Penang Food Desa Aman Puri Sri Damansara Chew Jetty Restaurant Penang Chiak KL Kuala Lumpur

The test of Penang food is that they use REAL Hor Fun for Char Hor Fun and NOT Koay Teow!
I have tried:
1. Char Hor Fun (only hor fu without bee hoon is recommended, add egg for the extra ummph)
2. Hokkien Char (this is not the think black noodles ubiquitous with KL)
3. Oh Mee (Oyster Noodle, basically Hokkien Char with Oysters)
4. Char Chee Cheong Fun (you will like it)
5. Char Tang Hoon (great stuff! - I was contemplating this as no. 4)
6. Char Koay Teow with Chicken and also Duck egg - seems the same to me
7. Char Koay Kak (the real stuff, not the KL fried carrot cake)
8. Penang Chee Cheon Fun (if you are a Penangite you know what I mean)
Verdict, loved all the above! They are stacked in order of what I think is great! As you can see, in any Penang Hawker fare dining, you need a group and everyone orders SMALL and share! After you have tried, then next time you can choose one enjoyable meal for yourself!
I have also tried these and I could not place it as awesome. They need a little bit more work. They are ranks as can try until... can skip
1. Hokkien Mee (bro, in Penang, this is Hokkien Mee not the black think noodles) - the soup needs more prawn flavour
2. Penang Curry Mee (lamely labelled as white curry mee by the KLites) - mom thinks it is great, I think the soup is not thick enough
3. Lobak
4. Cendol and Ice Kacang - basically the desserts are not what you expect as Penang standard - can skip
If you managed to be patient and read until the end...the owners are from Penang. Chew Jetty is quite touristy today. In the old days before the 1980s, it is not a place you want to go in. Different clans live out in jetties. Things can get quite rough in those neighbourhood on stilts.
