- Come along as I sew a birthday dress for my 30th! I liked how the first one turned out so much, I sewed another one in a blue/green woven fabric. I'm sharing a verse that has been meaningful to me this year, Habakkuk 3:17-19.
What is currently bringing you joy in this season?
Betty Dress Square Neckline: rooneyclothing.com/products/b...
(I changed the length of the bodice, sleeves, and top tier for this dress)
Mocha Diamond Stitched Fabric: Sold out. Originally from Cottoneer Fabrics.
Blue/Green Dobby Stitch Woven Fabric: www.cottoneerfabrics.com/prod...
Habakkuk 3:17-19
"Though the fig tree should not blossom,
nor fruit be on the vines,
the produce of the olive fail
and the fields yield no food,
the flock be cut off from the fold
and there be no herd in the stalls,
18 yet I will rejoice in the Lord;
I will take joy in the God of my salvation.
19 God, the Lord, is my strength;
he makes my feet like the deer’s;
he makes me tread on my high places." - Навчання та стиль
Now I really want to hear -- what is bringing you joy currently? Oftentimes, the smallest things bring the most joy!
Flowers blooming
Picking enough green beans for a meal and then extra! But I also get much joy from sewing a variety of things.
My children
I prefer the khaki/green one. What brings joy is that there are still young people like you being spiritual and with values.
Oh, you are kind!
It's easy to wait for the big occasions and celebrations to come along in life to feel joy , but I remind myself everyday that there are so many little things right here everyday that bring me joy..every moment spent with my son, my cat, in my garden or at my sewing machine creating. I am grateful for life, for my home, food, clothes, sun, rain, flowers, seasons, children, animals... I appreciate all that I have and in turn that gratefulness brings joy. Thank you for asking and reminding me today. By the way I love the green dress on you!
Beautiful perspective, Evelyn! What lovely words.
And thank you so much!
Creating brings me joy. Bring joy to others brings me joy. Nature brings me joy. This video brought me joy! Thank you! 🦋
Oh thank you!! And I love hearing what brings you joy :)
One of my DAILY confessions is "this is the day that the LORD has made I will (make a conscious effort) to rejoice and be glad in it". Thank you for your video both dresses are lovely 🌹
Love this, Sharon! Thank you for sharing :)
What is bringing me joy currently is peace that has come from finding my way back to creating things. My favorite childhood memories are from spending time with my grandma learning sew and crochet. I hadn’t done any of that in years so your videos are also bringing me joy. They remind me of those happy times and help refresh the skills she found so much joy in sharing with me.
Love the blue one ❤ What brings me joy is hearing one of my three grand babies call my name ❤
How blessed are they to have you!
They are both very beautiful!! Thank you for taking us and God along on the journey!! God Bless.
Thank you Barbara!
Thank you for your videos. You look lovely in both dresses. I so enjoyed the bible verses at the start. Have a wonderful birthday.🌿
Thank you, Michele!
Thank you for asking what is bringing me joy. While I don’t see much fruit on the vine I rejoice in that God is my strength and my song today. ♥️
Lovely words. Thank you for sharing!
Hi, I am new to your channel. I just received the printed Ada Lounge Set pattern in the mailbox. What brings me joy each day is spending time reading The Bible and journaling what God is teaching me through His Word. I usually save my sewing projects for the summer months because I have another commitment to the Lord during the other 9 months of the year. I love gardening, sewing, quilting, knitting and crocheting, spending time with family and friends. The verses in Habakkuk have been the focus verses this year during a Bible Study I attend during the 9 months mentioned above. I’ve started refurnishing some antique furniture and switch back and forth between that project and the Ada Lounge Set. The pattern is very simple and easy to follow. These are just a few of the gifts God has given that bring me much joy.
Thank you sweetheart for your verses from Habbukuk. I received not only joy from your reading but peace in my heart. My husband is not a believer in Our Lord and our caravan completely burned up last week. This has ended our plans for seeing first hand how beautiful Australia has been created. I came in to our bedroom with a cup of tea and saw your new feed and as I would like to attempt to teach myself to sew clicked on to it. Thank you my angel for your words from Our Lord.
I am so sorry to hear about your caravan loss. I am praying for restoration!
You encouraged me at a time when I was sad and lost and your words from Habbukuk were exactly what I needed. Thank you my darling. Our Lord who made us and saw us, even in the womb, knows exactly what each of us needs. May Jehovah be with you and your beautiful family and loved ones. ❤
I was so refreshed by you reading these verses…thank you so much! I enjoyed the little moments with our youngest- our daughter of 9 years- she loves to cuddle with me and I have to thank the lord: she had a runny nose and sore throat yesterday and this Norman’s very anxious because on Wednesday she will be going to a school trip and feared being sick… so we prayed and this evening she already felt quite okay 😊
I love hearing about these sweet moments. Thank you for sharing!
Both are beautiful
Thank you Susan!
Both are beautiful.
Thank you!
Beautiful, you will enjoy those lovely dresses forever and they will get better with age just as we do. Happy belated birthday 🎂
Aw thank you so much!
love both but brown one is my fave
Thank you, Bev!
Loved this, my new favorite video of yours. For me, the things bringing me joy is enjoying the art of sourdough baking and the abundance of eggs my chickens are providing this season.
How special that your chickens are giving you an abundance of eggs! Sounds like a lot of joy to me :)
You are precious. 🥰 Thank you for sharing your gifts with us. I teach sewing and mixed media art to children but I've never had the confidence to do clothing. (Watching your tutorial is what gives me joy.) Thank you!
Thank you for the kind words, Lauren. I feel like with your artistic background, sewing would be a natural thing for you!
@@RooneySewingPatterns I'm gonna try! ❤️🙏🏼
i looove your wearing style. that's it.
you are kind, thank you!
And both very beautiful dresses!!
Thank you Astrud!
Hii... Shiva from India... I stitched it for my sis n she is super happy after wearing it 😍 Thanks 👍🏻
How sweet! I love hearing that :)
Love the brown one.
Thank you Debbie!
Yes, REJOICE in the Lord! Habakkuk to Philippians! Think on these things! Hallelujah! Rejoice! ❤🦋🙏
Yes! Love those verses too :)
Love them both. What a cute pattern
Thank you Brenda!
I needed the reminder that even though things look bleak, unfruitful and unproductive that I should rejoice in the Lord.... I've been waiting on him for many many years to change and restore my life and it's been very difficult to stay positive but this scripture really hit home! Both dresses are great and you're a very inspiring and encouraging woman 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩 thanks 👍
I like your style sooo much! Both of the dresses are just gorgeous!
Aw thank you, Ksenia!
Lovely video. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you! :)
Love the texture of the brown fabric, but both colors are beautiful! Happy birthday!
Thank you Amy-Rose! I do love that texture so much!
Какая Вы умничка!!! 👍👍👍Вашей работой можно любоваться и любоваться❤❤❤Вокруг такая красота и нежность🕊️💗🕊️💗
Woooow beautiful
Thank you!
I love the green so much!! You are talented and your content is a gift! I had a goal to learn how to sew my own clothes by the end of the year, as i recieved a machine for Christmas. I felt so overwhelmed that I didn't pull it out until a few weeks ago. Using your patterns and tutorials I finished my first real project and feel so much more confident after just one week! It feels so good to see a piece that I love and instead of feeling to need to impulse buy, i just think "I could probably make that!"
Oh wow, that's a great goal! I love hearing that I can help in any small way :) And I totally agree about the impulse buying. What a gift to have a new perspective instead!
Belated happy 30th birthday wishes! I think both dresses are beautiful. Our 7 month old granddaughter Ruby-Rose is bringing me so much joy! Xx
Oh thank you, Jo! You are kind. I love hearing your granddaughter is bringing you so much joy :)
I like both of your dresses but I personally prefer the brown one only because that is in my color palette. You do very nice work.
What brings me joy currently is the gratefulness I feel in my current season of life. I recently retired and am now able to do more of what I love on a daily basis including all different types of crafts and the ability to be there for my grown children and the recent addition of a first grandchild.
Sending peace to you and your viewers!! ✌️
Thank you, Judith! Congratulations on your retirement. It sounds like you are embracing it and I love hearing that you are finding joy in this season :)
I love that cream top you are wearing in the end part of the video. You should make a pattern for something like that! I’m in the middle of making my first dress from your Betty pattern
Hey thanks! That is a sweatshirt I found at a boutique in Florida. You're right, I should make something like it because I wear it constantly :)
And I love hearing you're making your first Betty Dress... How fun!
Amen!!!
thanks for watching, Lynette!
Very pretty 😀
thank you so much!
What brings me joy is no matter what my interests, the Lord always leads me to other believers. I prefer the brown but they are both beautifully made.
Oh thank you! And thank you for sharing your joy with us :)
Happy Birthday ❤ i love the mocha brown one, the fabrik looks so beautiful...i'm a bit sad, that it is not avaibabl now...but i have enough fabrik here to sew! 😅
Oh thank you, Janina! It is such a beautiful fabric :)
Cottoneer fabrics is my all time favorite place to shop for fabrics online. Their shop is filled with stunning yarn dyed fabrics with beautiful texture. It makes me so happy to see them here in a sewing video! They are definitely my special occasion fabric source. 😍
I think I’ve even bought that blue dobby one you chose. I made baby footie pajamas out of it for a friend. Sewed it all by hand too because I didn’t have a machine. Lol! That was so fun!!
I'm so glad to know you love Cottoneer! What a wonderful selection they have, I'm a fan :)
I am impressed you sewed it by hand! Now that is love!
Great video 🌷🌱🌳🌺🌵🏵
Hey, thank you!
I just recently discovered your channel and it is delightful! I LOVE that you share your Faith! I have two young Granddaughters, Chloe 12 and Noelle 10 who I share your videos with them. I am planning to spend time this summer sewing with them. Thank you for your gentleness and encouragement to try this and be in the moment.
Oh I appreciate you saying that, Sherrill!
How special that your granddaughters will have this special time with you :)
Can you do a tutorial to make a peasant blouse? That would be beautiful 😄
Oh that's a great idea!
My cat VoVo brings me joy. I think God made her just for me. She brings joy to my carers as well as my neighbours.
I love hearing that! Thank you for sharing :)
I would love to have this dress in a pattern. I know you said you used the Betty dress and the alterations you used. But as a beginner it would be amazing to be able to buy this pattern. 😅
i'd like to learn how to sew the skeeves ❤
I love them both! ❤
Thank you! :)
beautiful fabric on sale, excites me. My Layla's sweet face 1st thing in the morning
Love hearing that, Rhonda!
I love both of the dresses ❤
Thank you so much!
I really like the final result! Well done! 👏
Thank you so much :)
❤
Learning to make my own clothes that will fit my shape is very hard to find clothes plus I am only 4ft9inches tall
Hi Charlotte, what a great thing to learn to make clothes that fit your body, I know that clothing that fits can feel like a big confidence boost!
Beautiful video! Curious about the gathers- in patterns I’ve used so far, they’ve told me to use 2 rows of gathers and I’ve struggled with sewing the second one straight. Does it always work to just do one row of gathering stitches or is it pattern specific?
Great question, Sarah!
Sewing two rows is a great idea. Sometimes I skip this part but it really does help in making the strings strong enough so they don't break while gathering. I definitely do this with thicker and more woven fabrics like linen (I'm sewing cotton here).
Usually, I've found its all based on the fabric. I was sewing some cotton bedsheets the other day and the usual gathering method wasn't working. I used a zig-zag stitch over a string and it worked great. If you have trouble gathering, try a new method :)
And I want to know what are the types of sewing machine do you use
I use a Babylock Grace sewing machine and a Brother 1034D Serger :)
What is the scissors that you have used?? Can I get a link for this or simply the name would do ❤
These are LDH scissors - they’re amazing ☺️🤍
How can I find the pattern?
