North Philadelphia is not too far from the Amtrak crash site. Correct? I rode through that site just last week. I got off the Trenton line at Bridesburg. Even though I live along the West Trenton line, I had business to take care of so I rode the Trenton line for the first time. I also rode on a Silverliner V for the first time. NEAT Train cars!!!
The crash happened at Frankford Jct. which is about 1 mile South of Bridesburg Station. and I was Pissed that there was No Shuttle Bus service for the R7 as I live about 1 Mile West of Holmesburg Jct. so I had to go to Fox Chase to get into center city at that time
I can't recall exactly how many hour I use spend at Holmesburg Jct. Growing just about 6 or 7 blocks away, Holmesburg Junction was like having room outside of the house.
Alot of times when im there, locals come down and just watch trains and its always nice to catch the Push Pull Trenton express with a Septa toaster or ALP44
I missed an opportunity to take ride on the Blue Route when it open, because I went to Holmesburg JCT. However, I did get a rie on an SW 1001 doing some switching near the old lumber yard at Cottman Avenue. I should've been home completing my Homework, but I didn't care.
I can recall the times I receive permission to sit up inside the tower. Man, If I only had my Technicians License and an HT, that would really been swell. I could really felt like railroader, because I would be talking to other railfans via radio.
Great vid Walter but I got something to tell you... Nice meet with the Acela at 3:06! Why in the world was that Northeast Regional on the inside at 3:35? Nice catch of that Silver Meteor and 611 at 3:58! Why was he on SEPTA track? Nice catch of that NS train at 5:46, I can understand why he is on SEPTA track... Nice catch of that SEPTA and that Crescent at 7:17! Why in the world was that Northeast Regional on the inside at 12:31?
Sorry for the late reply, but on this day there was track work going on between north philly and just before holmesburg station, so most trains were being sent on the local track in both directions. But actually its not too uncommon for amtrak to appear on the ''septa'' track so one must be alert. One train surprised me when it didnt switch over and came right at me.
The long haul with the acs, it was coming by pretty fast. you can actually see the camera move out of place. I have got to stop back past here and levittown soon.
Great video! Thank you!
Nice video...Looks like the old prison in the backround.
That's what it is.
@@quinnmattern2665. Was born in Philly, but move away from there when I was only 18 months old when my father was transferred to south Florida.
