    • @rcole4092
      @rcole4092 2 роки тому +5

      Hemi is over twice the dry weight, great engines but the super charger is a better way to go for this application. The V6 supercharged is the perfect balance between flotation and traction. It's a much more balanced rig. If they could get another 100 HP out of that V6 stock without the supercharger it'd be a mastpeice.

    • @6point1hemi

      @@rcole4092 throwing boost on something that experiences a lot of partial throttle driving will shortened the life of the engine. Unless it’s factory boosted of course.

      @@6point1hemi Yeah I get it man, even tearing these down, swapping internals they still can't take it. If you can afford it, these things handle off road really well with the lighter engine in it.

    • @DirtLifestyle
      @DirtLifestyle 2 роки тому +27

      @@rcole4092 I completely agree on the v6 vs v8 argument but that's not at all what im saying. My beef is with these supercharger companies convincing people with no engine building experience to supercharge an engine with a 11.3 compression ratio. You either need to pull a ton of timing, add water meth, run it on ethanol or tune it really rich to combat the pre detonation from boosting a high compression engine.
      Non of these are practical options for people who need to daily these Jeeps so you end up with blown up 3.6 pentistars. OR you end up with a Jeep that performs the same as it did stock because a reasonable tune will basically just exchange spark timing for boost. These engines have to much compression to support forced induction. The super charger companies blame Jeep for the blown up engines but since the supercharger voided your warranty Jeep isn't going to touch it and the customer is now stuck with a great truck that can't drive. I've met a dozen or so people in this exact scenario 3 of which are the owners of 4x4 shops. I hate seeing people get taken advantage of in this way.

    I mentioned this when the RIPP SC was installed and I'll mention it once more - I can pretty much guarantee the misfires on the trail wrecker are from the garbage RIPP coil packs. If it's not that you'd have to check the cams as some gladiators had the wrong lifters installed on the intake cam side. With the valve covers off you would immediately notice severe wear on the affected camshaft. Hope you have a simple fix!

      Mentioned conditioning the engine for boosting myself. Stock engines can only handle boost for so long before shit starts happenin. Hope the new Jeep works out for you. Personally would not buy any vehicle built from the time of COVID til now when the supply chain issues showed up. In order to keep production lines open, too many manufacturers had to resort to buying suspect (possibly counterfeit or lower quality) electronic components or had to do numerous redesigns using different components (whatever was available) so testing was shortened and parts commonality was affected. I know too many people with new vehicles with issues showing up after only a few thousand miles and dealers don't have the parts to fix them.

    I like the look of it now. Gotta say, I'd be more interested in seeing you adventure with this set up than tons and 40s

    My only regret with my Gladiator Rubicon was the color. I like the black but the Army Green was what I really wanted.

    I know what you're going for, if I'm correct you're doing a conversion on the back to a camper on 40's as mentioned and shortening the rear cab for camper that you can add/remove it anytime/leave it on perm.
    Can't wait to see the end results!
    ps, if I'm right, let me know :)

    Damn…. The beast is gone. I’m not a mechanic but I blame that supercharger for its demise.
