I remember my first playthrough: The inexplicable rush of water and the darkness, the clack of the air tank going on, waking up to find Curly lifeless on the ground. The door slamming shut, the mad, desperate barrage from every last weapon in my arsenal trying to get it back open. Countless games have plots that center around personal vendettas and fighting for justice. But it was only this- a humble two-dimensional side-scroller- that made me feel a palpable thirst for vengeance.

Then, after many, many tries, I finally beat the Core, only to have my oxygen run out. I knew she was going to die. I knew I failed in doing things in the right order. But then what I saw... it stuck, and it hurt. "No. I can do better. For Curly." *RESET*
I just played Cave Story+ for the first time the other day and after defeating the Core boss I was freaking out since I thought I was gonna drown but then Curly gave me her air tank and drowned. After that I just sat there for 10 minutes feeling like shit since I didn't save her and now every time I hear this track, I can't help but get teary eyed.
I only use this song while I am playing my games (like in the bgm) But only when my game switches to night time. The song is great for Cave Story and for night time-ish settings.

As much as I feel ashamed to have once enjoyed playing Banned From Equestria Daily, the brony community brought me and my friends closer together. I feel so dreadfully nostalgic for those days in early 2012, it's all over now and this song brings back those memories.
How such a rather simple, moody tracks can convey so many emotions is incredible. At first, you go in and the track creates a sort of suspenseful mystery; a sort of chugging pace befitting the inner machinations of the core, and a somewhat sombre atmosphere in anticipation to what comes next. Then, you go in, and the fight occurs, and then... the mood has altered. Now suddenly, the piece is melancholic and sorrowful, as if grieving what just took place and reminding you of the consequences; however, still being uplifting enough to say "Do not let this sacrifice go in vain. Go out and fulfill her legacy"
Warning, Cave Story spoilers... This is the most versatile song in the game (In my opinion) as it is played as you visit this grand new area, adventuring onward for your friend that sacrificed herself for you, and being a hero and saving your friend who sacrificed their life for you to save everyone. I completely agree, one of my friends introduced me to this game last week, first game i dint save curly as i didn't know how, and when that door shut i just felt so bad. The music in that area makes me cry a little, perfect game with awesome music.
And that's what makes the game a really good one. Just the atmosphere telling the story nothing else. It's almost like Zelda where you don't know the story by the characters just the atmosphere itself.

Proves robots really can feel emotion. This is my favorite song from the whole game, and is second in my all time favorite video game songs ever (behind Crashed Frigate from Metroid Prime, Midna's Lament from Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess took third.) I might draw Quote and Curly together, in love, simply because of this song. It's their love theme. Curly sacrificed herself by giving Quote her Air Tank, Quote repaid the favor by draining the water from her systems.

yes, this is one VERY emotional game, right up there with Mother 3 and Klonoa, which all were so emotionally fucked-up that you'd be going "aw, thats so cute!" to crying your eyes out on the floor. And this music really moves it along, when both other games never really added to the sad feelling. I still cant believe that ONE person made it, and I WON'T believe that he never had and former music training. He really is a genius, I mean you see 2 robots riding a flying toaster-lunchbox soap thing!

I completely agree, one of my friends introduced me to this game last week, first game i dint save curly as i didn't know how, and when that door shut i just felt so bad. The music in that area makes me cry a little, perfect game with awesome music.

this is one of the saddest yet amazing video game experiences i've ever had i'm proud of it
even after replaying and saving her making the ending right i can't forget that... i can't forget that i let her die in another timeline... i always think cave story should be more dramatic, for the most part sometimes horrible things happen and the game goes on normally hahaha

This song brings so much nostalgia from the first ever playthroughs of people. Not leaving the island but to instead save it from utter destruction. Not being able to save Curly from the sudden death we were put in. And now, this song plays. Fits in with the current mood.

This is my favorite song from the whole game, and is second in my all time favorite video game songs ever (behind Crashed Frigate from Metroid Prime, Midna's Lament from Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess took third.)
I might draw Quote and Curly together, in love, simply because of this song. It's their love theme. Curly sacrificed herself by giving Quote her Air Tank, Quote repaid the favor by draining the water from her systems.
I still really like this song a lot. I kinda wish the area Geothermal played in was longer, but I also kinda appreciate how short the area is. Makes you appreciate the song that much more.

Now, about the music, I agree with you, the scene had me kind of anxious too. But oddly enough, to me the boss wasn't that hard. Most of the impact I had from the song and the scene was because of Curly's death.

yes, this is one VERY emotional game, right up there with Mother 3 and Klonoa, which all were so emotionally fucked-up that you'd be going "aw, thats so cute!" to crying your eyes out on the floor. And this music really moves it along, when both other games never really added to the sad feelling. I still cant believe that ONE person made it, and I WON'T believe that he never had and former music training. He really is a genius, I mean you see 2 robots riding a flying toaster-lunchbox soap thing!

It's bittersweet, but this song is a reminder that no matter how hard life gets, you have to push through it. You can't fix the mistakes you made, but you can make things right if you act now.

In my first playthrough, I though the core was going to be a bigger zone, kinda like Bushlands. I was excited, because I expected to hear this music while exploring a larger level.
Then the fight. My heart broke because I had the booster, so no tow rope.
This song sounds similar to Kirby 64's Rock Star 2.
Also, version 1.5 is out. Expect more people coming to this video.
