There is a HUGE difference between not moving the buckets and not touching the buckets

yeah, I would argue that he still moved the bucket, if he asked someone else to do it. It is similar to how you still hit a target, even if you used an arrow to do it.
And you couldn't move the [other] bucket @Victor Slimak as that is still the bucket. In fact, the way it is phrased, you are more likely to be allowed to move Bucket A, as bucket B was the one mentioned directly before "the bucket". Still, I would argue that both classify as "the bucket", since the one you decide to move becomes the one of special import (and thus what "The bucket" would refer to).
I think I would carry water in the hose like the other guy did (at least I were thinking that is probably the best method), if I did that ice bucket challenge. But I might also have simply gone for soaking clothes in the water and carrying them to the other to wring them out, at least if I got the referee to give me his clothes to do it (The hat wouldnt be [funny] enough. And I have seen that he is expected to take his clothes off if asked, on other tasks).
Taskmaster is the series that makes me feel like a genius for understanding how a siphon actually works
Was it necessary to raise the other bucket? I thought it worked off air pressure...
@@Cygnus888 Once you get it going, you just have to make sure the one end of the hose is higher than the other.
There's another task from earlier in the series where several contestants fail at siphon because they forgot that detail
@@semc1986 You are right. Read a bit and found out, it works off gravity. So the source must be higher than target.

Sarah had the win right in front of her - those boots could have easily been the best method of carrying the water.

This is like the potato throwing task, one of my favourites. Very simple, taskmastery setup, but the joy is in the way Greg handles cheating, unfairness, unforeseen outcomes... Brilliant!
But nothing will beat Joe Wilkinson's foot on the line and his reaction.
It's almost like he had experience dealing with that, like say, a teacher would.
Also how he dealed with James acaster

Its even funnier when you know, from later, that Alex actually has a huge amount of control in the show. Greg is the frontman.
the whole point of the show is alex is the real host and greg is just the figurehead. greg doesn't even know what a lot of the tasks are going to be ahead of time.

Everyone tried taping the colander from the outside... Should have taped it from the inside, and the weight of the water would hold the tape in place.
One of em did tape from the inside, at 6:18. Still leaked. Maybe he wasn't thorough enough, maybe the sellotape got soaked off.
They had a plastic bag. You need to just put the bag into that strainer and fix it with the tape :)
Depends on how big the bag is. It's big enough to tape the bottom, but probably not for the sides. The strainer is bigger than you think.

I would've taken my jacket off and lined it with that if I'm wearing waterproof clothes. Sure it's cold but hecc. Tbh you could use a waterproof coat tied up completely to hold the water

I know this sounds brutal and inhumane, even sadistic, but to get rid of the problem once and for all, I think everyone caught in corruption should be punished by taking off one shoe and sock the rest of the day.

It’s not a bout understanding a siphon, it’s about the 100 feet between the bucket
There's also no height difference between the buckets, meing no gravitational force to act on the water.
@First Last that's not following the rules. You're not allowed to move any of the buckets.
@First Last You are doing actions resulting in the bucket being moved, breaking the rules. The rule is clear on the bucket not being allowed to move from their location, regardless of your way of moving them. It would be like saying wearing gloves means you're not moving it, the gloves are.
@First Last He didn't move the bucket, someone else did, following the rules. Moving the bucket by holding it with a tube is still you moving the bucket.

Tear the bag open, line the inside of the colander, tape it in place, fill it up.

They were actually given enough for a few solutions to move a decent amount per trip.
Although I would’ve run around for a min or so to check out the area for any useful items like a bin bag or something.
How about just labelling the original bucket "Bucket B"? You could use the tape to do it. Seems like they intentionally phrased it that way to me, and should be a lot easier than moving buckets or water.
You made me come up with this idea if you carefully apply the tape on the bucket itself and then carry the bucket and pour it

Technically, Alex didn't move the bucket for Al. He moved it for the money. So he didn't break his promise to Sarah.

They were all filming episodes as the pandemic hit so they are all now quarantined in the same filming studio and to pass the time they just keep making new episodes.

Dave literally had a cup. Why cheat so obviously with coffee. He could've used the cup to move the water
this wouldn't have gotten a forced laugh from the audience.

they say they only figured out by that camera what happened. So I assume after the challenge when they were moving to the next thing he threw in that coffee into the bucket. So after the challenge when there wasn't a full camera team following his every move. Little did he know there was still a go pro running...
He can't have done it before the challenge btw, cause he didn't know what the challenge was.
Or alternative. He was told to throw his coffee into the bucket, but I'll doubt that.

I assume he only had the cup after the task and neither before nor during the task. There's also no cameraman nor Alex that monitors his every move which supports this. Even if he use the cup the time already stopped for it.
As a Canadian the funniest part for me was "it was so cold, it was minus 3". I get excited when it gets that warm at the end of the winter 😄 like summer is coming baby 💃🏻
I'm from Pakistan and we start getting our sweaters out at 15 degrees lmao. 25 is comfortable. 40 is hot.

I just realized why Greg is so perfect for his role as the taskmaster... He's just a dickish detention teacher. He's sitting around making children do meaningless tasks for the possible reward of being able to leave early because he doesn't believe in the punishment nor do they wanna be there. And you can believe me because while I've certainly been expelled suspended and even attested on school grounds I have never once in my memory had detention which makes me a unique expert on detention.
I do however remember walking home back in like k-1 with hands that are just twitching and crippled as the muscles and tissue where ripped up from spending countless hours writing meaningless statements in detention. I just don't have any memory of the detention its self.

oh I see, they measure based on how high the water is, not how much. So you could displace it with say, pees or sand.
I just realized, my intepretation of Greg’s face when he saw Dave’s greyish brown bucket is about something in relation to toilet business.
I wonder how they would have handled a contestant using their own clothes to soak up the water then putting the clothes in the other bucket.

Since I read the title, I just thought someone would use that hose to grab the handle and move it, but the rules were different so I was lied to.
That's what I was thinking, but then they mentioned not moving the bucket.
I like that Al didn't get penalized for bribing Alex because for one, it doesn't say anywhere that it's not allowed and second, the main indicator of corruption is not bribes being offered, it's bribes being accepted.

@@bloodynoses9693 If it was too cold it wouldn’t work, but we can’t tell that from watching. Just because it feels cold doesn’t mean the ground is frozen solid. And it’s clearly pretty wet out. If it wasn’t, they’d be able to carry a small amount of water to the dirt. There’s absolutely exposed dirt by the fences or any other poles in the ground. It’s never 100% grass. And packing that colander thing with mud on the inside would be very doable. I guess I don’t understand why you think it wouldn’t work.
@@elibeli597 well they’re in a field,and I’m not too sure if they own the field but having a big hole of dug up dirt isn’t something you would probably like seeing, but I guess they could repatch the ground if they do. But digging a hole in a track field...? And with what tools ? Dirt would be pretty hard to dig into with your fingernails , it might be softer if it was well soaked but it might still be a nuisance. I’m not an expert on dirt but that’s just my thoughts. Also what is the fairytale called

You could’ve seen it from the video, if you look at the start of the video, where the man asks what the peas are for, you can see his breath meaning it must’ve been quite cold. Also the clothing is a obvious indicator that it is chilly. Also they literally said the water was freezing and the temp was also freezing . So the soil probably couldn’t have been soft enough for digging
@@bloodynoses9693 I’m not suggesting they dig in the grass. Along the edges of the field, which are pretty close, there would definitely be open dirt. The fairy tale is a variation of The Princess and the Frog, The Frog King, The Well of the World’s End, or whatever you want to call it. There are a lot of versions of the story and that’s the one in a book of fairy tales I had as a kid.

I wish they showed the instructions, because people commonly mistake the instruction as well as add in words that are not there.

my idea that i came up with instantly is. Siphon as much water out of the bucket into the hose as possible, then plug both ends with thumbs and transport to the other bucket..

He didnt need the bucket lifted. The water level was higher than the bottom of the empty bucket. He only needed a couple of inches.

@@SKM6540 If the bowl is bigger than the plastic bag then you would have to rip the plastic bag in dozens of pieces to cover all the holes. To do that successfully would require great care so I really dont think it would be worth the time you invest - potentially destroying everything because it is hard to do that without scissors.

IFAW, A nonprofit organization that rescues among other things dolphins, just dealt with one of the largest dolphin standings on record. They rescued and relocated dolphins, over 150, off the coast of Maine in the United States. I think Alex Horne needs to donate that 60 pounds, or US$120 to the cause. I have no doubt that the money wasn’t originally donated and this nonprofit organization could really use the help.

Loop the hose under the handle. Grab both ends of the hose and carry the bucket by grabbing both ends of the hose.

@@charlieodom9107 the title says without touching the buckets. They say "without moving the buckets" meaning both. Technically you can move one but not both. Even in one of the attempts one of the buckets is moved by a 2nd party.

If the instructions said "moving" then touching it wouldn't do anything.
If the instructions said "bucket" then you could move the other bucket.
If the instructions said "both", "either", "buckets", etc then that would limit what you could do.
They need to show the instructions as they are written to dispel any dispute over what the instructions actually said. People are very good at reading shit incorrectly, making words plural when they should be single, adding or forgetting words, etc. Just hearing the instructions leaves too much to question.
Personally, in the spirit of the challenge, and what I think the authors intended, I would have moved bucket B to Bucket A by someone else's hand, then used a siphon to transfer the water.

@@charlieodom9107 you also can't siphon the water unless its placed on a pedestal or have another person holding the bucket up to allow the siphon to work.
after watching the international versions, it kinda funny seeing Rob being so cold, when in the Danish one they are often outside when its freezing and in the Norway one there even have specific tasks for outside in the snow (I know the big difference is they are prepared to be outside in the snow and Rob was not).
The best part is they could've used the peas to increase the level of the water since they were measuring the height of it not the amount of it. All they had to do was get about 2-4 cups of water in there and they'd've been solid 😂

Tie the corner of the bag. Place bag in bowl. tape edges. Put the peas and hose in bucket b to displace water for a higher reading.
Dude could've emptied out his cup of tea/coffee, and used that to move the water. Didn't say they had to use those items to transport it.
All these comments... I'll let you all in on a little secret.
The "hat" (as you call it, in Norway we call that kind "lue") was the best tool, along with your other clothes.
Soak them in water, wrap and twist them over the other bucket.
Easy, done in a couple of gos.
It's not even/barely negative celcius, you don't need a jacket AND two other layers either way, jacket or tee is enough. Even got sunshine ya sissies 😄
Edit: Or even better, I think one of them was wearing a rain coat.
Turn the rain coat inside out, put soft fabrics inside, squish into the bucket, lift up the rain coat with (almost) the entire content of the bucket inside, no leaking.

See that's just it, my thought was 'Oh the water's super cooled, put the net in it and it'll freeze around the net webbing that take it over to the other bucket.' But it doesn't seem that the water was at that point.
