In this video we're snowboarding in Cardrona New Zealand and testing out the Oakley Line Miner goggles versus the Anon M4's. On the mountain today the conditions are white out which is perfect to test Oakleys Prizm Rose lens to Anon's Blue Lagoon lens. Both the Oakley and Anon goggles are cylindrical and have a larger fit with wide peripheral view. Over the past year I've been able to wear both Oakley and Anon goggles for snowboarding. I have the Prizm Rose lens in my Oakley Flightdeck XM and they are great for whiteout conditions cuz they boost the contrast in the snow a ton! They are also tough as nails as I found out when I face-planted a tube last season and they came away without a scratch! My face didn't fare quite so well and I had the mother of all shiners the rest of the trip :D
Correction on the name of the Anon lens is Sonar Blue and not Blue Lagoon.
You should give a try to the Sonar Infrared lens :D

I have tried both Anon and Oakley but my favorite low light lens by far is the Smith Chromapop Storm Rose in my IO Mags. The great thing about smith lenses is the antifog is built into the lens that won't wipe off easily like other brands and they use trivex lens material for better optical clarity over polycarbonate in the Anon and Oakleys. Chromapop is the real deal with the added contrast that helps you pick up bumps in the terrain even in low light. The storm lens work great in really socked in low light conditions but still can work when it is cloudy with decent light too. I had that lens in my googles a fair amount last season in Colorado when it was dumping snow (especially in February) and they were awesome.

That lens on the M4 should be the Sonar Blue VLT% 46. And it should not be compared to the Prizm Rose VLT%23 IMO. The Visible Light Transmission is so different between the two. Maybe fairer to compare the Sonar Green to the Prizm Rose.
I agreed with Shawn for sure the fit on M4 is like the best ! But lens still can’t beat Oakley Prizm hands down !

Oakley has Flight Decks which have great field of view and the nose probably would fit your friend better , Im interested in an Oakley vs Smith Chromapop storm lense comparison
I have to say that Oakley Prizm lenses are superb.
Two other Prizm lenses that would be better in those conditions are the High Pink and Persimmon

The Sonar Blue lens that comes with the M4 setup (depending on the model you get) has a decent VLT rating but there are separate lenses out there you can get that will be a better comparison with the Prizm Rose. I think you should get the Infared or Sonar Night lense and do another comparison (the infared lens has a VLT of 57% and night is in the 80s). The Sonar Blue is only around 39% VLT which is good for an overcast day to slightly white out. You would want one of the other ones with a higher VLT rating for that type of day. I did a lot of research into the lenses when i bought a pair last year and even had mine replaced last month under warranty (defective frames). The infared blue lense is a great all around low light lens though.

Did you buy the Sonar Infrared lens? if so, what do you think of its performance in flat light and whiteout conditions?
I used to have anon wm1’s and I tried every low light lens they did. I couldn’t see diddly squat in bad weather. Switched to Oakley flight deck with prizm rose and the contrast is so much better - game changer. I will try hi pink prizm next year too, just to make sure I’m not missing out 😂
How are the Flight Decks? Any problems with fogging up? I am about to pull the trigger on them after lots of research. I read some reviews about fogging up, but i feel like it may have been user error.

Try the storm series from Smith
Everyone has different eyes and light sensitivity. I have Flight Decks and usually go w/ Rose or VR50 Pink (37% VLT) for storm days. I might have light sensitive eyes, so historically Hi Yellow doesn't work for me. Too much light gets in and it's like i'm seeing stars. So the Pink Prizm doesn't work for me either. I can't seem to find Flight deck lenses in HI Persimmon or I'd snag some.
People with blue eyes tend to be more light sensitive.
It might just be my hype for this season to start and I've been checking out Oakley gear for new goggles or lens replacements but they seem to be really behind every other manufacturer this year. My local shop hasn't recieved anything from Oakley yet and their website is bare for replacement lenses. I was looking to get hi pinks or persimmon prizms but can't find them for the flight decks unless I buy a whole new setup which I don't want to do.

Hi Kevin, try the sonar infrared lens. Its the closest to prizm rose. I am getting that for my anon m2 goggles for upcoming japan trip. I also have the sonar night.

I had the smith squad xl on with a rose low light lens in that day can see me in the background at 2:56 and they where mint for the conditions.
You should be testing Anon infrared as a comparable lens to prism rose. Anon also has a rose lens

Why are you using old lens in your new M4 ? You shold be using a Sonar lens

I have a pair of Anon Sync and I absolutely hate the "ghosting" when you look into a light source and it branches out as 7 different light sources. Tried out M4 as well, same problem. Borrowed my friend's Oakley Flight Deck for a day and love it a lot: it's perfect optically, contrasting boosting and everything. Although I really like Anon's MFI, I am going to ditch Anon this year and go with Oakley.
Cant use anything else then anon MFI is just too good.

I don't think anyone has better optics than Oakley but they dont always have the best fit

Hi Kevin, when you bought the yellow lenses for your Anon M4’s how did you find them? Would you say they we as good as the Oakley LM’s?
I’ve tested all these goggles, and I think these guys made the mistake of using an anon lens 2 generations old. The new perceive lenses blow Oakleys lenses out of the water IMO.

The best low light lense is yellow. It just brightens up everything.
I'd call it low visibility. When I seen low light in the title I was thinking dusk/dawn or night.
I find just wearing clear lenses are better when it’s low light

I've had the opposite experience. I've had my Anon M2 for 3 seasons now and zero scratches. I've crashed many times, taken branches directly to the lens in the trees many times. I just wash the lens with a bit of dawn dish soap and the scuff marks disappear.
