Epic track - thanks for posting. Not heard it for almost 30 years. My LP records are still in my parents attic, after 30 years of [me] moving around. Has any other punk band ever dealt such incisive lyrics and killer tunes to the humdrum nature of every day life? Hopefully some peeps can update me! Thanks
Yeah, some Black Flag I guess, though IMHO not the later years, but rather the pre-Rollins years. But BF were never as intelligent on the lyrics front as Flipper. Rollins was a good front man and I've seen him live, but he always seemed to be rather narcissistic and TBH not that bright. Flipper were just ripped, brutal, unrefined and honest in their analysis of every day life.
I dont care about Rollins, just Black Flags music. I mentioned their later stuff because I find it more interesting musically and the "My War" album add some songs with Flipper-ish lyrics, though yes, its not quite like them
Good points. Both BF and Flipper were amazing bands and they have different strengths. Flipper remain awesome after all these years. Respect, much missed.
This town WAS getting kinda scary! Yeah, S.F. was scary back in the 80's. Homeless people, drugs, way too much sick sex, but the music was great! Pre-AIDES fun times.
Those days in S.F. were GREAT! However, the AIDS epidemic back in the early 80s WAS a serious issue. There were far fewer homeless then than there are now and the drug use and violence on the streets has multiplied many times over. The drugs and "sick" sex (as you call it) weren't exactly taboo in the scene either, especially heroin which unsurprisingly did take a toll on a lot of talented individuals. RIP Will Shatter.
Still their best track. Check out the Irving Plaza NYC 1987 live version - it’s the best. They played there shortly before Will’s OD which killed both him and Flipper, sadly.
One of the best songs ever
could listen this for hours
One of the best songs of the '80s, and I'm not kidding.
No doubt about it, this is as good as good gets.
never get sick of this tune
Rad one. Gem. Lo fi purity
One of the best basslines I have ever heard.
Yes! Indeed...killer.
This could be said about pretty much all their songs, but yes, there is something special about this one
almost a Dark Wave bassline
THIS IS IT.
One of the top 5 greatest punk singles I ever owned. Love this one.
Omg i love Flipper
Seen them at the Galaxy skate rink of Fullerton and the Cathay de Grande in Hollyweed

Flipper Rock
Shit yeahhh! This blows chunks!!!! ...those drums....AAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!! :)
Still their best track. Check out the Live at the On Broadway NYC version from 1987, it might be even better.

RIP Will Shatter. But Brice used to sing like this too.
Transition @ 2:28 is an all timer
R.I.P. Will.
I remember learning of his death in (of all places) The New York Times' obituary section. How weird is that?
That was a good obituary.

flipper beer is BEER
I've got this on a B side on a 45 somewhere.....
@Duraan84 That was probably from my old account.
used to see them at fenders...lol
I wish that delay effect on the snare, were actually hand claps. Like, in "Ever"
where is THE OLD LADY THAT SWALLOWED A FLY?
The wrong note Shatter hits in the beginning is rough, but The Big Fall lead is tremendous
Got a call from him in jail!
o.k.
Pretty soon now for the big fall
I was talking to Larry.....
Have you seen Mitchell?
in jail and strung out
Go Mitchel Get Away! Get Away!
Prince Harry needs to +really+ get away. He hasn't done it yet.
Sounds like "We Will Rock You" by Queen
Ok if your a yank
