my favorites growing up. Still to this day -even with the outstanding pieces made by manufacturers like Sideshow, Hot Toys, NECA and the likes of those; I can't help but marvel at the level of detail this figure has for something that wasn't originally envisioned as a collectible item and also made back in the 80s. As you metioned -the scars, the jade necklace, the headband, the accessories it came with; for that era it all was pretty much spot on.
The most underrated toy line!!! Great figures, vehicles and playset.
And very fun animated series.
I remember I got a fresh 20 dollars for my birthday and my dad took me to the toy store and I got rambo, sergeant havoc and had just enough left for one g.i.joe. the weapons on the Rambo figures were awesome
Another amazing video. I am in absolute agreement w/you concerning the evolution of my own personal feelings as a boy, versus being older, w/regard to “First Blood”/“First Blood, Pt. II. Being a vet, myself; w/a father & uncle who served in Vietnam, the tone & message between the two could not be more different. I still love all five of them, though...
Yeah you're very right to point out the weirdness of the torture derived battle scars on a kids toy. But that was the 80s! That Moc looks pretty sweet. I had this as a kid...Now you got me lookin on ebay for this figure!
Oh wow, when you mentioned Armchair Directors! I had completely forgotten, that's how I first came to know of you. It may be time to watch more AD videos.
Enjoy the show! :D
Hahahaha, you got me Michael. I thought you were going to cut Rambo out of his bubble, whew!
Nothin is over, nothin!! One of your best reviews
the one and only....series i'm considering to start to collect!
I almost cried when you put the knife to the sealed Rambo 😭
I only had the flame thrower Rambo, was looking for the other version but unlucky me 😓 had to find the one I wasn’t looking for 😕
And that same thing with the leg also happened to me but couldn’t fixed it, I just strapped a plastic belt from another figure and that held it in place 😁
Oh I LOVE the string on the rocket. Reminds me of how they shoot rockets from bazookas in the movies by having them on a guide string. Spot on
One of the best toylines from the 80's IMO! I remember as a kid how impressed I was when saw these in stores for the first time. Really chunky figures with tons of accessories. And aside the wacky weapons, some are just miniature replicas of real guns! Something we don't see often nowadays. Great review, congrats!
Hi Michael. What an awesome look at the Rambo action figures. I never had any as a kid but picked a number of them up as an adult collector. How fitting that one of the advertisements before your video started was for the new Rambo Last Blood movie. Cheers M
This is one of the few lines of figures we never had. Love to live vicariously through your videos when it's something my brother and I never had. Who am I kidding? It's fun when you post a video about something we had or still have too. :) Keep up the good work!
The machine gun is a M60E3, Navy SEALs still use it today because the M60 was phased out in favor of the M249 SAW and M240
The S.T.R.I.K.E. Headquarters was my big Christmas gift one year
The hips and legs on what I called “Blue Jeans Rambo” were much closer to GI Joe. The dexterity was superior and I preferred that toy to this one.
I had him as a kid but mine came with the necklace and the red headband
I had a playset and a couple of Rambo figures in the 80’s. Think the set was a village base with a guard tower and a hut. This was in the UK. Its definitely this series of figures as I remember the SAVAGE logo.
I had several Rambo figures and a couple of the vehicles. I loved the RPGs. I modified the strings so they would go farther while still attached. My brother cut them several times.
The rocket firing off and exploding in the background while you calmly continued your review had me laughing. Good stuff.
As a kid I used to pop his arm off he man style to get the bandolier/ bullet belt off his chest..then snap it back on..its safer that way.
Great idea!
Awesome video! Takes me back to the good ol 80s😄
After Rambo 5, they should make a Rambo prequel to first blood. But with a younger actor playing Rambo & Sylvester directing
awesome . hope you'll review all the Rambo line . I never had any growing up but my buddy did he had the swearshirt style rambo and that white ninja who we'd use as a oversized Stormshadow lol
The Rambo line had some great weapons! At times they were a little cheesy but I loved them
Rambo!
I remember having a black ninja but it was from chuck norris karate commandos
Michael Sierra The ninjas from both lines were always very similar to me.
This was a awesome toy line
Great vid as always. Funny you should mention a Rambo/Sectaurs crossover though. To my understanding, when Stallone first began working on the film that would become Last Blood, he originally wanted to adapt a sci-fi novel called Hunter about an aging soldier tracking a blood-thirsty alien (ala Predator). He was eventually talked into the movie we're going to end up with, but supposedly loved the Hunter idea so much he went ahead and licensed the novel anyway for an unrelated picture (starring himself, natch).
That's interesting since the original title for Predator was "Hunter."
@@MichaelMercy I know, right? In this case though the "Hunter" in question was a book by Byron Huggins from 1999. The plot had a man named "Hunter" being sent to the Arctic Circle to "take-out' a genetic experiment that had escaped and was loose in the arctic circle. For his project, Stallone wanted to move the setting to the Pacific Northwest and make the creature either an alien or some kind of alien hybrid. Apparently entertainment journalists were calling the project Rambo vs. Universal Solder, which Stallone wasn't crazy about, so he released a statement saying it would be more of a Predator type creature, NOT a super-human.
I remember the cartoon but I didn't remember the figures...how could I have forgotten those? Anyway, thanks for bringing that memory back. Keep up the good work~
I see The A-Team™'s Cobra™ has joined the forces of evil (S.A.V.A.G.E.™) back there. :)
Awesome review and everything I learned about life, I learned from Sylvester Stallone characters
More specifically, John Rambo, Rocky Balboa and LIncoln Hawk
What was the one where he had the white hoodie and jeans?
I had this toy. I was 3z I remember my dad taking me to buy it. I was playing with it in my moms kitchen and left to the restroom. When I came back it was gone and I never saw it again. I would randomly look for it through out the years. Nobody was around to take it. It’s a mystery u can’t explain.
I just realized my mom threw it away because to this day she hates guns and doesn’t like my kids to have toy guns. My dad probably pissed her off when he brought me home with that toy.
Lol
I’m literally doing therapy in this comment 😂😂😂😂
Great review Michael!👍
You and Tony both love the Rambo line for sure. I have learned a lot from both of you about the line.😁
I do not think I ever owned any from this line. Very cool though. Thanks for sharing.
Bill
Thanks Bill! We're both pumped for Last Blood!
Do you know anything about the canadian variant? It has a different card I noticed.
Hello Michael. Great video on the Rambo figures. I love the Rambo savage strike headquarters tower! Can u do a video review on it! Thank u. Jonathan
Hola. Acá en Argentina también había muñecos de Rambo, marca Jocsa. Yo tuve la colección completa. Algunas figuras traían los brazos de goma, muy malas las articulaciones de las piernas con el tiempo se rompían. Saludos
Sir ive acquired a Rambo figure. But his face is color faded. Anyway to recolor the face or i leave it?
Nice video. For a minute I thought you were going to actually cut the figure out. Lol. I was like Michael wouldn't do that. Keep up the awesome reviews. Also missing my Star Trek reviews from you guys.
Thanks! Our shore leave from Trek will be over soon and we'll be back boldly going through the rest of TOS season 3.
I love rambo
Is General Warhawk based on Sheriff Will Teasle?
I'm thinking he was based off the main Russian bad guy in part 2,the guy who flew the huge helicopter, can't think of his name.
I'm missing the weapons from my Rambo figure all I got is the belt knife an 2 hand blades
Haha, that's what the card should have said he included. :D
I had gripper and sergeant havoc my little brother had Rambo and turbo
i remember having that toy...
Perhaps the bigger head was meant for the fire power Rambo, since it has a bigger body? Just a theory.
I've never heard that before but it makes sense.
New Movie is great
Ah, the good ol' Connecticut Leather Company. Shame they went under ages ago.
hi man.. do you know rambo with white shirt?
o it is fire power rambo. i got that back in the day. thanks man
Are you bringing any plastic spring loaded rocket launchers?
No, of course not.
Then you're not changing anything.
lol I read this in Rambo's growl.
😂🤣😂🤣🤓
I had both Rambo and Trautman
In the days before super realistic likenesses the Trautman figure is uncannily like Richard Crenna.
He-Bo.
Neat
Because i always the bigger guy ,went I was kid i play the Russian who fight Rambo went y friends roleplay the movies ! Old good time !
Haha. :D
PC ruined everything
