I hear you. I lived in Houston/Austin the first 24 years of my life. Then I moved to NYC for a few years, and was fortunate enough to get opportunities to relocated to Singapore and Korea for about 10 years. My brain got rewired for the cities, I walked everywhere, every weekend there was something to explore. Now I’m back in Texas for the last 5 years, and while Austin is certainly a cool town, I miss the exploration of a new and big city.
So Happy for you and John!! I have followed you since I retired in 2016. Watching your videos, I have learned so much, but most of all, to you is this. Keep doing what you and John need to do. Trust at my age, some days I wish I was doing what you are doing at that age! I worked Like hell for 40 years in one job and one employer and was a workaholic while doing it. HAve lived that life, and watching you live yours, there are parts I would have traded it for. You are a bright, funny, and very relatable young woman with a lot of life to live. Now grab your hubby and get with it !! Look forward to the new content you will create. Just purchased the new MacBook Air 15 inch should be here on Tuesday. Looking forward to cracking it open. It takes courage to admit when you don't fit in somewhere and be willing to take a chance to look around until you find the place that you call home. I give you props for doing what you feel is right for you. Too many people are not willing to take those chances. Fortune favors the bold!
While that’s true they might been able move to greater Austin for similar creative environment.
Having moved across country 3 times in my life I can empathize with you. Every time it happens you get more stuff and even though you purge stuff it never gets easier. Congrats on the move.
I feel like it was yesterday when I watched the videos of you moving into your place in Texas!
Two things:
1. The way that Sara looks at John while he’s talking is so cute and wholesome, it legit reminds me of how my wifey will often look at me in that context 🥰🥰🥰

Also also: Sara, your content is a reason why I got to a point where I stopped thinking of myself as a nerd and began embracing my knowledge, embrace, and intrigue with Tech not only as an aesthetic and a genre, but also as a lifestyle as it continues to evolve and change. I’ve been into Tech since I was 11 years old. I found more intrigue with disassembling things than playing with them, and that passion still burns well into adulthood. You, iJustine, and Marques really have influenced and motivated me for the better, and I couldn’t be more grateful.
21hr roadtrip from Texas to La. Very kind of your mom to join and support i am sure wasnt easy for her to see you two moving away when LA is much more expensive and crowded but as you said "friends" are there so it makes sense. California and the Coast is awesome i know the area and drove LA LAs Vegas and down the coast already :).
21 to 22 hours, depending on the vehicle, bathroom stops, and the weight of one's right foot. 😅
I’m from California and love love love spending my first 38 years there. It has its drawbacks like any place does but it also has so many wonderful things about the lifestyle as well. I hope you both settle in well and have a good time no matter how long you choose to stay.

Appreciate the honesty in your vids about moving. We moved back "home" right before covid, and realized it just wasn't for us and felt like it wasn't the right fit. Moved to our small college town that has ended up being perfect for us.

the longer you live and more things you collect, the harder it gets to move. so, the latest moves are most important. being a youtuber makes you think it's easy to move because you work remotely but actually, it's difficult because of the amount of stuffs you'll have for making videos such as camera boxes. most of the tech companies are in california, so it makes sense.

It's good to move around when you're young. Give you a better perspective on different lifestyles. Where you want to crash later in life. I went to NYC for a few years only to realize it's not me. South of LA like Orange County is nice. Had an office out there once. Enjoy The Move!

Welcome to beautiful California! There are some issues here as with everywhere, but it's definitely vastly better than the picture painted by many in the media.
You got out of one hell hole(New York). Being close to family is invaluable. When you really need people you trust(family) it’s great. Texas between property values and up in coming areas I hear is great. Now your going back to another disaster of a city. Between the economics, politics, unrest, crime, outrageous home/rent values. Yeah I don’t get it

Me and my fiancé are currently (basically for the last 2 years) looking for a new place going in on our 5th time moving. Everything is overpriced or it doesn't fit our lives. So I think it is very normal to struggle with stuff like this. When it is right for you guys, then don't let anyones negativity get to you. Wishing you just the best in your new home! ✌

I just left LA after my entire life of 40+ years... on my way to Texas, LOL! I miss the beach, desert, and mountains all within a very short drive. I don't miss the traffic (measures in minutes, not miles). But LA is home. I left because of the cost of living. I think you'll love LA, there's so much food, culture, tech, and life to do there. Congrats on the Sleep Number. Been using one for 13 years now (on my 2nd one, they last about 10 years) they are the best.

I grew up in LA and have lived most of my life in California. I'd say that LA and San Francisco are the worst California cities to live in. San Diego is hands down the best city in California. If it wasn't for SD, I never would have come back to Cali. Just do us Sandiagans a favor. When you describe your LA experience, be clear that it's an LA experience not a California experience. LA is a vastly different place than the rest of California. LA is completely different from lake Tahoe, San Diego, Central valley, etc. I see a lot of UA-camrs describing LA as a good representation of the rest of California. It would be like describing the entirety of France to being like Paris. Great videos you're putting out, keep up the good work, be safe and good luck.

I moved to LV a year ago from LA, took me 1 year to pack everything!! then with my son in 2 cars we drove across the desert. I had my 3 dogs in the car with me and thankfully they were more relaxed then I was for 3hrs lol.
hahaha my mom tried to do the same when I moved from Vancouver to Toronto and was going to drive across the continent in 3 days. It wasn't practical though so I she had to settle for a real time GPS tracker of my vehicle's position at any given moment. Cheers to amazing loving moms!
I'm like you, I have a ton of really amazing friends in LA but I don't think I could ever move there. The heat is just too much for my polar Canadian-ness. ;) Best of luck in your new home though! I'm sure you will have a blast. One thing that always amazes me about LA is the culture and spirit of creativity there. It seems everyone you meet is pursuing some sort of creative passion and has a strong entrepreneurial driving force. Way more so than any other city I've ever been in.
Also so funny, I have a GoPro Hero 10 and the first thing I did was disable the front display because GoPro battery life is so weak. (That said I don't use it to vlog so prob a lot less of an issue for me)

It also takes experimenting to know where you want to live, and you won't know how living somewhere is without trying it. It might seem weird to move so often, but I find it weirder that people never move outside of their home turf.
I find it humorous that someone has to "apologize" for moving to California . . . I survived the LA riots of the early 90s, and continue to live in Los Angeles, so I am "fascinated" with how social media has portrayed modern LA as some sort of "hellscape" (I would say, check out some looting videos from 90s LA . . . today is "mild" in comparison) . . . For those wondering, there was an exodus of million dollar UA-camrs from California a few years back because of a 13% income tax (not because of homeless people) -- that's why many moved to Nevada and Texas (no income tax . . . although Texas will nail you on property tax) . . . By the way, "everyone else" (Non-wealthy UA-camrs) we're still here. Life goes on . . . A few years from now, the next generation will proclaim how great California is, and then 10 years later there will be a "mass migration" -- it's a cycle -- history repeats itself . . . forge your own path.
