Wow, Greg, first an Oberheim TEO-5 demo, now a Sterling 5-string, another instrument I’m mildly tempted by. I am curious. Do you play synth bass a la Ray Manzarek (I know he played a Piano Bass, not a synthesizer)? That’s a skill I’ve been trying to hone for 27 years now.

Typically I play string bass but I have a Moog Subsequent 37 & Minitaur bass synth that I will be revewing in the near future. On stage I play electric bass, keyboard synths & pedal synth.

There are two ways to wire together 2 audio coils. (this is also true for speakers) series or parallel. One daisy chains the two coils one after the other (series). The other splits the current to the coils equally (parallel). A filter will allow certain frequencies to pass while blocking others, thus changing the sound of the device. In this case the high frequencies are blocked while allowing the lows & some of the mids to pass through. Wiring the two coils in the pickup in series or parallel also changes the sound of the device.
