Just bought the same goggles like 2 weeks ago, in another video they mentioned that snow prizm torch will fit most weathers, like 80% of them. 👍

That's a great pick! Torch is one of my favorite lenses. It's in Oakley's sun/clouds category, so it will definitely get you through most conditions. I hope you're digging them!

Thanks for the video! Sport RX always has the most informative contents. I don't think you guys touched much on the practical use of color, in this one. So after learning a lot about the reflective finish, VLT, polarized lenses, etc, how does the actual color affect things beyond personal preferences? Because correct me if I'm wrong, finishes, VLT, etc can be applied on any color, and the actual colors such as bronze or rose is a totally separate thing right? Are different colors designed for different conditions? Or are they purely for style and personal viewing preference?

Hello David! It's a bit of both. A base tint is the underlying color for any snow goggle lens. They are usually some combination or variation of Rose, Bronze, or Grey. Tint Intensity refers to how dark a tint is, as well as how much light it's preventing from passing through the lens material. The mirror intensity and color play a role as well. The combination of the mirror color/intensity and the base tint is what makes a goggle lens stand out among others. For example, a grey base tint combined with a solid silver mirror will likely have a very low VLT rating making it a great option for very bright bluebird days. The grey base will keep colors in your field of view neutral and true to tone. Compare that with a rose base tint with a flash green mirror, and your going to achieve a higher VLT rating with more color enhancement and contrast for cloudy overcast days where it's harder to distinguish details in the terrain ahead. So while there are certain color pairings and intensities that align with specific lighting conditions, personal preference still plays a role as some people might prefer the unique outlook of a rose tint vs. a bronze base tint, even though they might have similar VLT ratings and were designed for the same conditions.

    Hi guys
I’m a huge fan of your channel and all the great videos you guys make. But winter is coming and I’m waiting on a video on the new Anon M5 goggle 😊

We hear ya! More vids to come. In the meantime, the M5 fits a tad smaller than the M4 but with all of the same top-shelf chassis and lens tech. The main difference is in the lens design that boasts a rimless look at the top and sides in addition to a deeper lens shape at the temples. The Flat Toric design is arguably the best feature as it delivers uncompromising clarity and range of view with zero distortion similar to a spherical lens shape but without the added volume and curvature protruding from the front of the goggle. Def worth a try-on!

Thanks for the information! I am looking to buy a pair of Oakley Target Line Snow Goggles and only have to get a single lens that can handle most weather types. My actual question: do you think Prizm Snow Rose can handle the bright days fine enough? Again, thank you for the amazing videos!

    One word: photochromic.
Even with the new dye tech formulas for single cat lenses, nothing has ever beat Julbo (and other well-done reactive lense makers, but Julbo has been doing this for way over a decade) photochromics with a good rose-to-amber base tint. Everything else is never quite right and too switchy-fiddly. (And sorry, but Smith's only photochromic red is just not as good.)

Great vid, im currently trying to figure out if I should go for a visor helmet or just upgrade my current helmet and keep the Smith chromapops.

Hard to pass up on that Chromapop lens tech! The one downside we find with the integrated visor helmets is the lack of options when it comes to choosing or swapping out the lenses as lighting conditions change. Smith goggles are compatible with most helmets and offer a wide variety of lens tints for every type of weather condition on the mountain.

Can we get an m4 vs io mag video? I can’t seem to find any comparisons on UA-cam. Also maybe explain the differences between a 300 dollar pair and a 150 dollar pair.
