Thank you for your opinion, but having the fusible fleece or batting protects your bottle and gives the bag more body. Also, if you are just using quilt-weight cotton and nothing to stabilize it- the bag will be limp and not look as good- in my opinion.

I think it would be super cute quilted!! You can always use batting instead of fusible fleece.
