Yeah chains work really good I’ve got some too. As long as you don’t get in a situation where you get high centered or pushing snow with the front end you’ll be fine
Agree. Getting high centered is what will stop any ATV or 4 wheeled vehicle. So far I haven't seen that condition on the ice. Many times, the wind will blow the snow around and into drifts. I just go around them.
I've been running this setup for years. I also have the lockout and it makes the ride stiffer but does the job. I sold my sled for an ATV. We don't get that much snow in southern Ontario to justify a sled. I will be getting tracks for up north trips where the snow is too deep.
I love hearing this because it helps justify my decision. I see a lot of sleds on the ice here in MN and WI in the states. Our snow can vary from year to year and this year its very deep. The sled guys are loving it. So far, this machine has be great. It has made it to all my spots with no issues. Thanks for watching.
Dave great video I really like how the squat problem got solved it looks great ! I got my stabilizer ordered. 👍 I’m also going to order some Kenda Bear Claw HTRs for my Suzuki and that should help a ton too !
Great video. I grew up in Stillwater and moved to Ottertail. Thinking of a Yamaha atv. I was told it has more height or clearance than a Honda. Not sure if i want to trust anything else. Am I wrong?
Yes, I am going to do that going forward. I am glad you brought this up because after I finished shooting that video, I could smell the belt a little. No reason to run it High for this condition. Like you said, you can't go fast anyway, better to save the belt.
Hahaha. It was a bit slow that day but I did put one nice one top side. The St. Croix used to be great but this year the reports and my time out there hasn't been super good so far. Better than sitting inside on the couch..
Agree with you!! Located just to the west of you so glad to see your in my area. My same conditions.
Thanks for watching. Seems like the right choice so far. This machine has really surprised me so far. Really capable.
Thanks for the video. That slush was a concern of mine also.
I really thought I was going to get stuck but it wasn't even close to stalling out. So far, the ATV has been a good decision vs a Sled.

So happy I have a long track 2 up fan cooled sled. Going away from a wheeler is the best thing I’ve ever done.

Its working well. New Tires are on my wish list for sure and the Bear Claws are at the top of my list. Great snow tire from what I can tell.

What size of motor on ATV? Is a 500 big enough for a 220lb dude, gear, and chains plowing through snow or is that gonna burn up tbe engine? Thx
Which set of chains did you end up going with, and where did you get them from?
I’m curious about this as well
Got on Amazon. Nothing special. Just basic tire chains.
Where did you get the chain tensioner from
My polaris dealer said there's no reason you cannot put chains on the front of your 4 Wheeler if the chains fit it does not wreck anything
Thanks for this info. I might put them on. Will help with steering and traction.
Do you use v bar chains?
Yes. Standard V bar chains
I'd be running it in low gear. Beings you aren't running very fast.

First! Was anything biting?
