Fitness is such a vague and complicated topic. My recommendation for beginners is to not overthink it, like what Bm said. Pressuring yourself to get fit and know what you need and stuff is only going to go hinder you. That means controlling your diet, exercising this and that, planning too much-that's too much for us to handle. Thus only giving us more stress, struggles in keeping up, and can be demotivating. I love that you shared your experience regarding such a topic and how it turned out. I feel like many people just stop pursuing fitness because they only saw the information heavy, complicated, and harder aspects of it. But people should really not think about doing everything right the first time, but simply try it and modify it along the way. When I was also in high school, I struggled in the same way, I was super worried about eating too many calories, not eating enough greens, not getting enough protein. But instead of being enlightened for knowing, it only sent me down a path of despair and disgust for myself. Which is why I want to remind everyone who's still young to not stress it too much, your diet, unless it's really bad like too much junk food or if you have any medical conditions that need specific stuff, shouldn't be controlled as much since your body is still young and magic. Simply exercising every now and then such as walks, dancing, beginner level workout routines-it's enough. As you grow up and when you're capable of handling what you eat, then you should consider eating and getting more of specific food groups. The same goes for what exercise or routines you follow, thinking about it too much won't really help, as well as having too much expectation for yourself. We gotta start at the bottom and go from there, ykyk. Basically, you need to just focus on what you can do right now. Even if what you're doing is wrong, just correct it when you are capable enough. But while you're still new at it, don't be afraid that you're making a mistake, that's what being new means-we make mistakes and learn to be experienced. While you're at it, like Bm said, try not to compare too much. I would say comparing is bad, but it's also necessary, so that we know what we need to work on more. I'm just saying this because this is what worked for me, it may not work for everyone, but some of you may use some of my strategies and create one that is more suited for yourself. But yeah, I digress, sorry for the late comment yapping, hahaha! Great video as always, Bm!!! Looking forward to the next Bm break! 💯
I found listening to dietitians a waste of time, as for supplements I found them to be nothing but a waste of money. What helped me was staying away from processed food. It means preparing meals from scratch, but it can be fun to do so, I’m just careful with what food I eat. So long as I don’t go overboard on calories, I find I pretty healthy. As for exercise, I only ever walk or do light exercise. Yet I’m considered to be fit. I think society has set the benchmark, that if one doesn’t look, act or be a certain way, then it see one as failing. The problem is magnified by impossible benchmarks to achieve, which lead to feeling undervalued, under achieving and much more. My take is to be yourself, if people can’t except who you are, it’s their loss. Great episode!! I look forward to the next one
I got so excited when you mentioned cheerleading!!! I started at my school this year and I haven’t been doing it long but it’s really fun. Great video! ^_^
