I was in college when this came out & was dating a girl named Rosanna. Didn't work out but this song always reminds me of great times. If you go back & listen to the original version, it doesn't sound much different 40 years later. Yes they are that good.
The beat to "Rosanna" is the invention of the late Jeff Porcaro, the original drummer. The synth master is Steve Porcaro. Keyboardist/singer David Paich. The lead singers Steve Lukather and Joseph Williams. Toto's standard of excellence is unsurpassed. I consider everything they've done legendary.🤘😎❤
If you were to listen to "Africa" from the same concert, you'd be introduced into yet another vocalist in the band. Another amazing voice...and I'll leave the discovery for you.
I'm going to age myself, but, the year this song came out, my family traveled cross country to the world's fair in Knoxville Tennessee, and back then, there was no satellite radio or tv. so, there were breaks in between cities where there was no radio reception, so, every time we came into range of city's radio receptions, this song and Africa were always playing at every city we came to, I got sick of Rosanna and Africa real quick, but, now that I am older, I have come to appreciate them.
Not written for her, David P was writing the song and used her name because it fit for the song at the time. Steve Porcaro was dating Rosanna A then and he actually wrote the song Human Nature that was recorded by MJ on the Thriller album.
Hi Ola! I'm so happy u reacted to this song! I've loved this song since I was a kid! Thank you! Check out Toto's "Hold The Line", another great song of theirs
Love your reaction Ola! I recently saw Toto live at the Hollywood Bowl. They are mostly all gray beards now, but boy can they still rock! One of the best concerts that I've seen in a long time. I think the opening song Girl Goodbye was my favorite of the night. Here's a link to my iPhone video of Toto performing Rosanna. ✌❤🔥 ua-cam.com/video/4mZNu0XKVSE/v-deo.htmlsi=lQR8B9vPWRw1SwBP

In case you didn't know, the lead singer is Joe Williams, son of John Williams, famous composer, who wrote the star wars theme, among others

No Toto only
You REALLY should have done original video. That is not the real singer of the song. Live versions mostly are not that good.
