Lyrics:
Uhm...ok, like...s-see there's this...and..well and the, the...nevermind. Forget it, you wouldn´t understand anyway.
The best! I used to drive my friends crazy playing this single back in the day. They didn't get it. Not sure I did. Do. Forget it.
LMFAO ROTF
Hello
Me too
You didn understand anyway.
I will be a little more coherent than the song. I do get it and I could explain it to you, but if I did, you wouldn't understand anyway.
One of the many reasons why the band’s motto was “Flipper suffered for their art, now it’s your turn.”
Jump in the churn
you mean they were fans of Neil Innes ?
Aside from the length and voice over, this is the most straightforward hardcore song I've heard from Flipper.
I used to have this single (red vinyl) and it intentionally skipped at the end -- 'Forget it you wouldn't understand, forget it you wouldn't understand...' over and over.... Very clever.
Still can't listen to this without laughing so hard I nearly fall out of my chair! There's a reason why they were considered the most sarcastic band in the land! Lol!
And great live
Had this 45 back in the 80s (flipside of Sex Bomb). The silence between each iteration created bands on the disc such that the surface of the record was a series of about 12 concentric circles. Very cool effect and still a very cool tune.
And it had the groove not go far enough inward so the record arm would never automatically pick up, and it would endlessly repeat "forget it you wouldn't understa-".
I listened to this song so many times when I was about seven years old. Me and my best friend at the time. The record belonged to his older sister who at the time was considered 'mod.' I never forgot this song but could never track it down. I thought it might have been Agent Orange. So today I happened to read an interview with David Yow from Jesus Lizard, and he described this song in detail! Amazing! Forty-two years later, I finally found it. The run-on groove at the end of this 45 blew me away as a kid. Thanks, Flipper!
Awesome! I Still have my 45❤
I saw them do this live once, and Bruce Loose asked the crowd how many times they should do it.
I just saw them play last night in Portland, OR. Great, great, great show. David Yow singing.
I used to listen to a college radio show where host would play this song, and insert random phone calls into the station during the pauses between each iteration of the tune.
Wainsted All Night
Bill Geiger Were you one of the callers?
Wcsb 89.3 Cleveland Ohio did it
@@chetrok1 I remember that and it took me years to find out the name of the song.
@@jcd1970 me too!!, I had zero clue it was Flipper
I want this played at my funeral.
basically a lullaby when I was an extremely alienated teenager/young adult.
I used to know a guy in New Jersey who recorded a 90-minute cassette of this 'song'. From Clifton to Wildwood in the backseat of a 1977 Chevy Nova and a full tank of gas. 💊💊💊🤪
On the LP... the final part is a constant loop that just plays over and over and over till you pick up the needle arm. It just keeps repeating "you wouldn´t understand anyway....you wouldn´t understand anyway.....you wouldn´t understand anyway....you wouldn´t understand anyway.....".
J. Adanin Oh, yeah, had that as a single. Chortle!!!!
That's...brilliant.
@@andypostema4269 yes it is..........yes it is .........yes it is...........yes it is ..................you wouldn't understand anyway
I used to quote this at school when I was teased for my different taste in music... I'd throw these small town kids the flipper fish and then quote Brainwash... It was a lot of fun to watch their reaction! Lol!
That's pretty cool you must've been pretty cool.
The coolest you wouldn't understand anyway
Ever FORCE THEM TO LISTEN AGAINST THEIR WILL WHILE THEY WERE HIGH AND GET NICKNAMED MR> BUZZ KILL nevermind forget it u wouldn't anyway
Um ok...like..see there's this thing...and...well and then uh...nevermind forget it,you wouldn't understand anyways.....
Thanks for the tip!
Lol..Anytime,man
No, it's anyway, not anyways. Grammar!
Yes, thank you for catching that. Sorry, but my editor was out of the office that day nearly 4 years ago...So, I went ahead and had Flipper's lyrics published "anyway".
Correct version:
""Um...okay, like...s-see there's this...and...well and then uh...never mind, forget it; you wouldn't understand anyway..."
Classic hardcore , sweet memories of the good old days .
Cleveland. The best radio stations in the country!
This is currently my favourite song.
This song is the best
Probably my fave Flipper tune.
So incredible ❤
i have a flipper joke nevermind forget it you woudnt get it anyways
I lolled
I have a framed Flipper painting signed by the entire band.
cool
so love this song. heard it first in berkeley i think in early 80s didnt know who it was for a few years.
I heard this back in 1981 on a friend's cassette tape. Then I moved to another city. I described this song to people over the years, but no one knew what I was talking about. Finally! I found out the name of this song and who played it. It only took 38 years!
@@markfrazier7442 WAS IT IN HOUSTON TEXAS?
@@stephenspark9358 I first heard it in Houston. When I moved El Paso I couldn't find anyone who knew anything about it
Ha, ha, this is brilliant! Over 6 minutes of the same 27 second punk rock song played over and over.... brainwashed!
I can't talk rn, I'm sick. ~Russell Wilkinson, Haight St, Jan. 1987
Thanks for putting this on. Forgot about this rip
I need a 10 hour version.
Lmao bet imma make one soon.
I finally understand why Kurt Cobain loved this band!!! 😂😂😂😂
Just saw this live opening for the garden this was such a bop
16 Trax of same song. Genious.
Few get it. I love it😁😍🤗😎
Ground hog day punk , b4 bill Murray , impossible to turn down
It's a pleasure! Thanks to you for watchin!
This is what you get when you let these wacky lads into the control room.
Flipper's first 2 albums rule, as do a lot of their singles like "Ha Ha Ha," but this song always bored me to death.
I guess I wouldn't understand it anyway.
Hilarious - and pure genius!
Funny thing is it sounds like me tryin to talk 40 minutes after taking Benadryl when I was 16
@@stephenspark9358 fugg i ate like 20 extra strength benadryls when i was 15 and dreamt while walking around my small town alone, i was fugged up!!
um ok like see theres like this band and but and the.. nevermind forget it you wouldnt understand anyway
Best song EVER!!!!!
Stacey Friedrich aye
I have the LP and the last line goes into a loop and never ends.
I think this song is actually brainwashing me, I just realized I had three tabs open of this song. So I did the only option, playing all three at once.
saw them at the pyramid club on ave A back in the day , doing blow n chunks , superb.
I heared this for a few hours thinking someone's put my earphones in loop
The cover art looks like a frog sitting on a lily pad holding up his middle finger. Hahah gotta love it. Yeah classic 80s jam
But to get the full effect you need 2 turntables where you can
Keep the beat going without breaks.
Outta sudden Nirvana's "Nevermind" took on a whole new meaning to me. And the t-shirt Kurt was wearing says it all.
The first time I head Flipper was on 'Rodney on the Rock' KROQ ... classic.
.... really miss hearing Rodney , Jed the Fish etc...
the first time i played this album, i thought my CD was messed up until i read the title. ya got me Flipper!
Oh I love this 😍 I have it on an ancient bootleg tape and just found it from ‘sex bomb’ on my YT playlist! Thanks for posting!! 🌊
😂😂😂😂 why do I crack up at this??
OMG I love this this is old from 80s
Never mind, forget it.... You wouldn't understand anyway..........
Awesome !!! Thank you for posting. Seems we all love the MUSIC !!!!
Etched into the vinyl, right next to the label.
I think one said. "Another Porky Primecut.. Dilute, Dilute, OK !!"
or I just hallucinated all of those...Anyone else remember them? You tell me, please.
Nevermind. Just forget it. You wouldn't understand anyway.
remarkable band.
Vinyl copy sticks in the groove at the end too locked. Surprised somebody hasn't posted like an 8-hour version of that thing locked in that final groove LOL
Brilliant
.......ever do nothing , and gain nothing from it.......{👁️•👁️}
Love it!
Love this.
Half of Negative Trend is here, deemed the worst band in San Francisco and planned to play after the Sex Pistols set at Winterland that never happened. Masters of subtlety the original Flipper were.
OMG! It's llike a mid-trip, LSD brain-loop. :::SYNCH:::
1 2 3 4
this reminds me of being on drugs 0.0 tripping
Oh yea!
Does anyone have ANY idea what is being said in the back ground of this song? I imagine it would be relevant to the song title.
i see what you did there. ha!
***** I actually asked the singer to Flipper on Facebook (Bruce Loose Calderwood) and he said that he had a long time ago planned on releasing the lyrics to the song but the rest of the band didn't okay it. That they had a hold of them and never released it, according to Bruce the rest of the band is really stubborn with that shit which upsets me because I'd really like to know.
Jimsters Did you find the song.
Bruce has never released it, he said the rest of the band procrastinates stuff like that.
Jimsters Even without the exact lyrics, the sarcasm and attitude are palpable, and I can get the point without it, but still you kinda want to know anyway... Maybe the band will relent and release it eventually. Either way I'll continue laughing my ass of!
It was awesome, the ending was sad…
Um ok like see there was this , and well and the nevermind , forget it you wouldnt understand anyway.
esta es de las canciones más raras y geniales que he escuchado
first troll song in history of sound uh!well..see..there is..ok..best troll song even before troll concept exist..

I wanna fkn know what Loose is yelling in the backgrounf
Heard em sing this, the backing vocals up front, at a soundcheck once.
I absolutely fucking hate it. 10/10

Ask Silent Bob , when the record ends he will explain the secret background lyrics

Hi Ted

Um ok see
mmh I don't know...not sure
Pretty sure this is the source for one notorious grunge album lmao
It was. Cobain told me so at the The Palace in Hollywood all those decades ago. He was always thrilled to meet Flipper fans.
Is this the longest song ever on record?? :)
Dopesmoker by Sleep has this song beat by a long shot.
Perhaps... if you use the standard typical album format. But... If you allow the format the LP has for Brainwash by Flipper... you still loose. If i began the song...when I wrote this comment... it would still be playing... no matter how long this comment lives on.
You should hear the six hour version!
Oh well, whatever, nevermind
Viagra boys led me here
