Interesting thoughts on the 2 drummers - the background is that the singing Drummer (Hana - a founder member of the band) had been singing and drumming with GS for 10 years (after switching from bass to form the band with her friend Koga the bassist you see here). She was tired and needed a change so they brought in the new drummer and Hana moved to guitar! (she plays piano and many other instruments too...). This performance comes from the band's 10th anniversary show which is the first main show where Hana was playing guitar, but as a special treat they played 3 songs in the middle of the set with the duel drums. You will find many things to surprise you if you continue to check these ladies out - the usual suggestions would be for "Mindset" or "I wish I" which are the singles from the band's most recent album. If you want to hear them heavier then they had a side-project called Doll$boxx which is also well worth checking out - "Take my chance" is the usual first suggestion.

This concert was the culmination of the 9-month process of fully integrating two new members into the band. In their previous incarnation the band featured one or two hype girls who entertained the crowd at stage front to compensate for the main singers being on drums and keyboard. The last hype girl left at the end of 2018, and several bizarre twists left them with a new drummer (the tiny dark haired girl dressed in white) while the former drummer (and lead vocalist) moved to stage front to play 2nd guitar and other instruments. The young pink haired girl was initially added as a hype girl slash vocalist slash rapper, but she has since evolved into sharing lead vocals with the aforementioned guitarist. The double drums in this concert were only used for a few songs and took advantage of the large stage they were playing on. The keyboardist is an integral part of the band's sound because she is literally the glue that makes all the other instruments fit together seamlessly, effortlessly switching between a multitude of styles and sounds to shape the band's soundscape. The bassist and lead guitar are recognized as two of the finest musicians in Japan, but you need to listen to a lot of their work to fully appreciate this because they are so versatile. All the musicians minus the tiny drummer are also members of a side-project supergroup called Doll$Boxx that features metal goddess Fuki on vocals. They play a harder, more technical kind of rock, and are often mentioned as one of the best rock bands in existance. They recorded a 10-song album in 2012 and a 5-song mini album in 2017, and toured together in 2017-18. The live clips featuring the band (dressed all in black) are from a 2018 DVD recorded at one of their last appearances.

Hana, one of the double drums, was an early member and was a drum & vocalist, but with the withdrawal of the guitar, we welcomed a new drum member, yuri, and joined the guitar & vocals, and also performed death voice on several songs. He acted with a lot of variety. Activities under the system of returning to drum while yuri is pregnant. After yuri's return to drums, at a live performance, It became a band that also does double drums.
Up until a year or two before this the little Asian drummer and the red headed energizer bunny vocalist were not a part of this band. The other drummer, Hana, was the drummer and lead vocalist as well as the person who wrote most of the music. They brought in the new drummer so Hana could be out front playing guitar. Oh, did I mention that she is a master of all the instruments on stage? The red head was brought in as a hype girl but with the understanding that she would be getting more and more leads. There was something weird about this stage that caused Hana to bring out her drums and do six? Songs where she’s drumming and then play guitar on all the rest. Thus we have this masterpiece. There are two newer songs off their newest album that feature the red headed angie as lead singer and are two of GS’s best songs. Mindset and I wish I. I suggest watching the studio version and you really need to watch mindset first.. Trust me on this…
Great band. They are probably my favourite female band from Japan alongside Lovebites, at least when it comes to the somewhat well-known ones. I also like some more obscure ones such as eX-Girl.
Try the MV for Mindset as well as the live versions. The MV is Angelina (Angie) debut for her I believe. She started with the band when she was only 17, last I heard she is 20 now. And I have to give her credit, she is a bucket of energy. In fact, I call the whole crew, "Energy Personified".
The macaroni drum set that Hana is playing on is supposed to project more sound out to the audience. In this environment I doubt it makes much difference but Hana has had these drums going way back to the day where you could practically touch the performers. Might have helped then…

Also a note on clothing, ga…cha..ric spin has had an extreme eclectic choice of wardrobe I’ve the years but when their label victor picked them up they were forced into uniforms with slight nods to their individual style. You can tell exactly when they managed crawl out from victor’s thumb. The drummer became single dad cyclist, the guitarist was basically little bo peep and Oreo the keyboardist became a cheeseburger… One of these fine fans here need to recommend a video where this clothing style is apparent… Actually the ghost video would work but I seem to be the only one who loves it…
In common with a lot of Japanese groups (particularly idol groups), Gacharic Spin members adopted characters from their earliest incarnation. By the time they signed to Victor, they were also colour-coded, another common tactic seen in Japanese pop groups to help identify members. For the release of KAKUHEN they adopted a red uniform (not quite identical designs), but from the G-litter album onward they have been doing pretty much whatever they like, including the Oreo-burger. At the moment they are probably the closest to street fashion they have ever been, although TOMO-ZO stays very much in character. The Ghost Rule video is excellent but like everything else on the Go Luck! EP it's a cover version, so doesn't get recommended very often when people want to see Gacharic Spin. It's worth seeing the originals tracks covered on the EP if you haven't already done so - the Pocket Biscuits and Kome Kome Club tracks are bangers. You can clearly see where GS got inspiration. This performance was from their 10th anniversary concert in October, 2019. Since the show was filmed for Blu-Ray, they went all out in their performance. In February, 2019 they added the front vocalist that goes by Angelina 1/3 because she is Japanese. Spanish and Filipino. She is normally just called Angie. The band's bassist, with the great stage name of F Chopper Koga, happened to see Angie at a high school festival. Although she had wanted to be a singer for a few years, Angie had just recently joined the band that was performing (she also played basketball i school). She was only 17 years old. Koga invited her to audition for Gacharic Spin as a "microphone performer", a title that she didn't particularly care for but she very much wanted to be a part of Gacharic Spin. She impressed the members that I call the core four of Gacharic Spin - F Chopper Koga, guitarist Tomo-zo, keyboardist Oreo Reona and drummer Sano Hana (the member that made Angie the most nervous) - and she was asked to join. At the time of the October, 2019 concert she was still more than two months away from turning 18. This past Christmas Day, Angie celebrated her 21st birthday. In March, 2019 Gacharic Spin also added a drummer named yuri. In the video, yuri is the drummer on stage right while Hana is on stage left. Adding yuri as drummer allowed Hana to move up front as a guitar player. Hana is a vocalist/multi-instrumentalist who I consider the Dave Grohl of Japan. Besides being a very good vocalist, she is a great drummer, great guitarist, very good bassist and very good on piano/keyboards (most Japanese musicians grew up playing piano). Since Hana had played drums in the band for so long, they had the extra drum kit for her. During the concert, she played both drums and guitar. I also highly recommend their music video for the song Mindset. Everyone shines in the video. Hana is back on the drums because yuri was unavailable (I think she might have suffered an injury). @@danw6048 You may be thinking of Tomo-zo who was hospitalised for a month or so back in 2018, for that period of time Hana played guitar and sang and Murata Tamu of Nemophila drummed for them. That was the seed of the idea that they ended up turning into the band reconfiguration when they brought Yuri on in 2019.

My 13-month-long exploration of Gacharic Spin's music has been a journey down the rabbit hole (all in a good way, except when I have to work); seems appropriate in that they have a recent song entitled Rabbit Hole! Very much worth the time to explore as many of their songs as you can. They're all different, and each time they perform any one of their songs, there's always a little variation. Their backstory (as much as I know of it) is a series of rebounds from setbacks (departures, illness, injury, family needs), and they always manage to land on their feet and keep making and performing music through it all. They really are present-day legends!

Hana, one of the double drums, was an early member and was a drum & vocalist, but with the withdrawal of the guitar, we welcomed a new drum member, yuri, and joined the guitar & vocals, and also performed death voice on several songs. He acted with a lot of variety.

Up until a year or two before this the little Asian drummer and the red headed energizer bunny vocalist were not a part of this band. The other drummer, Hana, was the drummer and lead vocalist as well as the person who wrote most of the music. They brought in the new drummer so Hana could be out front playing guitar. Oh, did I mention that she is a master of all the instruments on stage? The red head was brought in as a hype girl but with the understanding that she would be getting more and more leads. There was something weird about this stage that caused Hana to bring out her drums and do six?

Great band. They are probably my favourite female band from Japan alongside Lovebites, at least when it comes to the somewhat well-known ones. I also like some more obscure ones such as eX-Girl.
Try the MV for Mindset as well as the live versions. The MV is Angelina (Angie) debut for her I believe. She started with the band when she was only 17, last I heard she is 20 now. And I have to give her credit, she is a bucket of energy. In fact, I call the whole crew, "Energy Personified".
The macaroni drum set that Hana is playing on is supposed to project more sound out to the audience.
In this environment I doubt it makes much difference but Hana has had these drums going way back to the day where you could practically touch the performers. Might have helped then…

Also a note on clothing, ga…cha..ric spin has had an extreme eclectic choice of wardrobe I’ve the years but when their label victor picked them up they were forced into uniforms with slight nods to their individual style.
You can tell exactly when they managed crawl out from victor’s thumb. The drummer became single dad cyclist, the guitarist was basically little bo peep and Oreo the keyboardist became a cheeseburger…

In common with a lot of Japanese groups (particularly idol groups), Gacharic Spin members adopted characters from their earliest incarnation. By the time they signed to Victor, they were also colour-coded, another common tactic seen in Japanese pop groups to help identify members. For the release of KAKUHEN they adopted a red uniform (not quite identical designs), but from the G-litter album onward they have been doing pretty much whatever they like, including the Oreo-burger. At the moment they are probably the closest to street fashion they have ever been, although TOMO-ZO stays very much in character.
The Ghost Rule video is excellent but like everything else on the Go Luck! EP it's a cover version, so doesn't get recommended very often when people want to see Gacharic Spin. It's worth seeing the originals tracks covered on the EP if you haven't already done so - the Pocket Biscuits and Kome Kome Club tracks are bangers. You can clearly see where GS got inspiration.

This performance was from their 10th anniversary concert in October, 2019. Since the show was filmed for Blu-Ray, they went all out in their performance. In February, 2019 they added the front vocalist that goes by Angelina 1/3 because she is Japanese. Spanish and Filipino. She is normally just called Angie. The band's bassist, with the great stage name of F Chopper Koga, happened to see Angie at a high school festival. Although she had wanted to be a singer for a few years, Angie had just recently joined the band that was performing (she also played basketball i school). She was only 17 years old. Koga invited her to audition for Gacharic Spin as a "microphone performer", a title that she didn't particularly care for but she very much wanted to be a part of Gacharic Spin. She impressed the members that I call the core four of Gacharic Spin - F Chopper Koga, guitarist Tomo-zo, keyboardist Oreo Reona and drummer Sano Hana (the member that made Angie the most nervous) - and she was asked to join. At the time of the October, 2019 concert she was still more than two months away from turning 18. This past Christmas Day, Angie celebrated her 21st birthday.
In March, 2019 Gacharic Spin also added a drummer named yuri. In the video, yuri is the drummer on stage right while Hana is on stage left. Adding yuri as drummer allowed Hana to move up front as a guitar player. Hana is a vocalist/multi-instrumentalist who I consider the Dave Grohl of Japan. Besides being a very good vocalist, she is a great drummer, great guitarist, very good bassist and very good on piano/keyboards (most Japanese musicians grew up playing piano). Since Hana had played drums in the band for so long, they had the extra drum kit for her. During the concert, she played both drums and guitar.

Just to clarify, Yuri was unavailable for the MindSet and I Wish I videos in 2021 as she was on maternity leave. They were very supportive of her taking time off even though she was quite a new addition to the band, she has been back full-time with the band since early 2022!

@@danw6048 You may be thinking of Tomo-zo who was hospitalised for a month or so back in 2018, for that period of time Hana played guitar and sang and Murata Tamu of Nemophila drummed for them. That was the seed of the idea that they ended up turning into the band reconfiguration when they brought Yuri on in 2019.

My 13-month-long exploration of Gacharic Spin's music has been a journey down the rabbit hole (all in a good way, except when I have to work); seems appropriate in that they have a recent song entitled Rabbit Hole! Very much worth the time to explore as many of their songs as you can. They're all different, and each time they perform any one of their songs, there's always a little variation. Their backstory (as much as I know of it) is a series of rebounds from setbacks (departures, illness, injury, family needs), and they always manage to land on their feet and keep making and performing music through it all. They really are present-day legends!
