I work as a mailman where we still walk the mail door to door and I take about 24000 steps a day at work alone and it has been so beneficial for my health
That sounds great!, I wish you a good life.
Every mail man ive ever seen has crazy big calves lol
You make me wanna be a mailman too! I work at home and sit in front of computer all day long. I need to take extra effort and time walking in the morning and evening to reach 20000 steps.
Being a five ft small woman, I just want to be toned not big calves.
@@A-broken-clay-jar then don’t take roids.
It’s crazy that something as simple as walking has changed my life. Currently in the best shape of my life at 37 years old.
Been walking an average of 16,000 steps a day for 18 months and I listen to podcasts on these walks and it's absolutely changed my life
How has it changed your life?
@@imoffendedthatyouroffended5173 lost a tonne of fat and learned a shit load from listening to useful podcasts
16000 steps is no joke
Congratulations man. I try to average 14k - 16k on weekends because thats when I have time outside of work to get my long walks in. Yes I agree walking is amazing, the easiest, cheapest and one of the healthiest a human can do and burns a shit tonne of calories.
That's like a two hour walk. I'm 53 and have to sit and rest my back for 5 minutes after 9000. 10k per day seems to be a good goal for me.
Farming I average 20k-30k steps a day.
At 402 pounds I was only able to walk about 3 minutes but I kept at it and I’ve lost 182 pounds. At 220 pounds I can walk for hours easily.
Hallelujah!
congrats! keep it up!
Nice one 👍 👌 👏
After a long work day, walking the two miles to the gym carrying all my gear and clothing is the best warmup, it really gets your blood flowing and allows you to clear your head.
What about the 2 miles back?
@@bizzzzzzle feels even better I used to walk or run 1 mile to the gym and back
Best part of the day
I love walking. When I lived in China, everyone in the neighborhoods goes outside to move and walk in the evenings. From the young to the old, families, couples, friends, and single people. It’s definitely great after a long day.
I started walking 5 days a week over 2 years ago.... It saved my health and sanity!!
I walk everyday. I cant stop. twice, thrice a day. I cant stop. I realized i was an outdoor person as a child totally. Cycling too
Elliott Hulse has been saying this for years. Walking is so underrated.
The benefits of walking have been scientifically substantiated a long time ago. Elliot Hulse is no stamp of approval. It's funny how UA-cam grifters announce it like they invented the wheel.
So what?
@@Bi0m3ga how did he announce it like he invented it. He's just giving people info, alot of people don't know.
I've been saying it for years too, what's your point?
elliot hulse says a lot of wacky stuff. a broken clock can be be right twice day
I walk everyday morning and night outside 40 min each session. Hot or cold, love being outside getting fresh air and sunlight.
Huge fan of walking. At 6’2”” and 260 pounds It has changed the way I look. 8 miles a day....my pittie loves it too...walking is life

@@Bi0m3ga it’s a great joy seeing nature and experiencing the seasons come and go it really keeps me connected and grounded to the earth. There’s a lot of joy in seeing my pittie pup and her endless curiosity propel her down each path we take. Best of health and best regards....
@@michaelwhittaker5624 I agree wholeheartedly. It's been a huge help in bringing me back from depression. It's also motivated me to start running and working out. Walking by itself elevated me physically and mentally. I have a English Staffy x boxer dog that keeps me on my toes😂

I'm a runner but have been dealing with a few injuries lately so I started walking and I enjoy it way more than I thought I would. Walking cool trails and hills makes it even better imo
Lived in Costa Rica for 5 years. Everything nearby in the neighbourhood. No car necessary. My Fitbit reflects just over 600 miles per year walking. Including walking to and from the gym. The calves are the “second heart”
You know... that sounds kinda silly at first glance, but then you think about the actual heart being at the top of the body, and the calves being at the opposite end, and at least as far as circulation is concerned you may be onto something.
walking everyday changed my life. I went from being a person who didn't walk everyday to being a person who walked everyday
😂
😂😂😂😂
I am walking to my job every morning and back home for 5 miles in total for 11 years not counting walking I do while on the job. Only positive change in my life happens when I don't go to work. On that day I feel great.
Lost 160lbs between 2018 - 2019 and used ONLY walking as cardio. I'll add I've kept it off and added a lot of lean body mass (can see my abs in the right light) 3+ years later. Still walking... I average 13k steps a day. I'm a desk jockey, so that necessitates purposeful walking during my 1 hr lunch and 30 min before I lift (3 on 1 off push/legs/pull).
Been laid up from a major pec tendon tear. 8 weeks post surgery. Got depressed and lost motivation. I needed this video. It’s time to start moving! Thanks guys! 👍🙏🇺🇸
you got it ! how is it going?
@@baseballer21and0 It’s going pretty good. 👍
I work 2 full time jobs, both sedentary work from home computer jobs. I agree, when I make an effort to get out and have a 2 hour walk each day. Those days are much much better
I am of the firm belief that walking everyday is about the best damn thing you can do for your body
I am equally of the firm belief that running especially long-distance is one of the worst things you can do to your body
@@jasonpapai73 can you elaborate?
@@jasonpapai73 I tend to dislike running because A.) It makes me feel like I'm dying inside and B.) It's very high impact and I have a (maybe irrational) fear that long-distance running will ruin my knees. I love brisk walking, it works for me. I get a good two miles in a day while listening to an audiobook or a podcast. Also love swimming as that's low impact and works your whole body.
Running is fun af. I feel like a pussy walking around like an elderly person.
Walking for an hour during my break downtown every working day and sometimes on the weekend for about a year now:
- got way closer to my desired fat percentage,
- felt better mentally
- got me a few dates with women I met walking
- meet people I haven't seen in a while
- less need for other cardio
literally no downsides..
Does it make you hungry?
I do the same thing. I crave my walks now. I love it
@Michael J how so?
@Michael J how should he spend that hour? Browsing 4chan like you?
Nah just spider veins on your ankles from years of standing or walking/ running on hard surfaces.. it’ll even move up to your torso… yeah no down sides at all 👍
Rebounding on a mini trampoline is also beneficial. The lymphatic system is stimulated.
Being a Dog owner can do wonders for your health 👍🚶

Yea you still need rest from that. I started walking everyday and lost a bunch of weight. Started running and started hurting myself. About to go back to walking.
I used walking as most of my pre contest bodybuilding cardio. I did mine fasted first thing in the morning on an empty stomach. I did very well
What were your treadmill setting and for how long??
I’ve fallen in love with walking
From personal experience I can't recommend walking enough.im 5"7 and ballooned 260lbs from 200 because of a back injury(slipped disk) which caused sciatica so I couldn't walk 10mins without sitting down because of the pain.
Then changing my diet, taking up swimming and stretch routines I began to walk further over time.
I tried to walk everyday between 5-10 miles.i did this for about 4months and I am now down to 190lbs and back at work thankfully.walking helped so much once I was able to again.the diet change was a pretty big deal for me aswell though as my fizzy drink and sugar addiction (now looking back) was causing alot of the inflammation in my legs..sugar is the devil and walking is blessing
I recommend walking after meals. There’s supposed to be health benefits and all that but honestly there’s just something very nice and natural feeling about it. I think the dopamine being released by the gut brain also pairs to the activity and I just feel like getting up and moving after eating now.
Yeh also heard Thomas Delaur say walking after carbs will help things...started slowly walking again last 1week feeling much fitter than gym
I think it is not natural, judging from the feeling we feel asleep after a good meal, so if that is the signal I follow that, though I have heard some say what you affirmed, but I go with what our body say.. unless you are talking about light meal.
I work from home, answering the phone at my pc all day with timed breaks. On my worst days I can end up with about 350 steps a day after work, unless I really work at getting steps in. I live in a unit or small flat. I house-sat a large house over Christmas and had often done more than 1000 steps in the morning, just walking between the bedroom, kitchen and office, making coffees etc. Then going outside to water garden and hang washing on line adds more steps. So the size of the place you live in definitely makes a difference to how many steps you will make just living every day.
Yep it will. Funny too, last podcast with Coach Trevor, Coach T mentions he gets people amazing results by giving them basic advice. The fitness industry is rife with misinformation, over information and the quest for novelty that literally destroys the average persons ability to understand the basics.
Couldn't agree more. We're made to be mobile, active creatures, always. Many thousands of years of a tough existence mean we're at our best if we're consistently physically active for life.
I have been working on this and I like to intermittent fast so I am going for the coffee in the morning. I have recently started lifting again and noticed some excessive fat gain. I work around a lot of conditions so I was happy that walking is very welcoming as far as being timid about hard training. I loved it I started by walking an hour and I have toned that back to 30 minutes. In 30 minutes I walk about 1 mile and a quarter. I have noticed fat loss and the biggest help of all sleep support. A recent condition that I am dealing with has seen me struggling with sleep deprivation and the negative effects associated with this condition. I have already made appointments with my doctors about it. I am very happy that I have been able to use this walking tool to relieve some of the hardship that I am going through.
I was 116kg in 2015 I started walk daily about 10 miles. still I am walking about 8 to 10 km daily, my weight is 74kg
I do a 2 mile morning fasted walk 5 - 6 days a week and then go hit the weights later in my day or on off lifting days i usually go do incline treadmill for another couple miles,,
Its 7a time to get walking !!
You’re supposed to do cardio after you lift …. 🤨
@@BobbyHiII I've heard this before myself but I think it depends on your goals really. If your a powerlifter or someone who just wants to build strength you may want to do it after. But for general health for the everyday Joe that just wants to be in shape, I don't think it really matters.
Incline treadmill is so underrated. I make sure to do some myself when I walk.
I need to walk 27 miles every Weekend with gear and combat boots (2 pounds each) for work. (I work in private security). Since I have this job I feel young again. Walking is just key for your health :)
Very good advice. It will change your physic and mental.
It’s interesting that it’s often assumed that everyone who works has an office job, or a job in which they are always sitting. What about the many people who do manual labour? I do 20 hours a week of housecleaning. I’ve been doing it for over 7 years. In my days off, I’m walking in and around my house, cleaning, tidying, mowing the lawn, etc. On top of that, we recently got a dog and now I walk at least a half hour each morning with 1-2 hour walks on the weekends.
Just discovered this channel and I’m loving the content.
8-10k per day for more then 10 years, if I can, do it around nature during sunset or sunrise. I can say my cogintion seems dramatically better if I do it around nature. I can tell the difference in my thought process and how effective it becomes
I do a 5k every day. A 10k seems a little much. Thats like 2 hours of walking every day. Aint not body got time fore dat!
@@BenMJay I cheat and donit at work...Ha! Well now retired but when working yes
At 60 I am recovering from sciatica and struggle to get to 5,000 steps at the moment. My muscles are shrinking in front of my eyes, and I hate it. Looking forward to being able to walk properly and start building strength back - the dog will be happier too 😉
Search for yoga with adriene sciatica video. Super helpful.
*What effects your TESTOSTERONE the most?* I’ve been home all year (less than 1,000 steps daily) sitting at my desk working. *I lost 100lbs on my carnivore diet in 4 months.* (440-340lbs).
My diet is: everything cooked in organic butter - grass fed beef, kangaroo mince, salmon once per week, canned sardines (3-4 per week), egg yolks (cut out egg whites because of avidin), 1 avocado per week, strawberries, blueberries, MCT oil, organic honey, full fat yogurt, full fat milk, and protein shake (no carb).
It’s hard to eat enough calories (I’ve been eating for my goal weight of 265lbs) due to satiation from the meat. *Any specific foods to add?* I want to stay low carbs.
*I think my biggest problem is lack of exercise.* Even when I went to uni at least I caught the bus, walked around campus etc. But working from home makes me even more sedentary.
I've been walking for a long time... Normally I just go for 45 min which happens to be right at 3 miles for me. And it has to be outside - idk why but just walking outside is doing way more then science can explain in terms of fat loss and mental well-being.
Perhaps you are getting vitamin D from the sun when you walk outside, which is why you feel better when you walk outside.
It's the negative ions that we get from being outside, which despite their name are a positive thing. You get them from fresh air
In the Philippines we always walk eventhough we have cars. Short distance places we walk here in America short distance order, needs to be delivered lol
I exceed 12k daily, but I start the day with a weighted vest for my first 5k. Makes all the difference.

Or get a Collie/Aussie shepherd. No chance of being lazy with one of those. Mine gives me the evil snow eye about every four hours! Actually helped me a great deal as I have inflammatory arthritis. Use it or lose it!
10k a day is my minimum. But I’m also a thru hiker and backpacker. Seriously the best thing I’ve done for my physical and mental health
Notice immediate improvement adding daily walks!
I did 7k steps last week. I got lost on my way to the dollar tree. Felt great.
15 years ago when I was younger and was a runner, I would laugh at older people who walk. Now that I am older and got overweight, I started walking daily. 5000 steps, 7000 steps, 10000 steps and now averaging 12000 steps. I lost weight without running. Of course I did 16 hours of fasting daily and watching what I eat and not go over my daily calories of 2000. Getting top 10000 steps in 24 hours feels easier than running for 30 with a bad knee.
It's also mentally refreshing
I went from 208 pounds to 180 pounds in about 3 months of walking 6 miles a day.
Walking ... a gateway exercise😁

i noticed that when i moved out from home during the corona lockdowns and i didn't had the dog to walk anymore :( fucked me up completely. i had no balcony, i had no garden ,i had no dog i just sit inside.
I like to walk at least 15 minutes every day, usually more like 30, and upwards of 1.5 goes on my rest days (from resistance). But when it gets cold out, I tend to hop on a bike in my garage instead. I'm curious to how it compares to walking.
A one hour walk at sunrise is game changing. Then do 20 minutes at dusk for the twilight effect on sleep
Really?
Great vid!!!
I lost over 100 lbs and changed my life just by walking and hiking. It feels so good mentally and physically.
Walking will change your life, and it will change your toes
The way human anatomy works is that we were designed to walk long distances, running is only meant for short term activity. If you look at tribes in Africa when they hunt they will hurt prey with an arrow then track it for miles and miles by walking and following the trail. It is extremely beneficial for cardio vascular health and health in general, if you can't run it's ok you will get there but make sure that you walk for an hour or two straight every single day.
Great informative videos, but those ad breaks midway are super annoying! Better to do it at the end of the video

I walk everyday 30 min on an empty stomach…… seems to work wonders
Same here. Add in two full body strength training days and I am good to go
1000 steps a day is insane. i just checked and my weekends when im stuck inside or not doing anything i averaged about 5500steps. my highest day was 12k and averaged about 10k steps in the last 3 weeks.
Yeah that’s pretty crazy. On my most sedentary days I get like 2500-4000. And that’s full on glued to a videogame denying my bodily needs to eat, drink, piss, etc.
I feel better when I use my recumbent bike, thinking about getting an assault bike, but I feel the calmest when I walk in nature
