As a learner, i.e. a bit slow, I've played in quiet settings with 'conventional' cymbals but played with ProMark rods. The audience ( any more than one person counts as an audience ) hasn't complained that they were unable to ignore the drumming. I suppose the advantage of using rods is that, were I to do a large noisy event, i.e. five or more drunken people, I could switch to sticks.
As rods tend to break easily I now use them sawn down when the tips break off.
Great review and sublime playing, as usual. I like the cymbals but they really are too special for the likes of me.

I bought the 20" K Custom Dry Ride and 19" Rarities K custom Special Dry Crash/Ride years ago and was really happy that they have expanded the line recently. I now have the 16 & 18 crashes and the 21" Ride from the new line and I love them. I find that they work really well in a lot of different settings, particularly quieter settings where the bright wash of more conventional sounding cymbals can be too much.
The FX cymbal is cool, but it's a bit much for my playing style. The hats are nice as well, though I found that the "chick sound when played with the foot is a bit thin and weak for my liking and I never really felt like my hi hats weren't "dry" enough.

I’ve not been impressed with either Zildjian or Sabian for quite a few years now..... my favorites are Istanbul Agop. Always a pleasure watching your videos!

I have 21" ride, 16 and 18" crashes and 14 hats. I did try a selection of these and they do really vary from cymbal to cymbal in pitch and volume. The ones I selected are all of a reasonable volume and do blend with my K 17" bright crash and 17" HHX Effects and 18" HHX Ozone very well. If you have more traditional sounding cymbals then I would agree they would not blend well.

I got this exact ride in a trade and didn’t like it at first. Sounded like an expensive trash can lid. But as I used it on small acoustic club gigs, it really showed its worth.
Nollie is spot on when he said these won’t fare well against traditional set cymbal set ups. They don’t at all. But they’re great for subtle needs and fit right in.

Really like the crashes and hats and use a 20 alongside a set of 15 hats and they blend in really well with other k dark and sweet crashes as well as a 22a custom ride that shouldn't really work together!

I think the hats are outstanding. I have the box set 14/21/18/16 as well as the 21 trash crash. Honestly I don’t like using them together as a set, I just don’t like the crashes as main crashes. But I’ve mixed the 18 with my other K cymbals and it works great as an accent crash in place of a China or FX cymbal. The 16 is so quick it can practically take the place of a splash.

The Trash Crash was easily my favorite sound in the group; the bow on the ride was also great to the ears but that bell as you said kinda lacks, great for jazz though.. the hi-hat and crash, sounds pretty meh to me, but I love how the cymbal pack was put through multiple tests.. Nice review!

What I find funny with these kinds of cymbals, particularly when used in busy rock arrangements, is that they just end up boosting the mids in the overheads about 15dB to get them to be even audible :)

I use the 17" Trash Crash for certain accents I need when on tour. It provides a great trashy response with quick decay. Perfect for some of the effects I need. I love this cymbal and it compliments my other fx cymbal, my 16" A custom FX which has alot more volume and a longer sustaine. A beautiful cymbal.

Apart from the hats those are dustbin lids for richkids.

These cymbals have to actually be played rather than just being pounded on. This demo doesn't do the line any justice. I've got a full set that I mix in with my K sweets, darks, and custom darks. They're very honest cymbals; you get out of them what you put in.

Have you ever thought to review some handcrafted turkysh cymbals? For example Istanbul (mehmet and agop), bosphorus or soultone?

This sounds good as a full set. I thought each piece on its own was a little dry. Have the hats.

The 19 sounds a lot like glass breaking! Does it cut through with live rock music?

Fair reveiw. I like their sound but for some reason i can't stand the look of cymbals with a bunch of holes in them. Just one hole please.
