    You brought up a good point there with steinbergers, most guitar players have a small little hole to play in because you’ve lined the walls and all the floor space with the gear you’ve aquired over the years so room to move around is limited. These guitars are perfect for small spaces.

    I’ve played a few steinberger 6 string guitars and the look is an aquired taste maybe but the quality of guitar is phenomenal for the price. They play like a mix between a high end ibeneze and a rickenbocker (possibly misspelled). That’s been my take on em anyway. I never liked the tuning situation on them but they tend to stay in tune extremely well so you won’t need to tune it much. I’ve never played a bass so I’m kind of curious about it. Glad someone did a video on one.

    I have a Cort, licensed by Steinberger, 6-string version of this guitar I bought in the early 80's. Back when I was in a band...it was always the last guitar standing. It's almost impossible to break a string and it's ability to hold tune is nothing short of amazing. I brought it to a guitar shop in the 90's and all they did was replace the dime sized pots. I'm curious if Steinberger is still having Cort build them and issuing them under the Steinberger name.

    Can you do a video on how you fixed the tuners? I am running into the same problem and would love to see how you did it and where you got the replacement or parts to fix.

      It's really quite easy. Just detune & unscrew the knobs one at a time & remove from the corresponding saddle. Keep in mind there is a spring between the back of the bridge & the saddle. The knob will come out the back with a long threaded shaft. Remove the crappy nylon washer & install a thrust bearing. Replace the assembly making sure the threaded shaft goes back through the spring & into the saddle. Screw it back in & retune. Repeat this for all of the tuners one at a time. There is a graphic at the end of the video showing the bearings I used. I found them on Amazon. They are still installed on the bass & function perfectly. I played it last night at a rehearsal with one of my bands.

      @@BassHappy64 Did you have to take the bridge off to do the fix?

    • @BassHappy64
      @BassHappy64  Рік тому +1

      @joekustek2623 nope. There are Phillip's head screws in the ends of the tuning knobs. Make sure they are tight & leave them in. Just turn each knob counter clockwise until the shaft fully unscrew from the saddle. Pull it all the way out & replace the nylon washer with the bearing & screw it back together. You may need a small needle nose pliers to hold the spring in place when you put it back together. The threaded shaft has to go back through the spring. It's really simple. Just do them one at a time. Go slow. The whole job takes 10 or 15 minutes from start on the first one to finished on the last one.

      @@BassHappy64 I do not see any plastic washer is that inside the bridge plate? It's very confusing but would love to fix like you did.

      In the video I show the bearings installed between the tuning knobs & bridge Chasis. That is where the washers that need to be replaced are & of course you don't see them because they are crushed. I'm going to do a vid right now. Come back in an hour.

      The type & size are at the very end of the video. Just pause it when it gets there. I found them on Amazon.

      It plays & sounds decent for what it is but it is not the Steinberger of old. Is it worth $500? That is up to the player to decide. I like it because its light & small. Great for practice & small stages. The one issue I run into is when transporting in its gig bag, people think that I'm carrying a rifle.
