I loved this movie as a kid. I watched it soooo many times. Still holds up too. The soundtrack was dope af as well. I still quote a lot of the things the gangsters say in the movie to this day.
As an Austrian, I've always found this ...odd. I mean crows , black cats, the whole shenanigans - we had in Europe for a good amount of fun times in the middle ages.
@@grapeshot mine too - to a degree, but not so much as when I was a teen, because it fades so easily and with my OCD and Psoriasis every skin cell is showing though I shake out everything I wore once on the inside outside, and I need to wash often but on the other hand try to save water / electricity and money HARD...I got one of my bills from 177 € every 2 months to 26 (!)€ every 2 months since Covid. Tear up every time I get to the end of this film, where his love comes to take him back to the hereafter. On the surface it's a gothic revenge flick with a contemporary metal soundtrack, but it's steeped in tragedy and romanticism which is what has kept it popular for all these years.
Chad Stahelski was the body double for Lee in the Crow, also Keanu's body double in The Matrix. Pretty sure Brandon Lee would have been given a big role in the John Wick franchise if he was alive today.
Man. Both the score and soundtrack to this movie were just superb. I still listen to them often. And to this day I still utter Skank's, "What's this happy horse-shit?" at appropriate moments.
I always love your reviews, but I particularly enjoy when you cover my favourite movies, so cool to hear your take. Hope you and Queen Bee are doing well 🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝
The movie The Crow is amazing on so many levels. I just focus on Brandon Lee and his magical performance, it was Oscar worth IMHO. He was perfect Joker before Heath Ledger. Both of them left too early, RIP
Another amazing review! I’ve taken time off the internet for my mental health, but I’ve stayed subscribed to you because you always make me feel better. Thank you for beeing you! ♥️ 🐝
I just gotta say, found your channel like 3 days ago, and have been binge watching ever since. Movies I have never heard about, movies I know about but haven’t watched, movies I have watched. I love your reviews. Very funny. Keep getting chuckles out of me. Thank you.
These are my new favorite video drops every week. I'm old as Pong so the Mystery Science Theater 3000 shtick connect's with all of those summer nights watching those old movies and learning to love them. I wish I had two extra hands so I could give you 4 thumbs up.
Sweetheart, The Crow: Wicked Prayer if you want to see David Boreanz having more fun than he should be and Eddie Furlong being bad ass. IDGAF what people say, Eddie did his research and delivered more than he should tbf.
I love The Crow! "It can't rain all the time." Tragic to lose Brandon Lee though. The sequel is nowhere near as good, but not awful. It's interesting to see the little girl grown up.
The sequel was chopped up and changed around a lot. There was loads of studio interference. There was apparently a different backstory for the main character, originally and Iggy Pop was supposed to have a bigger part (that wasn't intended as a pun) I can't imagine it would have been as good as the original movie but it probably would have been better than what we got.
Brandon Lee was shot in the abdomen with partial bullet fragments and debris from a .44mag prop gun . He died six hours later while in emergency surgery from a severe arterial hemorrhage. This tragedy was the reason the professional, had trained actress Natalie Portman how to assemble and load real ammunition and firearms for the film.
Btw I own the DVD I find it hard to watch because I admired Brandon before The Crow. I loved him in Showdown in Little Tokyo. Cocky as hell loved it. Like Corey Haim, Brandon had IT. The IT factor. I have my own theories but damn he was amazing.
I didn't watch thie movie yet because it is very dark and the death of the actor certainly didn't help, but after this review it is definitely time to watch it. Great review Bee Man, you're movie reviews rock .
It really is SO dang good, but like you said, every time I watch I just marvel at how cool Brandon Lee is and saddened by what could've been... Oh, and the cutaway EEEEMOTIONAL DAAAMAGE had me DEAD 🤣🤣I've seen all your vids, but like revisiting, and I did NOT remember that!
Not so fun fact, the Funboy scene was the scene where Lee got fatally shot. They did Multiple takes of it, and the last one had a live round on the gun.
Nice review. My favorite movie (shocker) for 30 years, next year. No movie has even came CLOSE. Did you know that the guy looting with the long blond hair is Jame O'Barr, the creator of the graphic novel? One thing you failed to mention, or maybe you didn't know. Brandon Lee was less than a month away from his own wedding to his fiancée, Eliza. They were going to go to Mexico to get married as soon as the filming of The Crow was done. Such a tragedy! He had so much talent, and I'll say this and you can fight me on it if you'd like! No disrespect meant to Keanu, but dammit, Neo should have been played by Brandon Lee...it gets me so angry that somebody didn't check the prop gun, um, properly and the tip of the fake bullet got left in it and acted like a real bullet!
I actually didn't know about the death of Brandon Lee when I first saw the movie, but the dark atmosphere really was there nonetheless. Hearing about it later of course made it even more tragic.
This was my favorite movie as a teenager! Too bad all the sequels suck. Seriously, why is everything yellow in part 2? Did someone pee all over the negatives during post-production?
NO NO NO NO seriously The Crow: Wicked Prayer A and B grade actors having way too much fun. Dennis Hopper cheesy as hell. Tara Reid well she's Tara Reid in EVERY movie lol. Eddie to give him credit did his damn research and delivered. It's cheesy and if you go into it knowing that, it's cheesy fun.
You should’ve mentioned the soundtrack, it was a pretty big compilation release in the genre when it came out, just as popular as the movie, it charted at number 1 on the Bullboard..
This was a very good review of an excellent movie, that tragically paralled life, as Brandon Lee was also engaged to be married shortly after the film was completed. The second one, was an okay direct sequel that dealt with the Sarah character when she is a bit more grown, and it deals with the holiday of the day of the dead. It's a worthwhile sequel since The Crow being a series of graphic novels by James O Barr, dealt with the Crow seeking Vengeance at various times and places. So I would personally at least check out the sequel City of Angels.
Btw thank you, though I have literally NO money at all and getting through all the beoucracy is so way too much, this is a movie that I haven't in my collection yet, like so many other classics I missed and only discovered because of a bee, because my Ex trained me only on music/ films he liked. I am thankful because I was very limited before, but didn't realise he didn't REALLY open the World up , *only* to the styles / art that had his approvel.
This is one of my favorite movies EVER. One of only a handful of movies I saw more than once in a theater. A masterpiece of love and sorrow in so many ways.
Rumor has it Brandon Lee died in that scene with multiple guns shooting at his character in that long table scene. Some believe to this day that it was not an accident but a hit job by the Chinese Mob.
It's no surprise that the antagonists are all cartoon like and chaotic. Characters from comics aren't always given the time and space to be explored beyond their basic motivations, in the film The Crow the gang members are shallow thugs that live beyond mortal laws, the comic was a bit deeper. The original comic The Crow was created from a real life tragedy that James O'Barr experienced. The characters are representations of the difference stages of grief, the resulting emotional roller coaster, and the catharsis that vengeance might bring. The film tries to cover this a bit, but misses the mark for pacing purposes, most likely. I bet there was a lot of footage dropped or scenes that didn't get shot because of the added cost of finishing the project after the tragic loss of Brandon. Overall, I really like this movie. I saw it in the theater, bought it on VHS, and watched it many times as a teen and young adult.
Look Tom I don't wanna pry into your personal life so I'm simply just not gonna ask how you found out that people aren't buried with their shoes on, okay? 😁

I think that the double they used for Brandon was pretty good because the first time I watched it I didn’t even notice the change. rip Brandon Lee
Rip Bradon Lee 🥀
Its sad we didn't get to see more from him!
The son of Bruce Lee i must say this movie is 1 of my favorite I love this movie!
