The theme song makes my heart smile. I was in 8th grade then when times were much simpler.
Rex Smith started on the ABC prime time action crime drama adventure series "Street Hawk" which was rerunned on WOR(now WWOR)-TV in New York City, New York/ Secaucus, New Jersey and on cable on The USA Network in the 1980's. Rex Smith also co-hosted the syndicated music variety show "Solid Gold" also in the 1980's, hosted an informercial for Time-Life in 1994, and guest started on a episode of the syndicated TV show "Baywatch".
Rex Smith,always charming and AWESOME.
1 of my alltime favorite tv series. I love this version.
I loved this show when I was a kid.
Sometimes I'd go to work with my mom and this eff ould come on at like 11 a.m.
It's a trip

@sharoncurry6071 He was kicked off As the World Turns, I could never find out what he did or what happened.
Debut on ABC Daytime in Mid December 1985.Aired until its ending on 8/1/1986.
The NEW Love American Style was Videotaped at ABC Television Center in HOLLYWOOD which was the home to Family Feud with the late Richard Dawson, Benson with the late Robert Guillaume and of course, Dick Clark's American Bandstand with the late Bandstand KING himself Dick Clark
The late, great,Lou Rawls sings the opening theme of the Show.
"Who says the Chicago Bulls don't have a shot at the NBA title this year?" A punchline in 1985, but just wait a few years. And WVEC being in my hometown, the station ID threw me for a loop.
Sequel to the original Love American Style which aired on ABC Primetime from September 1969 to January 1974.
I Didn't Know Mr. Lou Rawls SANG Da Theme Song 2 Da New Love American Style, But Wasn't Mentioned N Da End Credits!!!
Tyson Anderson yes he was at the end.
Arsenio Hall there at the end as the groom.
Melinda Culea, remember when you were on a top 10 primetime show just a couple of years earlier?
Jared Linden and she was kind of forced out thanks to George Peppard. He was not an easy person to get along with from what I hear. He also didn’t care for Mr. T.
You are talking about the NBC prime time action adventure series "The A-Team".
Oh please, "Glitter" was hardly a top 10 show...
Exselent
It’s ok this version. I liked the original Love American Style (1969-1974) version better
two versions actually. The Cowsills for season one and the Ron Hicklin Singers for seasons two through five.
A-Team Amy !!! Melinda Culea was hot!
If you love Rex Smith singing Theme From The New Love America Style, then you should see him reprise his role as Street Hawk and singing The Ms.Marvel Theme (The Wedding of ABC-TV and Capital Cities edition) in the Season 3 finale of The Ms.Marvel Show: The Marriage of ABC-TV and Capital Cities at the Omni Arena.
Look for Captain Marvel: Guardian Princess December 23rd-26th on ABC-TV.

I was going to give this 2 minutes but it was really very good, as good as the original. I don't like that they shot it on video tape. Really cheap looking. That's probably why it didn't last. Rex Smith is definitely a stage actor; really big gestures. :)
I say thet shot on video tape because it was done at ABC TV studios instead of at Paramount like the original and it being on daytime, they wanted it to look like their soaps. I agree this version is pretty good. I would like to see the whole 1985-86 run of it. They scheduled this against Price Is Right and back then it was a powerhouse with Bob Barker and the original Barker Beauties.
Norman Lear decided to use video (instead of film) in 1971 (?) with All in The Family. That was the start of what later became the norm. Some may say that it was because this show was produced for ABC, rather than Paramount, for the reason why this was recorded on video. There might be something to that but since All In The Family was produced at CBS, I don’t believe that was the main reason. I think the main reason was economic/financial.
Yep - definitely budgetary reasons. Look how cheap the sets are.
They really know how to lay a 💩💩💩💩💩💩on something classic. American muscle cars, Coca-Cola, Scooby Doo, Twilight Zone etc.etc.etc.etc.
This is excruciating!
The original Love American Style was so much better than this!
I like the original version better it's a classic
