- Controller player beating Ultra Nightmare with mouse and keyboard
Normally I wouldn't upload this kind of video as I wasn't using a controller, but it's somewhat of a personal achievement for me to learn how to play doom on a M&K at a high enough level to beat UN. Now that it's done, i'll be switching back to controller for future videos. + Apparently my PC struggles to both play and record specifically at the super gore nest part of the video so it's better off I stick to console :/
If anyone's interested in my learning process for mouse and keyboard, here's what I did every day for a week straight:
- Aim booster (online cursor accuracy test) - 30 minutes
- Aim Lab (Steam app) - 1 hour
- Quake Champions, Apex Legends or any game with advanced movement mechanics (Steam game) 1-2 hours
The week after consisted of Nightmare runs until I was competent enough to attempt Ultra Nightmare
Scaling: 2
H and V sensitivity: 40/40
DPI: 400
FOV: 110 - Ігри
It's not just an Ultra-Nightmare run... there are long intervals while he takes absolutely no damage.
3:11:57 This mad lad just tried to Crucible the Icon of Sin's arm on Ultra Nightmare.
If you time it right you can Crucible the Icon of Sin, one-shotting his parts

Cultist base and exultia are the hardest level on UN imo. First time I succeeded it After many Times dying and restarting, I died against the Khan Mayker.
@@Akard517hell The slow down time rune is really good for landing those headshots on the drones, and triple lock + 2 ballista shots can immediately open the Khan to a blood punch. You probs already know this, but might help someone else

Hey, I wanted to say that you inspired me to get much much better with controller in DOOM Eternal. You were my inspiration to improve my skill ceiling. I would have never even try to play DOOM on nightmare before, but after I watched all your videos I wanted to give it a shot, and now I can play Nightmare! I still die but that's nothing compared to what I was doing before... I couldn't even manage Ultra-violence with controller.... but that's just a learning curve. I have much to learn still!

I just wish we had SnapMap so we could make our own crazy campaign levels. I know people want mod support instead of SnapMap, and I do support modding and think it is also essential, but I shouldn’t have to learn how to mod to make my own custom content. Halo does it, Fallout does it, TF2 does it, why can’t DOOM? Plus it would be so much better in DOOM Eternal compared to DOOM 2016.
WE NEED THIS. snapmap was the best part of DOOM 2016 tbh and it would be a blessing to have it in this newer game
Cody Robinson There’s a video on my channel I made discussing why DOOM Eternal needs SnapMap. I made it in hopes of getting it popular enough to reach id Software’s attention. If enough people watch and like and comment then maybe the devs will start to see how the community agrees with my points and they may consider putting a map maker in DOOM Eternal!
But we have to be vocal about it. UA-cam is a very good platform to go viral and to reach people that otherwise might not pay attention to you, so that’s why I made my video in hopes to reach id Software by proving that people DO care about SnapMap. Even if you don’t like and comment and support my video, just talking about SnapMap and other map makers for DOOM Eternal is getting a discussion going and getting attention on the subject!

Question for ya! I remember in a past video you’d mentioned wanting to go to pc due to being restricted by console - I took it that you meant controller was holding you back. Do you feel you could reach an even higher potential if you dedicated to M+K? I read this video’s description and it sounds like you prefer controller

If I dedicated more time to mnk I would be a better player than on controller. Because my channel is based on PS4 gameplay I've decided not to use mnk again because i'll moving on to other games eventually. Doom provided me with an opportunity to explore my interest with mnk as i'm always down to learn new things.
Everyone else has a bunch of fodder demons spawn and kill the icon of sin easily while I had 20 cacodemons spawn at once and constantly jumping me

Since clockner isn't doing DOOM Eternal, I guess your the new clockner, keep up the no damage runs my guy
What I've learned is it works well to record game play onto a different hard disk to where the game file is stored if you're not already doing that :)

Was pretty funny in the super gore nest level when a player empowered demon showed up and you destroyed it in about 15 seconds. Very funny, bet that guy was left wondering what happened.

@SmvR ... I watched this whole video. During the entire time, I saw only _ONE_ demon! Well, you bury hell, anyway. BTW, I have had the game about 6-7 weeks. I am not even half as good. But, I pulled off a couple of your jump shortcuts, and a couple of your meathook shortcuts. I really liked the one after the first battle of Icon of Sin, where you meathooked the top right demon and went to the wall on the right, then jumped to the floor on the right. I got that one on the first try. I was sooo proud! :-p

This is, as always, incredible to watch. I need to ask man ‘cause I’m so curious: how do you LEARN such skills in games, how do you get so good? Do you grind and focus on little moves or just play around multiple times? Because it seems that you’re a “master in mastering”!!!
Thanks! I have a slight obsession with learning new skills. Most of my knowledge comes from playing the game with a controller, the rest (aiming/movement mechanics) was as a result of consistent training (in desc.).

In the description you say sensitivity 2 and scaling 40/40. Did you mean scaling 2 and sensitivity 40/40 (since sensitivity options cover horizontal and vertical seperately)?

Hi Smvr, I wanted to ask if you could tell me how you set up the keyboard and mouse to play doom.
I use numeric keypad mouse to play doom and my setup is this: 4-5-6-8 keys for movement, 7 for dash, 9 weapon wheel, 3 change weapons mod, 1 change equipment launcher (switch between frag grenade and cryogenic bomb) 0 jump, Num_delete Cryogenic / frag grenade, Num + flame belch, Num "/" crucible, Num "-" BFG 9000 and Num Enter for glory kill.
For the mouse it is as follows: RMB Fire, LMB weapon mod, MB5 Rocket launcher, MB4 Chaingun, Mousewheel Up Ballista, Mousewheel Down SSG, Mousewheel button Chainsaw.
I have also tell you that I have improved a lot looking at your fighting techniques.

I have been playing with m+kb for decades with very similar settings to yours and I have nowhere near the accuracy of you. How are you able to snap to and track moving targets so well?

It’s about spamming jump with air control rune as much as you can. Air mobility is key for not getting hit

Ps4 vs PC thoughts man?
Using a normal ps4 controller without back buttons, it was easy on I'm too young to die and hurt me plenty, but on higher difficulties I found PC to be much better.
If your referring to the platform, obviously PC is better with a higher frame rate (maybe ps5 will change this) If it’s about kb&m or controller, I prefer controller.
SmvR yeh I imagine with new gen tech PS5 will have better and smoother frame rates for sure. Interesting that you still prefer controller over keyboard man, I would’ve thought being able to bind the keys where you want would be a major bonus plus faster weapon switching. You can re bind with the controller to and adjust the weapon wheel how you like so same same I guess
