Would you be able to create pre-sets for Lightroom? I just checked, and I only see a BW infrared preset. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. I just purchased your book in the past 2 weeks. I am really enjoying learning about IF photography.
I currently have the Lightroom IR Color Swap profiles, which can be used for swapping colors directly in LR. 590.red/lr-ir-color-swap I'm working on an update to add more profiles with additional color swap styles. As a part of this, I will explore adding LR presets as well.
Yes, I'd like IR presets for Lightroom Classic, as many other people have requested. Specifically, I would like to be able to get the blooming highlights that I could get with Kodak HIE because of its lack of an anti-halation layer in the film. It seems that the local contrast presets in the ON1 IR preset package are playing in the same sandbox. But I don't know if any ot them are focused closely on highlights, and I don't much want to leave the familiar Lightroom to work with ON1 as a new program (although I know it also has some other advantages for IR).
Hello, I am completely new to this and that caught my interest lately. I have two questions, can I use a normal photo shot with colors and edit it like it was on IR film? And 2. do you have a tutorial, video for completely beginners with background information and all that to intro people into this field of photography? Thanks man! Best wishes for the new year! David
Here is a brief introduction: ua-cam.com/video/8k_vOSs8-lc/v-deo.html Here is a complete walkthrough for beginners: ua-cam.com/video/8k_vOSs8-lc/v-deo.html Here is a longer live stream with more details: ua-cam.com/users/livezRepZTCqEWE You could emulate the look of IR using the Channel Mixer in Photoshop.
@@robshea hey sir! Thank you - I appreciate your links and insight! I am working with ON1 for now (since adobe screwed with the subscription only route, i left my beloved LR). Since you made the presets for On1 I assume one can achieve this with On1 too :-) thanks again, mate!
Thanks man, I started watching your videos. so far I only came across IR editing (by the way really brain stretching concept for conceiving colors haha) of real (modified camera) IR shots. I saw some iPhone apps doing similar results. do you have a video showing how this is working? so no modified camera but only in computer, normal jpg => IR looking results. Thanks in advanced, mate! @@robshea
May I ask a question about black mist filters which are becoming more popular in photography to soften the lighter tones in an image. Can they be used in infrared photography and are they of benefit?
For IR filters between 515 and 720nm, the biggest difference is color saturation. Lower numbered filters have more color saturation, higher numbered filters have less. When using the White (preset in ON1, profile in LR), the filter impacts the color saturation in the sky.
When I take my photo into develop and adjust the custom white balance with the K small, then go to Presets and apply a preset, the preset preview turns turquoise in color. Then when I move my mouse out over the photo image area, it also turns turquoise. What am I doing wrong?
I think this is a bug in ON1, since the temperature slider is switching from non-Kelvin to Kelvin mode when a preset is applied. I have submitted a bug to ON1. Here is the video I shared with them. capture.dropbox.com/gg7mhatWQTofrLCn
I just received your book, absolutely spectacular! 📖
Thank you, always enjoy your videos. Presets for Affinity Photo 2 perhaps?
I will be revising my review of Affinity Photo soon and I will see what is possible.
@@robshea thanks Rob, you are a star!

There is a glow effect in the ON1 Photo RAW Infrared Presets. I look at adding this to version 2 of the LR IR Color Swap Profiles.
I loved the images. Are you giving presets to Lightroom?
I’m considering doing something similar for LR.

@@Bowmans_journey Absolutely. ON1 is a great raw editor, which is why I wanted to support it with presets.

@@Bowmans_journey I'm working on some LUTs that will do this. Coming soon!
How about Lightroom?

Great question! I have not tried this. I'll add it to my list.
@@robshea thank you👍
would it photos taken on a 590nm conversion be more or less flexible to edit? how about the ultra-contrasts white effect?

Do I need to have photoshop or Lightroom to use ON1 photo raw and the ON1 preset softwares?
No need for Lightroom or Photoshop. You just need ON1 Photo RAW.
Will this also work on the mobile, iPad version? Traveling light and using only the iPad mini and printing on the Instax wide format
The ON1 mobile app does not yet support the desktop presets.
@@robshea but the other features are there for me to do some basic layers adjustment? Color swap, white balance, tweaking other IR based elements?
@@a.nevillechamberlain7612 I have not tested all of these features on the mobile version yet.

Thanks sooooo much Rob. Got a good man on the case.
This appears to have been fixed in today's release 2024.1 (v18.1)! 🎉
