Thanks for donating to a Rhode Island community helper. I (David) knit and crochet scarfs and donate them to one of our community helpers in Rhode Island.
You inspired me to get the serger. Saves so much time. I’ve donated these bags. Now, I am making coordinating bags to send the quilt tops I sell on my eBay and Etsy. Thank you!
Saw this a few weeks ago and just heard you mention it again in a video. It’s 1:00am, thought just go do it, went into sewing room, knew I still had some 3/16” cotton/poly clothesline cording from mask making last year (it was too thick, and wondered what I was going to ever use it for, lol), pulled out some extra fabric yardage I had, and whipped up five in less than one hour total time! My ironing board is right next to my serger and found it super quick to iron down the 2” and back up to make the casing. Did them assembly line and they were done in no time! Will make more tomorrow morning and get them in the mail! Thanks for letting us be a part of doing something so good, and that was super fast and didn’t cost me a thing! Your video tutorial was excellent! Something else for all the sewists out there….every cancer center has a big need for “port pillows” fir the chemo patients. They’re approx 3.5” x 7.5” finished size (so double the long length, so approx 4” x 15” of fabric), insert some Velcro half way down and see inside out. Turn it right sides out, stuff gently with poly fill, fold the last raw edge in and stitch across. Plenty of UA-cam videos on these! The Velcro is then strapped around the seatbelt making a soft cushion to protect their port sites from the pressure and rubbing from a seatbelt. Same concept as the covers for babies car seat straps, but just two small pieces of Velcro across the middle. I then place each one in a generic sandwich bag and deliver a bag full to my local cancer center. There is a bit of cost in the Velcro and the poly fill, but I don’t mind as I know my small cost is nothing compared to the medical bills cancer patients get. And the center and patients are soooo very thankful. I do have to work a bit to find fabric for the men that’s not flowery, haha. Just a thought!
So glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching and hope to see you again soon! I'll pass the info on about the port pillows for the cancer centers. What a great idea!
AWESOME Tutorial!!!! I am new to sewing and I wanted to start out with something beginner friendly and easy. This is perfect!!! Thank you in advance for the video. I love it! I am going to try and make some of these today to give to friends, local shelter and love ones. I definitely need to invest in a serger now. Excited about my challenge of making these. I can use up my extra fabric now. Thanks again!
Absolutely super! I know you are 'hoping' for 400 bags for that specific charity. With your following, however, I'm guessing you may get ten times that!!!! And that's good too! Maybe same charity can use them all eventually - or maybe another charity needs same product. You are great people, supporting the public interests across the US of A. You go, Boys!
Thank you so much! They are for a great cause! Thanks for watching and for supporting our service project! We would love to see some pictures if you were able to make any bags! See you again soon!
OK, this construction is so clever! I have been sewing a long time and just learned how to make a channel on the serger. I am going to wip up some bags and send them out. Thanks so much for this great video.

Are we filling the bags before sending them to you? Or will you guys be filling them? How many are you looking for? As easy as this project is, I'm thinking I'm good for a dozen, or so. Thanks for another great pattern/ video!!
Thanks so much for watching and so sorry for the delayed reply. Yes we just need the bags. Thank you for supporting this great cause! Send us some pictures of your bags! See you again soon!
ೋღ☃ღೋ G'Day B-Bud from Australiaೋღ☃ღೋ What a wonderful idea!!!! You can make them bigger, applique or embroider your name on it to put your quilts in to take to the longarm!

Hello! Sorry for the delayed reply. Yes a 1/4" will work fine. You can use any size as long as you allow enough room to thread it through. Good luck on the bags! Send us a picture of your finished product! Thanks for watching!

While I do not own a serger, think it's great that you did this project using one. Variety is the spice of life!

If you did two drawstrings and attached at each bottom corner you would have a backpack that would be easier to carry.
Great idea.
I was thinking the same thing when I saw them talking about it on Tuesday.
Yes that's a great idea! Hopefully we will have a tutorial for the backpack idea soon. Thanks so much for watching!!
You can make your cording from bias cuts of fabric...left over from your binding fabric

What size cording did you use?
I ask Brody on the live the other day and asked if 1/4” works and he said yes. 😉
Hello! Sorry for the delayed reply. Yes a 1/4" will work fine. You can use any size as long as you allow enough room to thread it through. Good luck on the bags! Send us a picture of your finished product! Thanks for watching!
