The oldest fish I ever had was a black ghost who lived over five years. I had a pair of kissing gouramis who lived a while. One was the only fish I did "surgery" on. It had a worm on one side that I removed by scraping it off with my scalpel. A little Merthiolate on the wound, and he was good to go for a coupla more years. I'm old enough now that I don't want a long-lived fish, as then my family would have to deal with it, and nobody else in the family is an aquarist. Take care. Cheers!

Nice video. Aquarium size, maintenance, community and plant combinations, and genetics all factor. I think also old fashioned luck is involved. My angel and head and tail light tetras were 12 years old. Now trying to beat those records. Be well.

Thanks for making this video. It is helpful information. The oldest fish I kept were three fancy goldfish. They lived 12 and 13 years.

Some fish can live a lot but mostly the saltwater because they can keep it stable
Most inverts on the other hand won’t live more than few months
