Good video big pencil you and your dad bring back a lot of memories of a time when I grew up in a little town of Port Royal down in Beaufort South Carolina my dad and my brother and I would spend a lot of time on the water catching fish crabbing and shrimping thanks for taking us along really enjoyed watching you and your dad in this video
I taught my wife how catch Blue Crab about 25 years ago. She fell slam in love wit it. And she knows how to crack some serious shell and put um away too. She'll out do me and Ive been doing it for about 52 years haha !!!...You guys are great !!!
Awesome Brother. You an your Dad are a good team. I’m 2 yrs younger than your Dad . My oldest was about your age. Y’all remind me of us. When he was still with me. 👍
Great video guys! Our shrimping up here is done quite differently, but our coastal waters are colder, deeper and very few flats. I really like to see how you folks do this. Funny that the commercial guys are all worried about some recreational fishing, ain't nothing wrong with a person catching and eating their own food.
Used to do this with my wife driving the boat in Bulls Bay. Had our best catches at low tide rising. Didn’t do any night time and still brought in 48 quart coolers full. We always mixed about a half gallon of menhaden oil with our clay and meal. More smell to attract them. Miss doing this but too old to throw a net. Back can’t handle it anymore.
My dad and I ran poles for years. He had a buddy that lost his dentures throwing the net. He had to switch to a clothes pin on a string around his neck. Takes a while to get used to but it worked. Good luck this season.
The Deer ribs work so well because it's so greasy it creates a oil slick and makes it easy for the crabs to find. If you've ever ate a Deer rib you'll know it coats your whole mouth with a greasy film. Like the video, thanks for sharing.
Man this channel is awesome I was born and raised in Beaufort, now I live in the big city of Moncks Corner! This video has convinced me to drive to BFT this weekend and grab my poles from the in laws! LOL Thanks fro sharing this video!
Awww Man hate to hear you can't eat shrimp anymore. My wife grew up in Orangeburg SC . She ate shrimp all her life growing up then one day when she was about 20 years old she ate some that like to have killed her. She had become allergic to them and her throat swole shut on her,. lucky they were able to get her to the ER and get some meds in her to save her life. You will never regret spending time with your dad and making those memories, I wish I could spend one more day with mine.
Great channel dude. I've enjoyed the content. I live here in South Alabama, so I share you love for the great outdoors. We need to get you down here for some hunts. I'm about to start my weight loss journey as well. Congrats on your success... 1000 calories/day ain't much... LOL.. Putting down the sweet tea will be most difficult for me... Keep up the good work.
Good Lord ya'all just made me hungrier than a FAT MAN AT A EATIN CONTEST with all that fine eatin ya'all got down there in South Cackalacky!! Love your channel Ryan! You gotchew a whole ton of fans up here in Michigan. Keep them vidja's comin son!
Who in the name of God gave this man a thumbs down. Wouldn't you like take em out in them deer wood swamps and let em play with some gators Big P. Just for that, Eastern North Carolina comin at ya with some SUBS. Keep these videos comin.👍👌
My husband is from SC I'm from Ohio and were in NC now. I'm always asking him what y'all are doin. Just get a wink and get carolina men teach ya somethin lol. Awesome stuff!
Thanks for sharing and there’s nothing like spending time with your daddy and catching Sunday dinner while you doing it! How far are y’all from the coast?
Something to try. Here in Jacksonville we use cans of cat food to attract shrimp. Lot less mixing. We take ice picks pop a few holes in cans tie fishing line on to em and drop them in the water Shrimp very attracted to cat food. Last longtime
Not trying to be a know it all but have pole bated shrimp for years . If you caught all those on 11 bait patties you did well. They may have gone away when the bait went away . We always start out with 2 patties in each pole and re-bait after 3 or 4 passes . Crabs and fish love the bait too as do porpoise . We will easily use 30 to 50 patties a trip. Bulls Bay is awesome shrimping Big P. Also I have known people to be allergic to shrimp only to find out later on they aren't anymore . Get some benedryl and try a few , if you have a reaction the benedryl should take care of it .
John Forrest you must mix your bait differently than we do because we use the same bait balls for whole coolers all the time all we ever make is 10 balls and have shrimped sometimes three to four hours on those same balls pull them up in the nets several times the shrimp just wasn’t there yet couple more weeks and they will show up
Thanks for the video. What is the name of the river your on? I spent my entire childhood on goose creek on James Island. It's an amazing place to live. I wish I was there now.
Ok big P! Here's a little secret trick so you dont loose your marker poles anymore.. You know the black flexible foam insulation they put on A/C copper lines on a air conditioning unit or hot water heater pipes.. Well you cut a few small pieces of that stuff about 3 inches long and then push your poles right up through the center of them and then silicone or duct tape them in place.. put them about 4 Inches apart above the water line on the pole .. so when the pole falls over it will stay floating and you can find it again.. You can also paint them with high viz paint and put reflecting tape on the foam too so you can spot them with a light really well.. Ok buddy, good luck!!
How do you catch bait if you don't throw the net 😂😂😂 i was raised on lake texoma the nets mandatory 😂😂😂 how are you supposed to get live shad without a net😂😂 its so funny watching them City slickers buying frozen bait 😂😂
I ain't got to tell ya buddy, you already know but you a lucky dude to have such a good daddy. You must've learned to talk from your momma, he talks a little plainer than you lol. Good man.
Is it legal to tape your nets in S.C. ? You’ll catch twice the shrimp per throw. Keeps the net wide open till it hits bottom. We’ve tried both ways down here in fl. Just curious if they allow it.
Man i live near Wrightsville beach,NC and i wonder if this would be an affective method for us. There are not alot of bays in my area and waterway is a zoo with boats. Im gonna give it a try some time for sure
There is a bunch of old rice fields at the mouth of the thephuntcha River where it hits lake ponchatrain and it’s a shrimp breeding ground and there is a bar called TRivers at the beginning of the canal that runs back to the rice fields and I use to have permission from T rivers owner to fish off her pier at the mouth of that canal and back in about 2003 I was fishing there at around 2am and throwing my cast net at what I thought was fingerling mullet to use for bait and I pulled in my net There was 37 jumbo shrimp in it all were big as a banana they were jumping up and flying everywhere. I was diving in them I always keep a small bbq pit in my truck under my tool box I broke it out and at daylight I had a 120 quart ice chest full of them jumbos
You drop your bait balls beside the pole , that way you know where to throw your net to catch the shrimp that are attracted to the bait. They spread the poles out about 25- 30 feet apart , You are allowed 10 poles . You start at one end and go by each pole and cast the net. They work back and forth up and down the line of poles until they get their quota of shrimp or until they get wore out lol . Big P can correct me if I said anything wrong in the post .
I loved that there. Reminded me of my Dad an his Love of the South Carolina Coast. ... an my youth.

Good times ,dad and a son out on the water catching good food for many and talking life, those times will last .
NEVER EVER tie the net to your arm! It should be able to slip off easily. If the net catches and the boat is moving and not stopped in time,...
Big Pensel you the man!! Good eaten.. carry on Brother
Love me some shrimpz. Blue crabs too.
Hello great video how many crabs can you keep
Y’all good folk, except for gamecock shirt. Put on some Clemson orange and we would come on down from Greenville and get in some fun with you fellows.
Get a chicken wire net for those crabs.... that way they don’t get caught up in the netting
Great video man definitely subscribed

What’s the purpose of the pipes in water
Mark the location they throw baitballs at

What you use for bait when you're shrimping?
Mahaden fish meal mixed with crown clay!
When shrimp go bad, it's bad. There ain't nothing that smells worse than rotten shrimp.
What is the limit on blue crab
