In my opinion, the line about her friend smelling like weed or babies I feel like that is saying I have friends that took this route and then I have friends that took this route Like for example, a lot of people in their 20s and 30s have friends that are starting families and getting married and have children while some other friends are still single partying acting like youth So I think the line is in my opinion
I really don't understand why people are so upset with this line. It represents a time in your life when you look around and see a striking difference in how people in your age group are living their lives, either starting families or continuing to party. I don't think it's awkward at all.
This is directed to the haters in this comment section: These comments are disappointing. This album, lyrically and musically is I think her best album in my opinion. This album is basically like if folklorefolklore & Midnights fucked. If anyone has forgotten, those two albums won her album of the year. This is sonically cohesive, and next time at Grammys, she’s nominated for album of the year and she wins again, don’t be surprised because I looked up how and why Grammy voters vote for the album of the year and the main thing they say is that they vote for albums that are sonically cohesive. Also, the instrumentals and production are bringing back retro 70s to 80s style of music. If this style of music isn’t your cup of tea then just say that, but be respectful about it. Don’t be like “This album sucks” just because you can’t comprehend it.
This album is hard to get through the first few times but you become more and more obsessed with it until you just can't get it out of your head and you can't stop listening… So if you found it dull the first time… Try again it's phenomenal
To be fair Taylor and Matty have known each other since 2014, and he was asked if he would ever seriously date her and he said no it would be emasculating to date Taylor
5:20 im not sure about that it could be, but one thing that I’ve noticed is Taylor reuses a lot of pitch patterns and even cadences in her melodies. Not hating just an observation
The very first song on this album sounded like her other songs. I do worry that so much of her music is going to keep sounding the same. I think she should have played with different beats and melodies on her new album.
@@saakshishetty7786 its more of a combination of her previous sounds. Nothing really “new” in my honest opinion. I enjoyed the album though especially the 2nd half track 17-31. The first half was really spotty though and I didn’t love the production. But 2nd half🤌
If you liked Florence and the Machine on Florida you should listen to her actual albums where she can really let loose, Dance Fever is her most recent album
Yea bro, she pissed, good on her for putting it out there & speakin her truth. Takes balls specially w/some of her fanbase. Blasting her b/c it’s “not her best wrk” like she some kind of mechanical machine used purely for their entertainment. She thinking outside the industry box and being vulnerable af. Ppl hating doesn’t diminish the depths of ttpd if anything it exposes shallowness bro. I may not love every song but I respect it period. She known for crafting her music w/purpose - if I had to take a guess I’d say the lowkey melodies, some blending into one another is to enhance the spoken word aspect of this album (poetry) 🤌🏽 I’m not even a swifty and this hate trend got me some type of way boiiii
"the hospital" refers to a mental hospital bc the whole story of the album is that she was in a "mental asylum" bc the shit she was going through over the past 2 made her crazy. The journey of enduring a failed relationship, struggling with infidelity on both sides towards the end, going back to matty who was an on and off situationship of hers since 2014 (fresh out the slammer explains this part), to it becoming public and experiencing the same terrible backlash (but daddy i love him) as always but so much worse, then to finding out she really can't fix him and he sucks. other tracks have other meanings like clara bow is about being an it girl and how being in the spotlight i not as it seems bc all your life you will be compared to others in attempts to "replace" them. also in but daddy i love him she breaks the 4th wall and basically tells her fans to fuck off because she can make her own choices and it's so iconic it's my favorite song. i also like guilty as sin? so much bc it talks about her experience with emotional cheating and a lot of people can prolly relate especially bc at the end she asks herself if she's allowed to cry bc like she's guilty as sin yet still wrecked from her breakup. i encourage you to give these ones another listen and read the lyrics bc they're phenomenal. also the bridge of the smallest man who ever lived is so amazing if you really read the lyrics and at the end she actually says the opposite of "forgive but never forget" as she says "and i'll forget you, but i'll never forgive the smallest man who ever lived". theres so much more but if you haven't you should listen to the anthology bc the story gets even better from there and the music has completely different styles than the first half of the album
i love midnights, evermore, and folklore. thou ttpd follows the similar style and pattern with these three, it's hard for me to get through the album. i can't distinguish one song from another
You can’t tell the difference between the music of I can do it with a broken heart in Fortnite or Florida featuring Florence and the machine or down bad maybe you’re just tone deaf
Real tbh like afcourse there some that stick out but a lot of it sounds the same it’s numbing and a lot of her lyrics are good but the way it’s said it’s just sounds like everything else (I mean the same tone in multiple signs) the amount of songs it a little overwhelming as well
Oh guilty as sin is fire n hot 🔥- feelings n thoughts in her mind without even being with him - think she’s talking about thoughts about Matty when she was with Joe

I've listened to Taylor since her first album and this one... is boring and the vibe is all over the place. When I saw the Anthology release, I actually felt tortured at the prospect of listening to the other songs. 4 on the main album are just okay. I like Black Dog, and I Look in People's Windows on the Anthology, the only two out of 31 songs I care to listen to again. 🤷♀
I feel like her albums lyrically are good but musically uGHH , all are starting to sound THE SAME , maybe she should publish a book of poems instead of making them into songs or get better music producers ig
Yes!! Reuse recycle style. Love Taylor, but its been downhill since Midnights for me. Quantity over quality. The one song that stood out was Florida. And even there the production was incredibly boring on most of the song.
@@jenniferzbarouskaya6543 agreed and this album doesn’t feel the it was written by a grown woman. It feels like someone in HS wrote it. The pre mature lyrics is getting old and weird atp.
