God knows best and only gives us what he knows we can handle. We ourselves would be saying nope, no go. God says, "Keep going, I know how much you can do!"
    Been there!

You have accomplished so much in a year, be kind to yourself, this takes time and doing it right to start with will pay dividends in the end. I love, love, love your kitchen........it is amazing. The rooms are so large and roomy and I know that before too long you will be using those other rooms too. I too have lived through a renovation (on a small scale compared to your home) and would not want to do it again. Enjoy your kitchen and all the projects you will accomplish this year. Happy New Year from Newcastle, Australia.

Never apologize for what you accomplish. You're just getting started and the home renovation is a huge thing on its own. I've been there, done that and am doing it over again. I don't have a kitchen myself right now, lol. Home renovations are one of the highest stress inducers in relationships. You're absolutely right about every point that you mentioned. I give the same advice to anyone who thinks that they want to try farm life. I'm skilled in the trades, so I know how bad it is before I get started. My place was built in 1860 so I know exactly what you mean. Keep the faith, do the research to understand what you're doing or get the information to find out. With every completion of a problem, you gain confidence and the ability to predict the how deep the damage goes. Life is full of experiences. Accept its challenges and make it happen.
Accomplish some things without mentioning it to anyone. If she/he should bring up the "unfinished task" that is in fact, actually finished during an argument, you get to reply, "When was the last time you tried it?". They will get angry that you've beaten them but will have no choice but to concede and laugh about how ridiculous the argument is. Every time I did it, I enjoyed it, Her, not so much, lol. You WILL learn patience with a project like this. Farms had the whole family involved with the responsibility of getting things done. It's nice to have animals and a garden, but that's a lot of hours of work each day. You two are just learning what level of expectations you can accomplish. Being self-employed means having to do every nasty, disgusting job there is by yourself in the beginning sometimes as well as dealing with the unexpected. Do the ceilings first where you can. Trim goes on after the drywall. You can get plastic tracks for the windows and then remove the weights and get the insulation in there. In a perfect world, you should reframe around the windows with stud lumber. Those windows are held on by their trim on the outside sheathing. If you add the proper framing "with headers too", If you ever need to replace them, you can do it much easier, and the house will be much more stable. There's also fire code to be concerned with. adding fire blocking in the framing and using the correct color spray foam in the electrical boxes will help you too. Seal up all floor & wall penetrations (wires, pipes) with stainless steel wool, then inject low expansion foam into the wool. You will be stopping drafts and rodents.
To stay motivated, I maintain the vision of the finished product. Obstacles are just more challenges, surprises keep it from being boring, dirt washes off and having a plan A, B & C is a must. Backup systems for everything from appliances, power generators and vehicles to heating systems and emergency/battery backup systems. Carbon Monoxide detectors and smoke detectors are very important at this stage too. Be safe, get one thing done at a time if necessary but keeping a full busy day will get you there sooner.
Good Luck, Godspeed, stay tranquil, be patient with people and events, but above all, don't give up or get negative.
