Miter Saw Station Build (Part-2)

- I turned a couple of old desk tops into counter tops for my miter saw station. I used half inch plywood for the drawers and drawer front inserts. To provide some contrast I used thinned down provincial stain on the drawer front frames. I'll show you how I installed the drawers , drawer fronts and drawer pulls.

That goes to show what you can do on a budget without expensive machines. Very nice work.
What I really like is your approach and the fact that you don't have every tool known to man to make your mitre saw station. Thought seems to be the most important tool in your workshop. I'm a novice and new to woodwork but really appreciate the way you have built, and demonstrated, this project. More power to your elbow.
+Leslie Burgess Thank you so much. Your kind words mean a lot.
WoWzA Mr. Perez, Mr. Perez, that is a MIGHTY MITER STATION. What a great looking job. Love the fake drawer door for the dust collection. And the two tone gave it that pro's pro look. Can't say enough positives man.
+Tony Bryce Perez thank you for the kind words
I like that you have reasonable tools and not an expensive shop. You have used more brains than money. Some sharp ideas . I just happen to be using a couple old tables from the Legion that are 30 by 96 too. Great work. Thanks
That is some miter saw station! You could have charged us for watching this. Full on hints and ideas! I guess my station will have something similar coming up!
My humblest thanks go your way!
+atteljas thanks man, I'm glad you found it useful. I appreciate the awesome comment
that is a cool idea with the false drawer front. whole project came out great.
+Miter Mike's Woodshop thanks Mike
the contrast with the door fronts makes a real difference and they look very smart, I also like the false draw over the blast gate, this would not look out of place in a high end kitchen design.
+John Fithian-Franks Thank you John
You have done an amazing job, Moy. I'm in the process of making a miter saw station as well. I have looked at most of the miter saw stations on youtube, not all of them, but a lot. And I like yours the best, yours is just what I was mulling over in my mind.
I'm going over to Nick's site and check out the drawer slides.
Again great job, if you don't mind I will use your way of doing my miter station.
Thanks
mark
+Mark Burgess That's great Mark, of course you can build your this way. In fact I'm kind of humbled and I would love to see pictures when you get around to it
great job my friend it's turning out very nice. great use of those work desks.
+Opa's Workshop Thanks Opa

+Jim W. Thanks Jim, I appreciate the kind words. It's funny you mentioned how my shop has evolved, I was just thinking about my old shop set up before the complete teardown. I still have a lot of work to do but it's come a long way
Yes it has. I just moved so my work is ahead of me rebuilding mine.
Jim W. nice! I had the luxury of taking my time. I learned a lot from my first set up, mainly what didn't work. ha ha . I'm enjoying it a lot more this time. alot of work ahead of you but enjoy Jim and have a good one
Well, this is turning out extremely well, especially for keeping the budget down so tightly. Well done!

Nice looking build.
So much tear out with that harbor freight pocket hole jig. You should upgrade to the kreg jig since it sits flush with the wood.

Been waiting for this. Very professional! Nice work! I really like the tops. Has me thinking now.

Hi Moy , good work. A couple of questions. Why no back on the cabinets and how far is the offset from the wall to accommodate the DC piping?
Hey Tim, I didn't put a back on the cabinets just in case I needed to mess with the dust collection pipe. The offset is about 6 inches
That is a fantastic build, you have certainly maximized drawer space! I'm curious, what are you storing in the toe kick drawers? I have thought about doing this myself, but couldn't think of a reason for this storage. Thanks again for sharing this.
+Dave Pruitt Thanks dave, I am a father of six and wanted to give each one of my kids their own drawer. I collected some cheap tools and now they each have their own basic tool kit drawer.
Moy perez woodshop That's the best thing I have heard all day. Awesome.
Great job, Moy! I'm about to embark on my own miter saw station build, and got a lot of good ideas from your videos. In particular, I've been trying to figure out a simple way to do remote operated blast gates, and your method might work for me. Also the drawers in the toe kick area are a great use of otherwise wasted space. What do you plan to store in them? How deep are they? Keep up the great work. Looking forward to your next video.
+Gary Swartzleonard thanks Gary, the toe kick drawers are about 20 inches deep. I used those drawer for my kids. each one of them have their own tools kit drawer.
Very nice work! I'll bet your proud of it (I would be)! That's a lot of storage space. Hope the back of those deep drawers don't end up hiding things (like drawer pulls given years ago - haha). What do you plan on putting in those drawer kick drawers? I'm thinking flat jigs?
+MRrwmac Thank you, There are six toe kick drawers and since I'm a father of six I gave each one of my kids their own drawer. I outfitted each drawer with basic tools for them
Moy perez woodshop That's extra special use of those drawers then !!!!
I just found you channel Moy....where have you been hiding man? hehe. Great miter station!
I love this miter station project, and plan on replicating this at home. Are all the cabinets 3/4 birch plywood, 24" deep, with 1/2" birch plywood drawers? Second, how high did you make the base cabinets? The woodwork, camera work and verbal presentation are to be commended. Thank you very much! PS, looks like I need to buy one of the angle screw jigs, they are invaluable.
+Alan Pinho Thanks Alan, glad you like it. I made several videos regarding this build along with a written instructable with a little more detail and dimensions. Check the video description for a link to my written instructable. Here is a link to the playlist for all three videos PL2_7ByIPE1kwSQWZK_e6VpZoTzN9NaePw
Elegant
Killer!
+Michael Lawing Thanks Michael!
Very nice. Good work. Quit wearing sandals in the shop.
+aa aa thank you and yes I agree there is no excuse but I try to reason with myself and say well I'm only installing a couple of drawer pulls this afternoon. But Anything can happen in the shop .
How much do you have invested in this station?
+Chase Rivera I don't have enough exact number since I build it in stages. I also used some material that were given to me. The two major expenses were the drawers slides : approximately $250 and the plywood : about $200
Where is part 3?
+KeithBNimble I'm working on the edit for part three
