I love these trains so much. I like their classic WABCO-AA2 horns. They continue to be a splendid sight, and sound for many more years to come. And for me, seeing these twin trains. Dreaming about them so often. Whether they're running local, express, and limited services, I would really miss them because they're sleek, modern, fast, reliable, and useful too.
My favourite childhood memories of the faithful Twin Silverliners is seeing them on the R2 Warminster-Newark Limited, the R6 Norristown Express, and the R8 Chestnut Hill West Local service.
@@malachimuhammad-dy2ow Well!! I am from Hong Kong. Here, the railway company is replacing those older trains now. The trains' chairs are donated to charity groups for their use and fro environmental protection.
Man, those old cars were built for the long haul. Especially the Budd cars. Like, what? 48 years? They were smooth runners and fast. How many bazillion miles did some of these cars have on them, I wonder?
With the retirement of these MU's, this leaves only NJ Transit, and the Northern Indiana Commuter Transportation District's South Shore Line, (Chicago) with cars that actually "LOOK" like real MU commuter cars without the fluffy additions and designs! But the new ones are nice...it's nice that NJ Transit aren't copying SEPTA's designs for new railcars. I do believe though that after a few years, they are going to change those annoying oversized "stripes/graphics" on the sides of the new "Silverliner 5" cars with much smaller lettering. The South Shore and NJ Transit's Cars were all based on the same design as the Silverliner IV's. But the SEPTA II and III Cars have that funny operating cab setup that I never could understand. That cab setup key they used...for forward and reverse. It's so different. I have ridden the "Sllverliners" Pennsy and Reading...whenever I visited the area. And I remember one of the cars still said "Pennsylvania" on it...car #269. Is SEPTA still using the Silverliner IV MUs? Those "Horns" are and sound like the ones on old 1926/1950 South Shore Commuter Cars! Thank You for posting this video! :) Well done, Mike. :)
@ 4:14 (flush) Aaaaaah........Lmao!!. All kidding aside....i am glad you posted the footage. The SL II's n III's were my second favorites next to the old Reading Blueliners .I'll be sad when the SL 4's go too . :(
I lived in Philadelphia in 2013 when these were being phased out. Can't wait until they get rid of the Silverliner IVs. Hopefully they replace them with good rolling stock like LIRR M9s or Bombardier Aventras.
They are completely different cars. IIIs were built by St. Louis Car in the mid to late 1960s. IVs were built by GE in the mid 1970s. I don't think it's even possible to pair Silverliner IIIs and IVs together in the same train, but maybe I'm wrong. I never saw GE cars mixed with IIs (Budd Cars) and IIIs, but you saw IIs and IIIs mixed together all the time. What differences did you have in mind?

Me too. They're so much better than the Silverliner 5 cars
I watched this video as a kid with my dad 😮 brings back so many good memories😊
5:39 I love when they run express though Melrose Park on the ex-Reading Main Line in both 6 and 5 coaches.
I just love the Silverliner 2s and 3s.
I love the rain scenes!!!

At 11:25, you're making me hungry for toast, Michael!
😂😂😂😂😂
Gotta love the high ditchlights on the II’s
So classic. These were real railroad cars and not like typical urban light rail cars. Very heavy built and COMFORTABLE ride.
1:27 I will give the Silverliner 2s and 3s A nickname. The Twin Silverliners.
I miss hearing the sound of the train whistle every day and night because I moved to Georgia

4:01 why is there a toilet noise 😂 were you taking a dump 😂
Really???? Bathroom sounds at 4:00? Well, at least I hope it was in a Silverliner!
Sounds like an "All in the Family" sound effect when Archie Bunker went to the "terlet"!
What was really cool was that cars used to say Pennsylvania or Reading on the side. That was until septa covered it up.
fast, even for a 50 year old train.
@CarePeers The SEPTA's Silverliner 2s are 49 years old and the Silverliner 3s are 45 years old.
That train sounds like the broad Street Subway horn kinda
Well, I miss the Twin Silverliners being around.

I didn't see them on the R6 Norristown Line.
One of the Old Budd Silverliners was preserved. It is currently stored in Frazer Yard.

I got one question
You should make one of these for the AEM-7’a and ALP-44
Rail fanning while taking a dump😂😂😂
Antonio Preston good times!
So, the Silverliner 2s and 3s have bodies that look just like each other. And quite similar. So twins right?
fun fact: I only ever really knew the iis and iis for 257's fiery end
They were a piece of memory in everyone's head. I would be a magnificent idea if they'll be part of a mod for Train Simulation. Just a thought...
How you doing trainwizard cuz I've been watching your videos a lot and I'm a big fan of them
Thank you; I'm out here pumpin' out more videos.
@@TrainwizardMy brother misses the Silverliner 2s and 3s. Especially 257.
Great video and picture slideshow! Fantastic shots! Very inspiring! Will miss the IIs and IIIs. Won't be long till the IVs go either.
*sobs* I'm gonna miss them.

What about the St. Louis cars?
@@malachimuhammad-dy2ow None of the St Louis Car Company Silverliner IIIs survive.

fun fact: a silverliner ii (Pennsy 257) actually caught on fire on 4 November 2009
nobody died, luckily, everyone managed to escape
I remember when that happened. I wasn't there to see it but it was all over the news and transit fan forums. I am SO glad nobody was lost.

About 49 years.

Is there somewhere to reference the differences between the Silverliner III and Silverliner IV ?? The V is obvious. Thank you

There are segments in this video with the IVs mixed in with IIIs for sure.
Mixed train. Check out 7:40.

Always my favorite to this day. AM Express through Wallingford Station on the R3 Media Elwyn Line. Next stop Morton.
That’s the best clip

Wow I commented this on my old channel? Ok
4:00 ?????
At around 4:30, what was that on the rail?
The silverliner 5s are slow
Are you sure about that ?
John cena : are you sure about that!!
They're not slow!

@@malachimuhammad76 on my opinion they're not and they have a speaker 🔊 for the train so the conductor don't have to yell out the station
Good try
