- Filter Hack - Pathos Refugium Breeder Box. This is the breeder box (click link). I use these for tons of different things and they’re awesome to have around.
Getting weird with filter hacks again. It’s the job of the Administrators and the Mods to keep things in check. They have the power to delete comments or whatever if they’re not doing it shame on them there are plenty of fish groups for you to join and get real help. Man, they're volunteering. Admins don't get paid, they do it for us. Its a lot of work, and considering the volume of posts/comments they do a good job. If there's a problem you should tag them so that they can see it and resolve the issue.
People who are rude to others online it's only because they are not happy in theyre personal lives and the only way they feel better is to put down other people online ...n I say online because I bet u would think twice on being rude to me in person lol.....so get a life n be happy rude people ...
That is not true. People can be critical of bad information being spread, or critical of people asking questions that could easily be answered by a Google search. Such criticisms, have nothing to do with whether a person is happy in their life.
Fish aquarium hang on back Filter hack. Most people are super nice, the negative ones just tend to stand out a bit more. You'd be hard pressed to find any other population of 65,000 people who get along as well as people here do. The admins put a lot of time and effort into keeping it that way, but at this point it really comes down to numbers. No way to keep negative people out without restricting access to the group, and no one wants that.
I kinda been trying to just kill the ones that come in with inferiority with kindness and just remain looking out for the original post best I could. Then deleting what I have said to them to not take away from the original poster. That’s the whole part that’s upsetting is the people get so crazy they don’t even think about the person seeking advice from the start. They just want to prove they are awesome and think being aggressive over the web is how to do it. Lol. I just love the hobby and want to see people see less head ache being new or new to an experience so they remain in the hobby rather than stress their problems or worries about a new thing.
I agree, there are no dumb questions. Even things that seem simple to more experienced users (bettas needing a heater/filter, nitrogen cycle, water changes) can be confusing to new members. Having a safe and supportive place for people to ask questions is the best way for people to learn. Usually if a post gets out of hand ill just talk to people directly. Tends to be easier that way.

I thought I was the only one that used my breeder box as a planter but the way you feed the water to it is pretty cool brotha. Thanks for sharing and as always do what you do if it works for you.

that’s absolutely brilliant. i own ranchus and they love eating any type of plants i put in, but this is great. i can keep watch of my nitrate using plants and not worry about my ranchus eating them. thanks for the tips!!

did the power filter sit that high? or did you have to elevate ?
SLAM BOY the filter looks to just be a tall one. My aquaclear doesn’t sit that high so I don’t think this hack would work for me. Brilliant tho!
Just wondering, what would be your thoughts on putting the heater in the HOB refugium? I'd use suction cups so as to not have the heater touch the plastic. I'm just wondering if this would be advisable, but I see plenty of people putting the heater in sumps.

I wouldn't do that unless you have a really high flow going thru ur breeder box - a high flow u could only get attaching a water pump to the intake. If its a trickle like his the heat will dissipate before it even reaches the tank.
Great idea! Just purchased a large Fluval breeder and I will definitely use it as a refugium for copepods and cultivating aiptasia for my bergia nudibranch.

Maybe to avert any possible disasters, like if the tubing pops out of the breeder box and pours onto the floor, you can just turn the box around and let it hang into the tank. Plant the pothos in it with gravel, punch holes in box and let tank water flow through it.

Yeah I’m gonna put one in my sump with cheato in it with a small light. We’ll see haha
But what If the filter is nasty with poop and ammonia? And you have baby fry in the breeder box? 🤔🤨
I do that with my breeder box but I also use media as well maybe through some lava rocks in the breeder ?
But this comes with a pump
