I’m still waiting for a game that uses proper spatial audio. Here’s hoping, now that real-time ray-tracing has been realised, we get real-time wave tracing for a completely immersive audio engine.
One of the best ever fact and the switch version is better used more ram than wius sound score..,eternal darkness gamecube also a masterpiece re2 remake atmos is amazing
You picked my top two as well! I was blown away at Modern Warfare and picked up the Uncharted Series via the free download from Playstation so I'm now playing through the series. I'm on Uncharted 2 now. Sound is fantastic! It's awesome to play on a big screen, have HUGE sound to match and be able to accurately pinpoint someone's exact location through the ground level speakers. Keep up the great work
Great content . Finally someone is serious about the sound. Developers are so into picture quality , resolution, color and so on but majority of them don't care about sound that much. I think the sound is as important as quality of picture . GTA 4, Resident evil 2 remake , The last of US. Those games would never earn all that love and respect without that super quality surround sound.
Re2 remake atmos I agree I add eternal darkness gamecube and breath of rhe wild switch whitch had a massively upgraded sound score to wiiu I played re2 remake on Y yesterday I finished it and cia a sonos beam gen 2 2 rears and a sub listened via dolby atmos pc..it is indeed great.., eternal darkness gamecube was a great sounding ha,e and deliverx in pro logic 2 and breath of the wild is pcm 5.1. As I have atmos at home and a brand new pc with atmos app il sort uprising games to atmos
I think you didn't play Alien: Isolation. :) It is top on my list. I haven't played The Last of Us or Uncharted, because I don't have a PS, these are the only games that could compete with Isolation's audio perfection.
Hands down the best game I have ever heard has to be Gears of War 4 and 5, both with Dolby Atmos . GoW5 especially has incredible audio and HDR, and is a real treat to experience. I will actually just say that Gears of War 5 has the best HDR and Atmos implementation I have ever seen and heard - its one of a kind right now. Dead Space has absolutely crazy good audio, the remake is no different. Atmospheric, moody, and terrifying from start to end. Doom3 BFG sounds surprisingly good considering its age , does a really good job of putting you in that bubble, especially with upmixing. Lots of noises around the complex really come through and just keep you on edge. Shadow of the Tomb Raider has an excellent Atmos mix - the whole game takes place in the jungle with tons of ambient animal sounds and inside of tombs with water dripping and the like.
good someone make a movie like that. I played resident evil 7 is good quality too, expecially sneaking time. I heard resident 2 remake is good too. I can recommend online games like battlefront from EA.
I was just playing Bioshock remastered and was like "Hmmm the audio in this game is actually insane. I wonder what other games have crazy audio." I come here first thing and its the number one game you put! XD I guess my instincts were correct.
“Now would you kindly pick up a crowbar or something?” I’m currently playing Bioshock Remastered again and it definitely holds up very well. AutoHDR on the XBOX Series X kind of elevates it as well in my opinion.
Unfortunately until we start seeing more than a handful of games that support it, most people won't talk about it. But it can literally be a game changer if you ask me. No pun intended.
Hi, I was very impressed by the Mass effect series, Soul reaver 2 and Battle Squadron (Genesis). Mobile phone wise, Sky force had amazing sounds and voice acting.
to bad i ended this game before i brought my 5.1 speaker, now i dont have a reason to play this second time. But sound of big daddy steps must do nice effect
I mean, I did say it wasn't a "definitive list by any means." Though I wouldn't include Diablo II in any recent list of best sounding games. It's sound design is definitely dated and lacks much in the way of dynamics.
I am actually here after replaying bioshock on home theater system and wondering what else is better. Thanks for the vid but for me bioshock is much better than even last of us...
Thank you for this list! In fact, Control's Hiss Sound was so effective that it made me uncomfortable sometimes. Great ambience! Looking forward for a part 2, one day! 😘
Thanks! For video games it’s usually not an issue unless there is licensed music. It’s honestly something I did consider for this video but at the time, I had no way of capturing high quality game footage.
Have you ever thought there’s a reason for that? Most big budget AAA titles have a huge sound design/mixing team behind them, indies typically have a very small team. Nothing lame about it, just the sad reality of how things are.
@@metasequoia3097 well, I did say this is a subjective list and not a definitive list. And I opened up with “my top 10 best sounding games of all time,” not “the best sounding games period. End of discussion.” There’s a big difference there. I’m sure Elite Dangerous sounds great, but I’ve never played it so I couldn’t have very well put it on this list, could I?
I've only played a few games in the last ten years. But I just started playing Crysis all over, for the first time in many years. I have the same speakers as back then - a mediocre 5.1 system from Altec Lancing. But after EQ'ing these speakers with REW and a UMIK-1, the sound is impressive!

probably next generation playstation tbh, they're running out areas to over the top enhance lol
Sounds like the new dead space remake is heading in that direction
@@TheAnarchy117 dead space is getting a remake? That’s best gaming news I’ve heard in a while
@@bunnythekid yeah mate I would recommand you to check on their official audio making off!
Ray traced spatial audio has been developed for a few years now because it’s very important for VR, look up Steam Audio

breath of the wild should definitely be on this list

Dead Space should be on that list. That game beats out most of the ones you mentioned when it comes to audio.
aaand.. the remastered version is coming, they said on the clips that they gon make the sound outstanding

The doomly Necromorph-infested Ishimura must be among the scariest settings in video game history!
Thank you bioshock sounds amazing
The Witcher 3 and Legends of Zelda BOTW are my favorite games with perfect sound design
Witcher 3 is so soothing and chill when riding Roach through the fields.

Eternal darkness gamecube pro logic 2,,,, re2 remake atmos..breath of the wild switch pcm 5.1
I can add Titanfall 2 and Unreal Tournament 2004 with the Super X-Fi patch to the list!
I cannot believe Dead Space wasn't in here somewhere. Very disappointing.
No jokes, world of warships needs more respect on their sound design
Great video! Could we get a 2nd list? Subscribed
Back in the PS3 days I also loved the sound and bass from the Infamous games.
Got my like by calling your list subjective
My neighbors hear the explosions from MW
What about rollercoaster tycoon 1 and rimworld and minecraft you are only reviewing open world Games.
Only reviewing open world games? Only 4 games mentioned in the video are open world games.
Battlefield V is a terrible pick. It doesn't even use the center channel
Even though it sucks, not using the center channel is not a metric I use to determine if a game sounds good or not.
Manhunt 2 also has extremely brutal sound, the executions sound surreal and terrifying... but good
How are you playing Manhunt 2? Or do you mean back in the day?
@@zanfear I still have the digital copy for my PC, so that’s how

Lol no diablo 2 or Lord of the rings: return of the King, which actually won Awards for Sound effects.

Dayz definitely, and i guess arma 3 share the same sound engine
for me no 1- is the medal of honour- warfighter

By the way, have you checked out Ghost of Tsushima?

All triple A titles. FPS or Third Person. This is kinda lame and there are way more games out there.
