Yes. LMAD is a host-driven show. There are some shows where the game is good enough, that the host doesn't matter. But gameshows like this, Deal Or No Deal, etc, where there's no trivia questions, or physical challenges, really depends on a talented host to keep it entertaining. In fact Deal Or No Deal got worse, by turning it into a survivor-like reality show, and picking a boring host.
Interesting how they had a live musician in the pilot (drummer Pamela), then didn't have a live musician when the actual show started, then later brought on a live musician in keyboard player Cat Gray
Anyone else really glad they didn't stick with an all-drums music package? My head hurts after watching this. That said, a little bit of parity was lacking in the prize value, but it's a pilot, so. And interesting that they originally decided on the live zonks like the classics had, cool. And Wayne is Wayne. Good stuff (except for all the drums).
Thanks, Wink. Only Tiffany Coyne and Cat Gray are missing. But, the same Wayne Brady and Jonathan Mangum, though the latter sounds totally different here.
Seeing how LMAD has progressed since this pilot, it's great that Wayne and Jonathan have grown into their roles, and seeing Rachel instead of Tiffany was a bit odd.
Apart from a few minor differences, this feels exactly like a 2009 episode of Let's Make a Deal. Glad they got rid of the obnoxious drummer and brought in Cat Gray instead.
Don’t know if you have them any chance you have the price is right host audition tapes for bob’s replacement only one on internet is Mike Richards would love to see the others
You can really tell that the bones were there for the foundation of a great version of the show. The only thing I didn't understand was the drummer...only a drummer? Pretty weak, if you ask me. Plus, the color scheme was just...gaudy. Plus, there was too much gameplay, no improv. The improv makes this version unique and makes it really stand out from all other versions of this or any other show. Was the improv as prominent when the show premiered as it is now?
So you had a game with decent pacing, give it to Fremantle to do what they do best, and ruin it. I don't even care if I miss this show if I'm home, it's like a giant boat anchor dragging on, and on, and on, maybe a deal happens. The pilot is far better, although Mr Grey(sp?) is an improvement in the flushed out boat anchor version.
This pilot illustrated that Wayne Brady was the perfect pick to host this version of LMAD.

The Brady pilot was more like Monty version from the 80's mixed with a twist modern. I am glad CBS said yes to it.
This is probably one of the last, if not THE last, pilots taped for a daytime network game show.
Wink you legend
Up until now, the only things that existed of the pilot are some photos or screenshots on the Internet.
I can see how and why Wayne Brady got the job! I'm really happy for him and I hope it continues!
Wayne was the perfect choice for hosting LMAD. There's a reason it's hung around on CBS for 15 years now
Mr. Martindale, this was a cool episode to watch. The set is way different than it is now on CBS, since this had a lot of yellow and green.
The pilot that started it all!
Great pilot
This pilot was filmed July 2009 in studio 36 at CBS Television City.

WOW, Rachel Reynolds was super awesome on Let's Make A Deal, this is a super 2009 Pilot!!

my take on this is this is the show at like the 1 yard line, just needing the last little push over the goal line (which the show obviously got)
4:16 THEY GOT IT! THEY GOT IT! AND THE TROPICANA WITHOUT LSU, IS Boom, and done! What a game
I forgot Wayne had hair! Cool pilot!
Like a game show version of Captain Sisko of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. Now, shaven bald and a beard.
Seeing how LMAD has progressed since this pilot, it's great that Wayne and Jonathan have grown into their roles, and seeing Rachel instead of Tiffany was a bit odd.
We are still waiting for this show to win an Emmy and it deserves one soon. This season featured 6 consecutive shows with the big deal win.
The only thing that bothers me about the pilot is just having a drummer.... She's not bad but I can understand why they added cat gray to the cast

Happy Wednesday!!!!!
Don't expect Tiffany Coyne to be there though.
Allison
@@ErikFlores-mo3fs Ah ah, nope. Rachel Reynolds from The Price is Right is featured.
Indeed not. Tiffany Coyne joined LMAD midway through Season 1. The original model to start the series was Alison Fiori.
But No Brandi Sherwood-Cochran?

someone pinch me, i must be dreaming
*pinch*
This ain't no dream
You are not.
I did not know Rachel Reynolds was the original model on the pilot.
Thanks for this Wink, any hopes for that George Hamilton TPIR audition though?

@6:22, the pilot eps. used the old ZONK music, I wonder why they retired that when it went to air?
Awesomeness video please do more thanks ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Why is he dressed as Mr Moseby from “Suite Life” ?
Oh, joy! The Winkster strikes again!
Was that rachel Reynolds?
Yes it was
I saw Sting in the crowd ;-)
I've been wanting to see a pilot of Wayne Brady's version of Let's Make a Deal. I was surprised to see Rachel Reynolds on here.

Not as much. I would say around Season 2 when Tiffany and Cat were added the improv really began.

Those drums were annoying
I don't think I have ever seen LMAD with Wayne Brady.
It's on every day on CBS 🪨
You're JOKING, right?
uh unless you are outside of the United States how is that possible
...I'm sorry, HUH?!
