Yep. I watch a UA-cam blogger that was visiting a San Fran attraction and left his rental car for like two hours. Came back to a busted window and stolen laptop and many other things. Once everything there is gone, the people that caused this will relocate and most likely be even closer to you!
Nothing left to steal? Are you crazy? Do you have any idea how rich SF is? The reason for all the car break ins and the shoplifting and the smash and grab robberies is because they are being done by organized gangs. They work in teams. They realize they can easily get away with it because there are few if any consequences. Once the politicians and the judicial system-the courts, the DA-get serious about stopping it, then it will change. Or if they don’t, I predict people will more and more start to take the law into their own hands. The way it is now will not go on forever-how it stops is the only question. I am not including the SFPD in my criticism because they would LOVE to do more. But they are understaffed and fed up with people they arrest being released almost immediately, especially by judges who sympathize with criminals more than their victims, as well as various court rulings in the past that, to be fair, make it hard for the judges to be hard on crime. It’s a mess! Btw, I live in San Francisco.
@@someoneout-there2165 My aunt revisited San Francisco after 25 years. They left the (rented) car for one hour, to go see the bridge. Busted window, stole anything valuable.
That's because you were still living in the safe society built by conservatives and conservative values. All of that is gone now and this is what remains.
Hope the pinheads that voted for this are happy with stores closing down in the downtown, but I'm sure they don't care and will gladly bounce to the polls and vote Democrat yet again in the next election !!
It's the citizens fault for electing them over and over and over. It's the citizens vote for screaming defund the police. This is all the people's fault.
I was just there on Friday. We got to SF, went to park in a public parking lot and what does my son and I see? Men pulled up in a car with tinted windows and one jumped out with a ski mask on and looked inside the van. Thankfully, they didn’t see anything and the guy got back in the car and they sped off. This all happened within 30mins of being in SF. The hype is real with # of car break ins. It’s sad
The convenience of shopping from home must also be one of the factors why there are so many closed stores, I suppose. It is convenient for the client and it is convenient for the businessman who does not have to pay rent and only the salaries necessary for the operation of the online sale.
I went to school in SF early 2010's and I remember always being so overwhelmed with how many different stores and restaurants there was everywhere, all the people and music and life. I wanted to just experience it all. So sad most of it is all gone.
So sorry School days are over man real life comes after school, welcome to realistic world be ready to be better person everyday, dont loose hope, just feel the changes
For those that don't know, majority of the footage shown is in the Union Square area in downtown San Francisco. The place to stay away if you are a tourists is the Tenderloin district. Sadly, Tenderloin district (which is next to the Union Square area) has been the hotbed area where the drug addicts, homelessness and crime happens on a daily basis.
Absolutely 100% True!! You made an excellent point!! Thanks for pointing that out too... I was trying to be careful and didn't film the Tenderloin. Maybe I'll make a video about the Tenderloin next time. Be very aware of your surroundings if you ever pass by the Tenderloin! This district is couple blocks north of Civic Center.
Did you mean in instead of is? And yeah hot bed in one area but people travel. By foot, bike, car public transit. If you are in a city with crazies they are not that far.
I stayed at Hilton Parc hotel just a few months ago (April 2023). I believe that is Tenderlion district. I didn't see any crime. There were homeless just like the rest of California. Lots of shoppers and tourists, did I miss something?
Its so sad how i have memories shopping in these stores with my mom when i lived there... We used to love spending the day in thr garment district clothes shopping, eating good food, and enjoing the city. Such a heartbreak

@@user-ho3dk4pg8y I’ve been visiting Chicago once a year for the last 20 years, so I can tell you without a doubt that stores are starting to leave. Anyone can also look it up and see for themselves. You see the same situation in downdown Portland. Store after store has their windows covered with plywood. How can anyone expect a buisness to remain open when a group of people without morals, ethics, or decency are allowed to rob at will anyone or anything they want?
I lived in San Francisco when it was a completely different city. It use to be a pleasure to dress up and go downtown to shop. My grandmother worked at the old City of Paris store accross from Union Square, and my mother worked at Gumps on Post street. All those classic places are now long gone. This is happening in a lot of major cities. I was staying in downtown Chicago a few weeks ago and countless stores that use to be there are gone and still closing. Disney, New York and Company and Urban Outfitters closed during the pandemic. Idk when Marshall Fields closed as well as countless others
Yes, The cities that are demoncrat ran!!!!! While others are growing and prospering like crazy!!! It's not rocket science figuring this out. LOOK at the common denominator in EVERY single city!!!! Just facts, that's all!!!
I live in Los Angeles, in the San Fernando Valley...and very soon, the same thing is going to happen here. Stores are being robbed by mobs, brazenly in the early afternoons. Restaurants are broken into, after hours and robbed. Without enforcement, without containment or deterrents...you get what we have. Decent, law abiding people have to stay contained. And the law breakers are taking over everything and making life hard for everyone else.
How in the name of god could they let this happen to the city. What were they thinking? A great city like San Francisco and you let it go to waste! This is unbelievable and unacceptable! Someone needs to take control!
So true. This is so sad. This was the city of my birth and my family lived across the Bay since the 1940's. My aunt was my last living relative in the Bay area and when she died in October so did my final ties to California. I now live in Washington state and am embarrassed to say that I came from California. Hopefully, Washington will not fall to the same demise
I live in San Diego county, the majors here are trying to get a half million signatures to repeal the proposition 47 which give the criminals a free range to smash and grab the business, other counties in California should do the same thing, together we will take our state back and make it great again.
The democrats want to destroy it and build a 15 min city with zero freedoms. They think they'll take the land for themselves. People in SF need to wake up and stop voting Democrats. Dems are TRAITORS always have been. They HATE AMERICA. They want Americans DEAD.
The rents aren’t so much the issue, with so many empty shop units around it’s actually easier to negotiate better rates but business rates and other costs are the issue and of course on-line shopping which is slowly decimating the high street.
I see this and can't believe the politicians in California have allowed it to get to this point by allowing the kind of crime they have!!!! The amount of tax dollars the state has lost must be staggering! What is their ultimate goal???
Power and control through some form of socialism. They like it when you're dependent on the government for your safety, food, housing, ect. It's not about the money.
For someone who went to high school in SF and worked downtown for many years, I’m so sad to see the City at this state. I will always love this City and will always have fond memories but I’m glad I moved out of CA over 4 years ago. Another sad fact is that most of the people committing crimes don’t even live in SF
What is the average age of the criminals in SF ? We have similar problems over here but here are mostly teenage thugs in gangs the government is useless no idea how to get control of them they break into homes steal cars and often there are police on high speed chases the police do their best it's the judicial system that's failing so sorry about San Fran I loved that city when I visited many years ago always felt safe there hope it gets back to the old days soon

I am so sorry that beautiful downtown SF is going through changes. I have visited SF three times and I loved it! I always made it a point to stay in hotels near the Wharf. I loved Market Street, Union Square, Golden Gate Bridge and park etc. The people that I met in SF were kind and extremely helpful as I am a disabled Army veteran. Since I must rely on my walking cane to assist in walking, when I asked for directions on how to get back to the hotel, all of the cashiers, police officers, cable car operators, tram operators went above and beyond to make sure I was safe. They also walked with me to the area I needed to be in order to get the right transportation back to the hotel. The last year that I visited SF was 2011. That being said, I left my heart in SF and I am grateful to all the kind people who assisted me, an old broad. 😊

Lived near San Francisco in the 80s and hosted my mother and my sister for a few days in the late 80s. Mom was a shopaholic and us kids tagged along as she visited all the huge department stores that someone from a rural, northern Pennsylvania town had only seen in pictures. I always considered San Francisco to be THE MOST COSMOPOLITAN city west of the Mississippi River. How sad that like many once great cities, retail stores have been forced to leave downtown. Retailers are the lifeblood of a city.
40 years later and even some of those small Pennsylvania towns have trader joes and such. I can say this with confidence as someone living in western PA. Guess the western USA is finally starting to fail and the eastern US is finally starting to recover.
Trader Joes ? A chain grocery store ... Ok😂 Trust me, the west is not "falling". Social media isn't the place for economic information either. Enjoy your winter this year and be safe! Or come to Vegas, Santa Barbara, Phoenix.. and enjoy the sunny western days🌴🌞 🍻cheers

I lived in the South Bay area for many years in 80s and 90s and I would take my family to "the City" on day long mini-vacations several times a year. It was always fun and diverse.... beautiful views, good food, culture, shopping, doing touristy stuff. I even had some action, being in the military, in 89 during the earthquake, and collapse at the Bay Bridge. Now, I'm sad to say, I wouldn't consider stepping foot in San Francisco. I've even left California for the same reasons... the stupidity of governance and cost of living in the area.
Who’s crazy enough to open a business in a district where lawlessness is encouraged? There must be a way to fire politician in office that are not doing their job. After all, we the people hired them and paying for their salary. This is madness!😱😱😱

Man-o-man! what a sad sight! Lawlessness NOW rules the day!I was born & raised in the Army-Navy projects. Soon after World War II had ended, the Army & Navy barracks were opened to the low income families, especially families moving from the southern & Eastern regions due to the work opportunities which became available and also allowed other minorities to settle in California, for a BETTER life style, which it did open up, but to see it at its PEAK and now what it has become, man its NOT the fun place that people claimmered for & so wanted to be apart of, so sad. Those were the days my friend I though would never end, but sadly The days have come upon ALL! Short commentary of the place which stimulated MY crazy imagination..
The United States is systematically being destroyed from within with a war based on class envy and hatred of anyone who is successful as the socialist liberal democrats ensure everyone shall suffer equally in their misery created by their hatred of wealth and prosperity.
I have acquaintances that just moved to Illinois. They got tired of having their cars broken into, violent drug users, homeless people.. the law in SF protects the low life’s more than the decent people who struggle for quality of life!
Rochester, NY is starting to have the same problems. Not as many homeless, due to the severe winters, but plenty of abandoned houses filled with squatters, prolific drug use, lots of guns(even children have them)& neighborhoods that not even the police will go into unless they go in numbers. Store personnel have been instructed by management not to apprehend shoplifters, due to gun violence. Therefore, people simply pick up things and walk out - no consequences. Many stores now keep nearly all of their merchandise in locked cases, especially drug stores. Others only allow a handful of people in at any given time - and I mean a handful...like 5. My sister lives on the outskirts, with her son and his wife,& they have a rule that nobody goes anywhere out of the house after dark unaccompanied. Not only that, but he programmed my sister's phone to give an audible warning if she is getting too close to a bad area...and there are more than one. Scary. And the racial hatred is phenomenal. There are even grocery stores you need to avoid; if you are not a person of color, you WILL be harassed,& very possibly attacked outside the store. If you fight back, you can be charged with a hate crime.
I live in Rochester and work downtown. Nothing you said is correct. If you take a walk down main street you'll actually see new restaurants opening. Our grocery stores are fine. Our gun issues resides mostly with gang on gang violence. I have never felt unsafe walking downtown.
Amazon's online business model, the rising cost of rent, along with rampant criminal looting and non punishable crimes have destroyed once great cities. You see vacancies everywhere just like this. It shows how economically depressed we are in America.
When all the stores close it is the beginning of the end ,the glue that keeps everything together starts falling apart and the economy goes down the plughole and people with money start moving out.. Very Sad watching this from Ireland.. Praying for you all and your once Beautiful city.
cost of living is messing up the middle class. it's tough out there if you aren't rich, you are poor, basically. no one can afford rent, there aren't enough well paying jobs, it's really just gonna get worse. rich get richer, poor get fentanyl and overdose.
I am heartbroken. My beloved beautiful San Francisco is gone. Whatever it takes let all the people come together and bring it back to life. My memories can never be taken away of strolling downtown or Fisherman Warfs or any part of the city. 😢

I remember visiting SF in the late 1990s and at that time Market Street was not in a good shape. It was better when I was back in the early 2000s. Now, it appears to have regressed and the contagion has spread to areas around Union Square. Can this all be blamed on the influx of homelessness? Or, it is likely the reduced number of office workers has contributed to the current situation. The homeless likely flowed into areas were office workers use to be found during the day.

I will always love San Francisco but I would not let my kids grow up here in this current state.
Oh. I Left San Francisco right after the quake collapsed the bridge. Before that, though I had been living in The Herbert Hotel on Powell Street about 2 blocks from the Powell Street Turnaround. I was in labor and didn't realize it. We were 7 floors up and the EMT had a hard time finding our room. My son was in a hurry to be born and already half way out when they loaded me into the ambulance to take me to the hospital. This blocked all traffic on Powell Street, and the Cable car was forced to wait for the ambulance to go. I almost called my son Cable but later named him something else
I grew up there. Left about fifteen years ago because I saw what was coming. I went back recently, very sad. The city itself is still beautiful but half the people are snobs with their head in the clouds and other half are so pathetic and lost it might be best to get rid of the lot.
It's always the restaurants, cafes etc, that get hammered first in a downturn but to see key tenants leaving is really unusual. Malls everywhere are getting crappier with more and more cheap stores appearing & other retailers on life support. SF is just the extreme example of these trends.
I use to stay in Inner Sunset in 2011. I use to take the N-Judah to my gaming job at Townsend and 3rd. That company and others closed down as the renting rates went up. Surprisingly, the comic book shop where i use to stay is still open.

There’s almost nothing left to steal in SF. That must be why tourist car break-ins, and armed robberies are so prevalent.

I still can’t believe people would sabotage themselves like this….
cost of living is messing up the middle class. it's tough out there if you aren't rich, you are poor, basically. no one can afford rent, there aren't enough well paying jobs, it's really just gonna get worse. rich get richer, poor get fentanyl and overdose.
commies all
I am heartbroken. My beloved beautiful San Francisco is gone. Whatever it takes let all the people come together and bring it back to life. My memories can never be taken away of strolling downtown or Fisherman Warfs or any part of the city. 😢
Maybe not you but the liberal residents voted for this shower of DemocRAT clowns. It’s been going downhill since the place became a refuge for all sorts of cooks, weirdos, commies, liberals, every minority special interest group you could think of gravitated there since 1967. They’re now the majority, SF is dead.
I hope every store isn't closed ive been to San Francisco in ,2004 very Beautiful lots of life
I used to go to that AT&T store and that mall whenever we visited SF from overseas. Last time we were there was 2017 and my wife just felt the homeless prob was getting too much for her year by year, so we travel thru LAX now and stay in the far suburbs. It’s sad to see these places empty, it was a bustling place not that long ago. This looks like lockdown conditions from the pandemic. So sad.
It is very sad
You're right 😢
or PLAN-demic... LOL
Next time go to San Diego. It is the best large city in California by far.
@@norwegianblue2017West LA is still okay (Beverly Hills, Santa Monica, Hollywood, Malibu, even some parts in DTLA), and OC (Newport, Laguna, Huntington, Irvine)
@@danielr3661 OC is fine. But Santa Monica, Hollywood and DTLA sucks now IMO.
My last time visiting San Francisco was in 1987, i went back to lake Tahoe to ski in 2003, but never did the drive back to San Fran and wouldn't go now.
This is so sad. I lived in San Francisco from 1982-89. It was vibrant, clean, safe, and fun. I would not even visit there now.
I am blessed I have lived in my neighborhood Inner Sunset that I moved to from Portland, OR in 94 living 3 doors from GGP. Just saying not ALL of SF is in trouble
I was watching Dirty Harry the other day and realized the coddling of the criminals began right here in San Francicko. How could anyone have predicted this!
We got married in San Fran 2017 downtown. We flew in forty people for the wedding. All of us were shocked how disgusting this town is.
Lmao best wedding ever. Imaging being a muritard living in murica and not marrying on the niagara falls

Hey!,I remember that one...,yeah,...and oh hey!,remember the drunk fat chic that took on all the caterers in the back....,man she was hotttt!...,and oh yeah...how about that "live" DONKEY show?,....that old woman knew how to throw a party...
When criminals go unpunished or the law accepts bribes against charges .that is what happens to a nation
,Yea same as When corrupt Democrat politicians who are to Blame for this go unpunished as elections are manipulated.
Ukraine is safer than San Francisco and the standard of living is much better. $150 Billion + to Ukraine.
I’m so grateful to have lived there when I did. 18 amazing years in what was the best city on the planet. I cannot believe what’s happened.
SELF-Destruction Seems to be the trend nowadays.
What do you expect for businesses that want to inflate their prices I can remember when a pair of pants we're no more than $5 now there over $25 or more depending on where you go and now you wonder why the businesses are going out of business they're putting themselves out of business with the inflated prices
It’s called “build back better”!!
Good to see an free thinker. This is all deliberate.
Amen to that... but they still vote for them. It's called brainwashing
Thank you for doing these videos, otherwise we would never know what is going on.
Yea, My pleasure!! A video is worth a million words 😊
@@NomadSoloTravel This video definitely open my eyes
The company my son works for we’re having a meeting about where to have a corporate convention/meeting. people in the group were suggesting cities. When San Francisco was mentioned, most of the people in the room got a chuckle out of that. The person at the Mic Said “I’ll take that as a no “
I used to live there from 08 to about 2014. It was still a decent place by the time I left. Sad, I have so many amazing memories there.
Only missing are tumble weeds, dust with some 40-mph wind gusts, wyatt earp, also doc holiday trotting through.
Yes thar eerie ghost town look the kind of quiet thar people warned during the early days of the pandemic would break people it's like solitary confinement nothing like quiet to break people even with phones in hands imagine if covid happened pre internet scary as f..k.
And some harmonica music in the background.
I was still living on the Coastside up until 2007. Christmas of 2006, I was raising one of my two godsons. We went up to the Embarcadero to ice-skate, went to Union Square to check out the decorations, went up to the Starlight Room overlooking the square and Macy's, had hot chocolate and chocolate dipped strawberries. Then went to the Harris Restaurant on Van Ness for dinner! Only a memory now! 😢
Reminds me a lot of the last time I was in downtown Minneapolis. So sad to miss all those business owners & employees we used to know & enjoy.
I was born and raised in this city.. it's so heartbreaking to see it become a shadow of what it once was.. growing up 24th and mission was always THE hotspot for socialization food and shopping for Latinos and now it's filled with junkies who either try to sell their stolen crap to you or are shooting themselves up in broad daylight.. I will always love San Francisco but I would not let my kids grow up here in this current state.
How did it get this way? Do you know?
@@degrelleholt6314 sure just keep voting Democrats over and over
Too liberal?
Didnt realize it?
I grew up there. Left about fifteen years ago because I saw what was coming. I went back recently, very sad. The city itself is still beautiful but half the people are snobs with their head in the clouds and other half are so pathetic and lost it might be best to get rid of the lot.
Thanks for sharing
It's always the restaurants, cafes etc, that get hammered first in a downturn but to see key tenants leaving is really unusual. Malls everywhere are getting crappier with more and more cheap stores appearing & other retailers on life support. SF is just the extreme example of these trends.
What a damn shame. I lived in SF during the 1980s and other than the louse summer weather it was a fabulous place to reside.
I use to stay in Inner Sunset in 2011. I use to take the N-Judah to my gaming job at Townsend and 3rd. That company and others closed down as the renting rates went up. Surprisingly, the comic book shop where i use to stay is still open.
