Young or old, this is the sort of behavior a rescue/shelter cat will give you when you bring them from a damaged, unsafe environment to a patient, warm and loving home
My cat just turned 17. He’s actually gotten sweeter in his old age. He used to be super skittish as he was from a feral colony and I had him since a kitty. When he hit 12ish he started letting others besides me pet him. Seniors pets can give so much love if given a chance.
I’m going to cry so much when I lose him but we’ve lived a good life together and hopefully will continue for many more years in health.

I adopted 3 strays together in 2008. I just wanted 1 the other 2 were pity adoptions. My Job was in a canyon with Coyotes and didn't want to leave the other 2 behind. Now in 2023 1 of the Pity cats is the last one still alive. I also had dogs before her. For the first 10 years we barely interacted when the other pets slowly started passing away her personality came out more and more. Now she is so affectionate and I dread the day she passes. This is the longest any of me pets have lived and I think she opened up more each time someone passed because we both need each other.

I adopted my beloved old boy, a Norwegian Forest Cat, when he was 14, arthritic, half blind, and in pain. He and I had a blissful love, and he lived happily with me for another 10 years before his time came. He made my life amazing. Senior cats are precious and amazing.

That is why I've always been very hard on people who say they allow their cats outside. They have to contend with other animals diseases insects but the one thing that I would fear the most are other humans because humans can be disgustingly evil

There are some real sickos out there, I've heard some jerks shoot at them simply because they don't like them >.< then others try to purposely run them over with their cars. EVIL.

I remember a senior cat I fell in love with.
Her name was Big Mama. She was the oldest cat at the local shelter I volunteered at. I couldn't adopt her for multiple reasons, so I always made some time when I was there. She was super sweet, and constantly wanted to sit in my lap. It got to the point where she knew when I would come and wait by the front door for me, and demanded snuggles as soon as I walked in.
A proud queen, she died at the age of 23, laying in my supervisors lap.
Wow, 23 is well past the average life expectancy for cats (not unheard of but unusual).
Older and even adult cats are the best.

Volunteering at a cat shelter I find it so sad sometimes, when people come looking for kittens only..as though senior cats can't give that much love. And this sweet tabby is a living proof of how wrong people can be. Great these girls found each other ❤
Your analysis is correct. I'm a senior and went to a cat shelter 5 years ago. 1 Senior f.i.v. Orange cat was uncaged,on a perch. When I bent over he walked onto my back and laid down. His name is Woody. No fee for him as no one wants to adopt f.i.v. cats. Except me.😊
@@mattdonna9677 that's great) wish more people be more open to adopt cats with some issues. Couple years ago there was that one cat with leukaemia no one wanted, until another volunteer. And judging by their photos now the cat is thriving, almost doubled its furr))
That’s why I foster kittens and adopt older cats. We get all the fun of a kitten and all the love of an older cat. A lot of time and attention goes into it but it makes for a happy life❤

It's very rewarding taking on a senior that's had a hard life. My, well mine and my wife's, cat Minxy was nearly unapproachable for around 6 months. We think she had been abused and she had been adopted out and bought back a few times, which did not help matters. Eventually though, she turned into the sweetest little purr machine ever. She got diabetes though, the poor baby. She trusts me to give her injections though, so all good. Seniors are a great way of giving a chance to a cat that didn't have one.
Seniors are the best! From the moment you meet them, what you see is the sweet personality you get.
I don't care if people laugh. I believe in an afterlife for all life and I smile to think of this senior kitty greeting her cat mom when they're both over that bridge.

I believe you have more love to give, there is a cat out there for you in need of a home . It's painful to lose them. I lost "critter" 14years ago, I honored him by adopting an f.i.v. cat named Woody.

Well I thought I would not bond with another cat having my first 18 years then another 22 years but the heart has an amazing capacity for love. Like when you have children you don’t love one any less than another your heart just grows bigger. I have had Kizzie my current cat for 8 years and she is like a fine wine better with age and lots of attention. You should always do what is right for you. But maybe be open to the possibility ❤

I'm a firm believer that cat lovers will have more than one soul cat throughout their lives. I have/have had 2 so far.
I found my tortie, my 2nd soul cat, as a month-old kitten in the wall of a place that I used to work at. Lured her out with lunchmeat and water in the Texas summer heat. 10 years later, she'll still hang out wrapped around my shoulders like a scarf if I let her. She just always wants to be on me like MK here. We have 3 total, all seniors officially at this point, but you couldn't tell based on behavior. Senior pets have so much love to give, so thank you for adopting MK, Brittany! I think everyone can see that she appreciates it.

She is the sweetest! At shelters, they even call 5 year old cats "seniors" which is absurd. Cats can live into their 20s! Senior kitties tend to be teddy bear/couch potatoes. When senior people come into the shelter and want a "kitten" it blows my mind. Adult and senior cat's are easier to manage.
I adopted a beautiful black cat when he was four. He had been in a small cage for months. His past family gave him up because they were allergic to him. The shelter representative said, he suffered from depression and sat with his head down, in the back of his shelter cage. They told me it was his last day to live. I took him right away. They never told me he was on heart meds! I left without them, not knowing. When I brought him for his checkup about a month later, they said he had NO heart issues. They couldn't find anything wrong. He was my best friend. I loved him so much and treated him like gold. He lived for 21 years. Adopting a senior cat is beautiful. Both of you are gifts to each other. Beautiful video. Incredible. MK seemed immediately happy with the baby sling as it meant she could rub her head on her human. They DO look alike. It is wonderful.

I have a three year old shelter cat who went through hard times. They know when life has improved and show appreciation. We are in a race now to see who lives the longest. I'm striving to keep my health so he's never abandoned again.
My last two cats were seniors. I was fostering Buddy, (12 years old) but after two years of no one wanting him, I officially adopted him. He was with me for seven years. My Mia was 14 when I adopted her in 2021. She passed away a few weeks ago, and I miss her dearly. People, kittens are adorable, but they turn into adult cats pretty quickly. Adopt adult/senior cats. They are every bit as wonderful and lovable as kittens, and deserve to be in a loving home to finish out whatever number of their nine lives they have left.

You gave a senior kitty a whole new lease on life that she never would have experienced in a shelter. I recognize the soulmate kitty bond! If you are lucky, you experience that at least once with a cat or dog. I miss my soulmate kitty every day.

Beware:😉 Cats can get very old..! When our little grey lady passed, she was over 19 years old. We have had her since birth, and she lived the good life on a farm. She was much loved from the beginning, until the very end. 😢❤️

I adopted my black and white cat from a rescue group. She was 7 years old and had been at the rescue for 5 years! Once I heard how long she had been there, I had to take her home. Three years later and Shadow is a wonderful companion who purrs at the drop of a hat. It took her awhile to learn she could just stand at her food bowl and eat. She didn’t have to run to a corner with a bite and wolf it down before coming to get more. The food bowl was ALL hers. 🤗❤️

This is so adorable. MK must have thought she had landed in heaven when she met Brittany and Brittany understood about giving her space to make the move towards her. Of course she is her soul cat! I love and have loved all of my cats over the years, but we often have one (or sometimes more) who is just perfect for us. It's a lovely bond, and I think older cats are special. I had an old lady of almost 19 for 9 months before she passed and we just loved each other all that time. It was magical and I am so glad that when she was old and frail, she had a loving presence caring for her.
So, so, so precious!!! Please don’t overlook the adult cats in the shelter, folks! They are awesome!

This is so sweet but also so heartbreaking that a loving, attached at the hip cat, sat in an animal shelter alone and bored for 2 years!! Of course I'm thrilled that this wonderful girl adopted her and is giving her a great life but sad at her former life and that she was obviously dying to have someone to love! 😢😢😢😢

My cat was a feral in my backyard I thought was a boy but found out she was a girl when she had two kittens at my feet she was the same way very far or very skittish outside cat and all of a sudden she just turned into the biggest love bug that follows me everywhere and gets in bed with me all the time they're so loving God bless you for taking her and she's so happy now
You can see how grateful she is and having all the positive things in her daily life by participating in many activities will extend her life - youth with senior status. To a long and healthy, fun life together ❤️
What a love bug. I lost all my senior cats in a row the past year and a half. 😢. I have 2 kittens now. One from the shelter and one from the Wal-mart parking lot. Both baby girls. I adore them and look forward to them growing old with me ❤❤

I adopted my oldest cat in Apr 2020. I was looking for the oldest cat they had at PetSmart. I’m a senior & my cats have lived in to their 20s. One lived to 24. Boo was the oldest at 9 yrs. His owner had died. I also adopted a 3 yr old who walked out like she just expected me to take her too.
