It is the story of a poverty-stricken village woman named Radha (Nargis), who in the absence of her husband, struggles to raise her sons and survive against a cunning money-lender amidst many troubles. और पहले घर परिवार में कितनी बड़ी बड़ी कहा सुनी हो जाती थी लेकिन फिर भी लोग एक दूसरे का बुरा नहीं सोचते थे और बड़ों का सम्मान करते और आज जरा सी बातों पर रिश्ते टूट जाते हैं....
लोग एक दूसरे को ऐसे भूल जाते हैं कि जैसे एक दूसरे को कभी जाने ही ना हो

Master peace , I have see n this movie 15 times still I am hypnotised by this movie, director Mr. Mehboob khan poured all his mights for making this film. I don't think any body will be able to make such film in future. Another master piece made by Mehboob Khan sir is Mughle-A-Azam. Hats off to his creativity

Watching this movie in 2023 almost 70 years have gone by since this movie had been released .It makes me want to go into the past and live that kind of life soo badly. Soo many things have changed in these past 66 yrs the ppl in the past were more loyal had more respect and more importantly ppl were honest had ethics and morals. Loved this masterpiece ❤❤
