- This freestyle was shot right after Mac Dre was released from prison in 1996. We were at the Gavin convention in oakland Ca. Henry J Kaiser. Rick Camacho is the interviewer and was runnin the streets in Sacramento at the time of the interview. I still have my laminate from this event. What some people today may not know is that the Bay Area has always had a great Hip-Hop scene. A few years prior to this there was another Gavin convention in the city that was dope too; not to mention all the Summer Jams...
I'm not as old as that, but I rember around 06 when tell me when to go blew, people acting like e40 was the first bay area rapper ever. I had to put so many people up on game. It seems like the bay area was always more talented than it gets credit for. I don't understand how that is though. We've had some of the best artists in the rap game since early 90s at least.
