Am I missing something? The video details what causes flat feet (which was educational) but doesn't seem to answer the question in the title: How to fix flat feet. They direct you to their 'program' for that.
Yeah, it's a 10-minute ad. And he still managed to display his shallow understanding of the science in that time. Less flat-footedness in barefoot walkers is not necessarily due to their walking in barefeet, but the fact that people who walk in barefeet tend to spend more time walking on softer surfaces rather than concrete. We are not adapted to be constantly walking on hard surfaces, so the right shoes will help most of us more than going barefoot will. But yeah if you are running through the prairies chasing rabbits all day I guess he's right.
@@wallis_sin-yu Sorry to tell you: it doesn´t is the result on walking on concrete. The weak muskles are at cause. Mostly because of all day sitting and like he explains: the shoes. Greetings, a physical therapist.

I tell myself I have royalty in my bloodline since strenuous time on my feet causes me to rest a lot. Then I laugh at all my arched foot peasants working long hours in the field as I prop my non-callous feet up after taking a 5 minute stroll outside. But this brought me back to reality. Very informative - thanks.
I've had high arches but fallen ones as well. I am in the 95th percentile for high arches in over 50 countries. Genetically I have huge calfs and never worked out as a kid. Also, I was told by chiropractors to wear arches and shoes in the house. Today I have weak feet, fallen arches and bent knees. I'm 22 years old and this video explained everything perfectly so that I understood how my past issues caused this to happen over time. I now have back, hip, knee issues at 22. Exercise and stay healthy please. Losing weight significantly helps too!
I'm 24 and been having severe hip and especially knee pain on one side for over a year. I really hope I can fix my weak feet and that I will soon not be in pain anymore... even had physiotherapie and special soles made for me - nothing seems to work. Good luck on your journey!

I'd like to say thank you for these videos. I suffer from plantar fasciitis and bone spurs from working on my feet. I tried two podiatrists over the years thus have had orthodontics, made it all worse. The information you are sharing is priceless. American Drs don't take time to educate their patients, it's in and out the door. I've ordered toe separators and am going to buy barefoot shoes as soon as I have money to. I've worked barefoot two days, against rules but I told my boss it's that or I'm calling off as I can't walk. So next check shoes! For now stretches and toe spacers daily. Thank you from the bottom of my heart to my mending feet!
You’ve no idea how much your advise has helped me since youtube recommended this channel. For years I have endured a bunion on my right foot with my small toes joining in so to speak, it was embarrassing to look at and meant I couldn’t wear any type of open shoe as the large toe tab would be uncomfortable. After one episode I looked down how I walked and ran only to seeing my right foot was angling inwards from a weak ankle causing my bunion, it was literally a eureka moment and I knew it could be solved by myself. Well just want to say thanks I have renewed hope, Merry Christmas.
Would be nice to see proof that someone that has been rehabilitated. I just never heard of someone ever regaining an arch. Maybe you guys could post a video of a before and after of a client you helped?
It also hurts a lot when you're wearing shoes, at least that's how it was when I was young. I couldn't stand them they felt like cages for my feet and all my feet wanted to do was break out, I couldn't stand it till I was older.
I actually know that I have weak glutes so I decided to check if my knees were looking inward like you’ve shown. And lo and behold they actually are. So I decided to rotate them back to where they supposed to be and my arch actually raises. Damn, internet is really a blessing.
Thanks, i just tried rotating the kness to face forward like you mentioned, youre right it automatically lifts the arches and you can feel your gluts tighten.
I'm 20 and I have flat feet. Everyone makes fun of the way I walk and stuff but it doesn't really bother me😂 ..My only concern is the pain I'm going to feel later on.😔
I'm 18 and have this crap. Though my feet aren't completely flat, I have a minimal arch, but it is still not enough. I'm doing exercises, also I recommend walking on gravel or like a rocky beach, trails etc. and any uneven surface so you can train and use your feet the way they are supposed to be used. Barefoot shoes aren't good for walking on concrete. They offer 0 support and there's 0 benefit from walking on such a flat, hard surface. I think some cushion can help a little bit. Either way, you should always look forward to walking on uneven surfaces. I also think of getting toe socks so I can walk in them unshod on gravel etc.
Thanks for the cover pic. I've been wearing barefoot shoes for about a month now and noticed that the bones of top of my foot felt higher. I wasn't sure if that was normal or right so the pic helped show that I'm actually on the right track.

I’m sorry to hear about your foot issues. However, I’m also sorry to say that there is no quick fix or ‘magic pill’ for this. One needs to put in the necessary effort into claiming back their health. I have a curious point I personally have some low arches, which don't affect me usually, but when I searched for information, I noticed that many people would suggest that we wear shoes with arch support (that is, shoes with protrusions on the arch of the insole), saying It can help balance the force on the soles of the feet and relieve fatigue on the soles of the feet. At the same time, I also found that some people think that we should try to avoid shoes with arch support, because arch support will replace or reduce the force of our original muscles, causing muscle degeneration or even atrophy. What I'm curious about is: 1. Which of the above statements is more correct or has more correct parts? 2. If don’t consider the problems of flat feet or high arches that affect your life, for people with normal arches or people with low arches like me but the problem is not serious, should try to choose shoes with arch support or Shoes without arch support? Hope to know your opinion
I'm just getting into the space of barefoot vs non barefoot and I think barefoot is the way to go no matter your arch size. I hope you can find your answer for your questions soon.

Fix? I have 'fallen' arches. I am developmentally flat-footed, not congenitally flat-footed. I've been told by many doctors that the arch is ultimately supported by ligaments. And... ligaments are kinda like an elastic band. If you stretch it too far for too long a period of time it won't return to its original (shorter) length. My understanding is that you can't do that with any kind of exercise. It requires surgery, and there are a variety of surgeries I've heard about to deal with this issue. Not minor surgery, however. I believe what you're talking about is mitigating many of the adverse consequences of having fallen arches. I'm not sure I'd call that a 'fix', however. Once one stops doing the exercises, after some period of time the arches are just going to go back to whatever the ligaments will accommodate. Are you claiming that your exercises can restore the lost elasticity of the supporting ligaments and permanently shorten them up?
ive had flat feet my entire life and went to many many doctors with none of them knowing, I told my parents and due to it switching the pain between all 3 pelvis feet and knees they thought that I was lying. I'm not sure if I should exercise or just stay in bed and let it heal on its own. Now I can actually tell between what is going on and how to stop it. Thanks For The Help.

Walking posture seriously helped me increase my foot arch. As a child I had horrendously flat feet, focusing on my back posture and a strong heel-toe motion whilst walking significantly reduced my flat feet.

I’m flat footed, and have been affected by this my entire life. Being born and raised in Hawaii, I’ve been barefoot while inside the house as well as when I played outside. I’ve since then moved from Hawaii to California. Even in the mainland, we still predominantly are barefoot indoors; even going outside for minor tasks like check the mail, get something from the car, etc…barefoot. I’ve come across these videos because UA-cam (Google) must have found out that I am suffering with bunions, so doing what the algorithm does, she goes, “hey, you might want to watch this…”. My bunion (predominantly on my left foot) is most likely caused by my flat footedness. In my case, where flat footedness may be genetic issue, can this be corrected?

It seems to be a temporary aid for acute situations but not the solution.

What would the recommended steps be if walking bare feet gets really uncomfortable? Gotta stand for hours a day, and I couldn't fathom doing that without a cushioned, supported shoe arch
Though I don't have to stand for hours, I understand the punishment of a hard surface on the feet (or perhaps not the strongest of feet). What I find best is alternating between footware options during the day and perhaps removing shoes to stretch and relax feet while put up and at rest. All that said, I never thought I could walk longer distances without my high-end gel runners, yet now find I go quite well in a pair of sport sandals, like Merrell.... all are arched mind you, though the sandal, less so.
Confused , so do not wear arch support shoes ? My work boots kill my feet , I put in arch support pads ...now I can work all day pain free. Is this only making my situation worse ?

I have moderate bunions, moderate flat feet, and moderate plantar fasciitis. I've been wearing wide "yoga foam" skechers now almost exclusively for almost a decade, and very supportive shoes, "strutz" support for the PF, and toe spacers for the bunions. Christopher, I just myself got barefoot type shoes to start with. Not wearing to gym, but trying to wear when I’m just moving around. I’ve only had them 2 weeks and I feel a difference. I’m also stretching my toes and ankles and bending to stretch my hamstrings. I feel like it’s helping! And I plan on continuing! Please buy a cheap pair to start with! I’m so happy I saw channels like these so my stiff flat feet can start to heal! I hope you have great success!
Thank you so much for confirming it for me that I DONT have flat feet! I always felt so frustrated to see that my feet seemed to have what it takes to be arched, yet no physician/podiatrist, nor foot and ankle specialist was ever able to tell me why I had flat feet while, yet, I always left an arched-looking foot print on the ground, another person could always slide a paper under my arch while i stood barefoot, and wore out my shoes on the out step (supinate) rather than wearing them out on the instep (like when you primate). And what’s worse is that even when I told them these observations they would simply brush off my concerns and pretty much tell me to suck it up and wear inserts because “there’s no way of correcting this issue”. I even asked them if there was a way to strengthen the muscles of the feet, and they’d would immediately say NO. I wonder if these “doctors” have some secret business with the shoe insert companies! I don’t believe in conspiracy theories, but to see them constantly insist in the no existence of a solution other than inserts, makes it hard not to want to think of shady underground deals!
I jumped into barefoot shoes too fast and now I have injured my posterior tibial muscle / tendon. Isn't that the same thing as a fallen arch? If I go without shoes right now, I'm in a world of pain. I'm surprised that was one of your tips for recovering from fallen arch.
All babies have flat feet. Arches form during early childhood. If arches don't develop - or they collapse later in life (fallen arches) - flat feet can cause pain and affect walking.
My arch actually goes out and away from my foot haha even raising my foot off the ground it stays flat. It can be extremely painful and inconvenient but there are worse things to have!

Great video. You mentioned 40% of the US population is suffering from flat feet or a collapsed arch. Now, about 80% of the Amrican population obese and fat. Half of the problems with the arch won't be fixed until they fix their body weight and shape. Spot fixing is hard as long as the foundation is non optimal
We are all born with flat feet. The foot arches develop by the age of around 6. However, if the arches fail to develop properly by that age, it may be a sign that there were certain lifestyle factors in place at the time which were not conducive for proper foot development. For example, there are studies which show that when children spend the majority of their time wearing shoes before the age of 6, they have a significantly greater chance of having flat feet in life comparatively to those who were predominantly barefoot. Despite all this, the foot arches can still be stimulated and developed later in life using the steps presented in this video.

Thanks for the explanation. Have you ever seen flat feet causing osteochondrosis dissecans in the knee? Based on your explanation I think it could be a possible cause, considering the outside of the knee gets stressed more due to the foot collapsing. Also in your experience is it still possible to fix this issue at 40 years old?
Never too late. I fixed my flat feet at 35-40. Nothing is too late unless you’re already in the grave. The sooner the better but better later than never also.
You need to stretch & strengthen the muscles on the front (shin) & back (calf) of your foot. Weak muscles actually contract to become shorter & that's how they deal with being weak. Think of a rubberband, if you make it shorter, it seems stronger. Either way, your shins/calves muscles are tighter because they're weak &/or havnt been stretched in a long time. This results in them pulling on the foot incorrectly & then the shape of it is distorted, the arch does form because the toes & heal are being pulled up by tight muscles. Also there is the footwear itself which restricts the proper function of the foot. Sneakers with raised heels artificially make your foot roll & the foot loses this function. Also the tight toe boxes on most shoes prevent you to fully rotate from the hell unto the toes. Basically I would do 2 things, get yourself 0 shoes/sneakers. These have the sole perfectly flat where they dont raise the rear of the foot & the toe boxes are wide so your toes have space to spread out & function properly when you walk. You want to simulate bare feet walking on grass/beach. Second, stretch & strengthen your shin & calf muscle, the lower portion of your leg. Your ankle has very limited motion & your stride is off.

Bunions are also taken as a sign of ill-fitting shoes; crushing the toes together and creating these damaging and foot-altering bunions that reduce balance and stability. However, they can also be genetic and therefore shoes merely exacerbate a predisposition. Your flat-footedness sounds genetic as well, thus you're already at a disadvantage though perhaps that's all the more reason to pursue arch strengthening exercises and use barefoot shoes in order to overcome that which your genetics has burdened you with. In all demographics there exists the nth% that seem to have all the traits of something that is exemplified by negative connotations. But don't feel disheartened, that just makes you a perfect example that sometimes it's our genetics we are fighting against, not just the footwear or clothing additions that modify how our bodies perform...

That's a great way of thinking! I'm gonna use that from now on! lol

Wearing arches is like using a crutch. Dont do it unless you have to, and try to get out of that situation as fast as possible

Just last week i found out i am flat footed. It was my friend who noticed and told me and i didnt know about it. After that i searched about flat foot and i really am.
Now i understand why my ankle, knees, and back hurts. Also my job requires a lot of standing so i almost dragged my other leg upon going home. Walking for a long time causes my feet to hurt a lot .

Have u got rid of ur bunion?
How is the bunion now? I'm suffering from the same thing but on my left leg
The quality of this channel’s analysis is insane, love your content !
Everyone makes fun of the way I walk and stuff but it doesn't really bother me😂 ..My only concern is the pain I'm going to feel later on.😔
Im 24 and already have knee and hip pain... I hope it won't end like this for you.
Same here bro,my brother makes fun of me everytime I run 😂
Because,it is kinda related to the way you walk run or do some athletic movement like squatting

I’m sorry to hear about your foot issues. However, I’m also sorry to say that there is no quick fix or ‘magic pill’ for this. One needs to put in the necessary effort into claiming back their health. I have a curious point
I personally have some low arches, which don't affect me usually, but when I searched for information, I noticed that many people would suggest that we wear shoes with arch support (that is, shoes with protrusions on the arch of the insole), saying It can help balance the force on the soles of the feet and relieve fatigue on the soles of the feet. At the same time, I also found that some people think that we should try to avoid shoes with arch support, because arch support will replace or reduce the force of our original muscles, causing muscle degeneration or even atrophy.
What I'm curious about is:

It can be corrected, contact a podiatrist. He or she may tell you the best fix for this issue.

My son has always had flat feet and ankles that turn inward. He is 2.5 years old. Should I try to fix this in any way? It’s very pronounced
I’m not sure that I can talk because I’m 14, however this is very painful when exercising. I suggest trying to correct it early on, or at least that’s what I over hear my parents saying.

@@YaH_Gives_Wisdom Ok then tell me how did you fix it. If you don't answer then you're just a liar.
But what if you were born with them?
Thank you
I have very flat feet but am able to perform at a high intensity in sports. However, I sometimes experience pain in my feet. Is this the beginning of a larger issue, or could I continue doing sports without any special treatment? Thanks!
i used to be in your position but i never bothered helping my flat feet and they got worse and hurt so badly after excercise so i’d highly recommend doing excercies to help fix your flat feet now before it worsens
@@timmynaan9337 thank you so much! I’ve been kinda worried about my feet for a while. Also, how did it worsen? Just curious, because I think my feet are already as flat as they can get (I can’t fit any sort of object underneath my “arch”).

I’m scheduled to have foot surgery in a month to fix my flat feet and wondering if this will solve it.
Why on earth was I told flat feet were just a hereditary foot type -_-
Also, I rarely ever wore or wear shoes and have had flat feet my whole life. My entire family does too. Im talking mom, dad, aunts and uncles on both sides. I’m so confused.
I got my flat feet from my dad's side of the family.
Brilliant explanation
Dude my both feet were pronated and my left foot is slightly overpronated and this combination will ruined my entire lower body shape like knee valgus uneven hips and I tried lots of exercises for strengthen arch and glutes from past 6 months they don't give any permanent result . And I consult lots of doctors but no one improve my legs and finally I conclude that if your ankles were weak whatever exercises you do for your fallen arch they're never gonna be correct and finally I started strengthen my ankles from past 1weak believe me I observed tremendous changes in my leg 😊
Excellent work, I’m so glad to hear that you are finally seeing positive results! Keep it up! And keep us updated on your future progress.
great info , what ankle exercises are you doing and videos i can look up?

what an amazing video. Explained with style.
Lift shoes are comfortable than flat one.
I have a flat left foot and this makes a lot of sense now that I'm going to the gym, my left knee tends to rotate inwards when doing squats and I have some pain on the inside side of the knee
So much informative thanks
My mates said it looks like I shat my shorts everytime I run on the pitch
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Barefoot shoes saved my feet. Planter fasciitis sucks.
Flat feet are literally the worst. I'm sure there are plenty of people who have taken their own lives due to the constant, unbearable pain caused by them. Having flat feet and the pain that comes with it often makes me regret the day I was born.
As somebody with literally zero foot arch and flat foot complications:
Bro, WTF? Suicide? Regret the day you were born?
NGL either you're one of the most privileged people alive or you've got significantly bigger problems that being flat footed.
