The Bloke just because a player is better than you /= elitist. Also its not that, many people have fun through challenging themselves and getting better.
lakie92 oh no thats not what im saying at all i dont care if someones better than me i dont see the game as a compettition im not competitive at all lol a wins a win just don't be the guy whos all high and mighty with your parcer
I come back and watch this guide every once in a while, every time I feel I learned something new, because I can understand more of these tips by linking to the experience I gained during the progression of that period
I gotta say this is probably the best guide I have ever seen for any mmo and your not afraid to tell the viewer "you're an idiot if". I actually learned a few things, unlike some others who had videos of "hurr durr, this be my button layout and I do Savage." Meanwhile said player has marcos with like 6 commands going off at once crippling the living hell out of anyone do anything after reaching level cap. I felt something was off when I played DRK and WAR and made some adjustments via these videos, I even had questions answered before I could ask them!
yeah man, your videos they kinda made me feel like I was having a pep talk with myself. All this stuff you have listed I been trying to work out on a controller in a nice flow and I got to admit it gets quite channeling to the point of needing some marcos to get the job done.
My compliments for this presentation. So mature and into the point. Ty for this. As a young warrior this presentation seems to be very usefull for me.Good job here!
As a Paladin, I'm very envious on how much this class stands on a league of its own compared to other tanks. Warriors are being compared as standard dps and sight on these glorious bastards piss me off. Congrats on the buffs
Why am I still watching this video with full attention when the game doesn't even work this way anymore? Regardless, this is a fantastic guide. As tank main, I wish I had played FFXIV back in Heavensward when tanking looks so interesting compared to today (6.4).
Exciting to see that my adjustment to Heavensward as a Warrior closely mirrors what you're talking about in your video Xenosys. This class is so awesome. Every day I can push myself to a higher skill level and compete with DPS players while mitigating damage :D
I've taken Drk to 60 and hit mid-tier raiding but this extremely comprehensive guide has convinced me to get War up there as well. Will definitely be using this as a constant reference. Thanks for the hard work!
Fantastic Guide as always Xenosys. Though I don't personally play Warrior it is nice enough to see someone who is as deeply connected to helping other players do as well as they possibly can as you have been; both now and in your 2.XX guides. Keep it up
Glad to see a WoW player who doesn't think this game works the same as it, because it doesn't. Yeah, a common misconception of vet WoW players when transfering from that game to this one, is they think, "I've played World of Warcraft. I bet this game is exactly like it and hardly differs at all." Then they wonder why they get kicked from duties at endgame...lol. I had someone who was a vet WoW player try to call me a scrub in the game for not using "WoW Strats" in this game. I simply replied, "This isn't WoW. They are not the same. If you want WoW, then gtfo." They were a tank and were taking INSANE amounts of damage. Like, not just a lot, but A LOT of damage to the point where I couldn't even DPS.(I main in SCH, btw) And he was like, "Why aren't you dpsing?!" and at that moment I just *facepalm* and reply, "I would if you didn't take so much damage and actually knew how to use your CD's! He was completely oblivious to the fact that he was in a different MMO and it doesn't always necessarily work the same way as WoW. Sorry for rambling, just thought I should share that rather funny story, atleast it was to me, lol.
I have been playing FF14 since August of this year and knew, before starting the game, that i wanted to tank. I stared off Paladin tanking and just recently discovered Warriors, and let's just say I knew from that point I was meant to wield an axe. Ever since watching this video, I have been able to unlock even more of my potential as a WAR tank and look forward to more info coming down the pipeline. Keep up the good work Xeno!
Great job on the good work Xeno. Every so often I come back to this video to remind myself of the viking mentality. It is only now I realized it wil optimize DPS to hold off internal release in the off and main tank opener to line up it's cool down with Berserk. Started the game in Summer and mained warrior ever since and loved it. Your videos have been awesome providing the groundwork of my playstyle.
Hey man.. Ive been waiting for your guide for quite a while since your last warrior guide.. I would like to thank you for the time and effort making this guide. The last guide helped a lot and this one is even better!! Keep up the good work!! Huge thanks again..
Great video, extremely informative than the other videos I've seen, I was hoping to use this method with my GLD (stat only not the skills obviously) but further watching your video I see that it will not work for GLD and so I become a warrior, Thank you, this video is very much needed for noobs like me.
+CaptCondon I honestly never run into a situation where I need to triple decimate...the mobs are long gone by the time of that 3rd one, unless, I'm soloing A2S?
Bruh the nostalgia i got into gordias cause of this guide. I miss heavensward and (to a slightly lesser extend unless we're talking about pld) stormblood tanking. If tanking becomes any more braindead in 6.0 im going dps feelsbad
Hello, Xenos. Started playin this game a few days ago and I picked a Marauder/War because I always liked plate wearer and melee dps classes (played ret Paladin, Unholy Death Knight and Fury/Arms Warrior in WoW). Looks like I picked the class with the most difficult, fun and rewarding mechanic in this game, in pair with Ninja (all I know is from the reviews I readed). Btw I want to congratz you, this is one of the most in-depths guides I've ever seen in my life and I play MMOs since '00. Hope to see more contents published by you on the future so I can polish my gameplay. :D Peace, man.
Remember when the game actually had depth? Different approaches with the same kit, with pros and cons that could be heavily manipulated to your advantage. A risk VS. reward factor. A skill ceiling so high that a tank could do more damage than the average DPS. A real factor of minmaxing and customization.
wow i cant even believe i watched the full video xD nice job really good information AND entertaining actually :D i tend to lose focus on long guides but i was srsly interested the whole time and had even fun!! xD nice video xeno
Awesome video! I've been playing warrior for a while but never thought to do some things you suggest in the video. Definitely a great video to watch after taking some time away from the game. Also great insight into understanding the stance dance and when/where/how it is utilized. Cheers!
Thanks for all the help Xeno, I really learned a lot from your guides. Idk if you remember but I ran normal Alex with your alt about a month back. I didn't think it was actually you at the time but when I saw your stream yesterday I realized it was lmao.
Dude, I am maining WHM but hell, I wish I would main war play it like you do. Probably the best war I have yet seen in this game, too bad I am on a different server I'd give you a greeting lol.
Thank you soo much for your video. I definitely need to prioritize using berserk. I had only used it to build stacks, so yes, I am a average tank, and playing the Warrior all wrong. Thank you!!
And don't worry, I did account for the new content patch. 3.2 and such. I was just looking for insight how to be a better Warrior. I'm underperforming. But now I know what I was doing wrong. Not using Berserk enough, and totally avoiding it because of the nasty debuff it leaves after it wears off.
Wow. I thought i was a reasonably okish Warrior. How wrong was I! Right, back to the drawing board. Awesome video and epic tips. Thank you for the guide!
Just recently I've decided to main Warrior as my tank, because I love the idea of "Gain hate, then DPS the heck out of my enemy as a Tank". As I played Warrior without a guide, mostly in POTD I learn many, many mixups and I fell in love with the class. Your guide shall be my guiding light to eventually master the stance dancing and become the ultimate tank ^_^
I finally found my muse! After almost a year in FF as solely a tank (WAR & DRK[52]), I finally started raiding a couple weeks ago. This video is going to be great to review and advance skills I have been mastering. PARRY focused meals aren't ideal for raiding. Looks like DET and CRIT if anything. Kudos to you, adventurer. /bow
Thx for this awsome guide. I changed my main class from BLM to WAR since Heavensward and its a lot of fun. But i am not self confident enough going full STR at the moment but i am working on it. :) But Dark Knight is pretty fun to. Right now i am pretty torn between this to classes. Are you planning any DRK Guide in the future?
Thanks for the advice. I just recently got my war to I209 and im gonna practice stance dancing and the rotations that you talked about. My main job is sch and I fairy swap when needed so the stance dancing thing is like a reminder.
Would like to point something out in your OT opener. For the last part, if you did Heavy swing > Fell cleave > Infuriate + Brutal Swing > Fell cleave > maim instead of placing brutal swing after your second fell cleave you essentially get a free 10% crit from the abandon stacks on that brutal swing.
genbowl Yea i try to squeeze it in when i can but sometimes my ping/skillspeed wont allow it. I wanted to display it as the safer way, given the huge differences in people connection, I can safe say though that with selene I never have a problem hitting it :D
hey xenosys just wanted to say you're an amazing warrior. watching your videos made me not completely suck at tanking. that said I was wondering if you're ever going to a dark knight video as you once did for paladin. don't get me wrong warrior is fun but I like day knight more but sadly I have nothing to go on but people doing parodies of the class. if someone like you did a video I'd atleast have someone credible to go off of
Can't thank you enough for the time and effort put onto this guide. It's improved my tanking capabilities as a warrior 120% Do you ever plan on doing a DRK guide by any chance? Also your Pally guide was legit as well. I encourage any aspiring tanks to come to these guides. :)
loved using these pointers back when I used to play ff14. In a nutshell, other tanks need to ask the warrior permission for a turn at aggroing the boss, if the warrior says no, that's final
so Xeno, I've started to play WAR and I can't tell you how much your guide has helped, I'm usually the highest damage in every DF instance even while Main tanking, and I gotta say I've learned to love the amazing utility the warrior class has. With this in mind, I have two little questions that I would like to ask you: 1. Should you try to keep the highest possible uptime on fracture? Because I see in some clips that you skip it a lot of times. 2. Is it more worthwhile to immediately convert 5 stacks of deliverance into a Fell Cleave or is it better to save them to pair with IR/Zerk etc? Thanks again for an amazing guide, cheers! o/
+MatuShazz Hey Mat thats badass man! I always try and reapply fracture when i can unless it wont tick for the full duration or im holding it for a couple of gcd's to line it up with zerk. and always convert stacks into FC unless you are like 2 or less gcds from zerk. just save them so you can zerk triple fc right when it comes off cd. at least thats what i try and do haha
thanks again for the great guide Xeno. I was wondering if you were going to make a 3.0 version and YOU DELIVERED. I have one question. It feels petty, but here goes. In your rotation at 33:50, can you reslot that first brutal swing to be between the first eye > heavy swing? I know it just hurts the soul to hold it that long but that way you get your maim on it... plus you can reuse it during pacification. your thoughts? thanks again.
Three questions. How often does a warrior have to be healed for their stance to be triggered, and does a HoT help keep this issue in check? Second you listed Critical Hit > Block > Parry. Does that mean you can't block or parry a critical hit? Lastly do you know if Skill Speed increases HoT potency as well as DoT potency? Also thank you for this guide and for scrounging up this information.
Tristramdeliones I'm now thinking the 1st question must only happen when you stance change and that once you have been healed or hit full hp your stance is then working. Hence the combos you listed to heal your self to full HPs once switching.
Hey great vid Xeno. I main PLD and have tried to use the advice you have given in the past to become better and so far so good. But I was wondering if you had any plans to maybe do another tanking vid about PLD?
Nice guide and i apreciate the efford put into it. I found a few points that are outdated from 2.0 or common knowledge to most and simply not mentioned, but still important to know. a few things missing in ability descriptions : Defiance (stance) also increases enmity by each action you perform, making it stronger in grabbing and maintaining hate. Steel cyclone as of 3.0 needs a target now (still is a point blank AoE though, not around your target, so can have anything in target) Decimate needs a target , too (also stays point blank AoE) On rotations: On stunnable mobs, i would be pretty pissed if stun resistance got built up on it just to get a bit more dps in. Its the same for me as Bards using snare when i am summoner because they think it increases damage while all it does in reduce mine (avatar stops attacking)
+Elyza Winter Thx Elyza! However, It should be obvious that Defiance increases threat because its the tanking stance. If I need to mention something like that then that person watching probably shouldnt be playing Warrior. Remember this is not a beginners guide. Steel Cyclone and Decimate do not need a target. You can use the ability while having nothing targeted. Or no enemies around. They simply require 5 stacks, thats it. As far as the stuns, there very few raid mobs that require stuns and in the videos of those raids I mention it :D
+Xenosys Vex Ok, it is safe to ignore my comment about Steel Cyclone needing a target: Obviously i am Stupid! I seem to have put Steel Cyclone and Decimate on one macro for a Test, which had a in it (controller has less readily available slots so macros are a must at some point, even if it's just to switch hotbars during stancedances). Obviously it needs a target that way. So one more good point taken from this Guide: don't be a dumbass macroing 's in abilities that need no target xD
The primed 3 FC rotation: I usually use Vengeance instead of RI to extend the Abandon @ 1s, and then RI to get back to 5 stacks after the FC. Using Vengeance after the pull is only useful is you are actually tanking at that point. If you are OT, it is better to use Vengeance before the pull itself as it'll recover from CD earlier. I usually do something like: Infuriate->Vengeance @1s->pull made ~20s->HS->Brutal->Berserk right @ GCD recovery->FC->Maim->Potion->SE->IR->(BB combo)->FC->Infuriate->FC->Fracture. While the recommendation Xeno makes @35:30 of the video puts off the first FC until the 4th GCD - this rotation does it on the 2nd. Albeit, Xeno's has Maim/SE up for the first FC, which is nice. However, my opener has all of those major CDs up earlier (Infuriate, Berserk, Vengeance, RI etc). Take A1S for example. With my rotation, you get Infuriate up one extra time right at the split. About 1 GCD before split, you wind up landing a FC + Infuriate + FC again all under Maim/SE effect anyway, gaining back that "lost" damage from the first FC w/o SE effect. Just my opinion. Maybe there is some theorycraft behind his rotation making it superior. Great info here though.
+bill stefanko first priority is always getting maim and SE up. No matter what. Because you dont put up maim or SE before berserk you are losing out on a ton of damage. Before you pop zerk you should always have up maim and SE so that every attack you do will be buffed 100%
+Xenosys Vex I'd agree 99% of the time, except in this one A1S corner case. I think by waiting until 5th GCD for your first FC, you get one less FC in before the split and the add's HP is set. So, in theory, while that first non-Maim/SE FC is used, in reality it is @ 200% strength since that extra FC done before the split is more valuable than one after the split. However, nearly any other content, starting triple FC after SE+Maim is best.
+bill stefanko assuming your timing is right, it is still a dps loss not only for you but on the boss as well, the attacks you lose without maim and SE more than make up for one FC(those attacks counting before the split). Plus it completely fucks your opening burst and it screws with your zerk timing throughout the fight because later you will be able to get in 2-3 triple zerk FC by using raw intuition and skipping fracture. The goal is to stay in defiance as little as possible, so burning your CD like that makes you either have to stay in defiance longer, or your healers to do less damage. Also the optimal pull will be the warrior pulling in unchained/deliverance(with nin) so the OT can go ham, that way you have both tanks doing 100% damage and not have to worry about aggro. Obviously there are many ways to tank this, however getting back to your point about the 2-3 gcd faster FC, it is still a dps loss because of Maim and SE not being up until roughly 15 sec of zerk window. At this point you weigh 30% damage vs 230 pot gain? Ill take the damage increase. Thats not including the auto attacks that are missing the 30% damage either. You should never look at a fight as "just the opener" thats bad because you still have 4+ minutes of the fight as a whole. you have to look at the whole fight and gauge the dps at the end. Unless there are dps checks it doesnt matter what your dps is at during section A of the fight. What matters is the fight as a whole, downtime included. I guess my point is, to my knowledge, it will never be a damage increase without maim and eye being applied first. Going by your logic fracture should be the first ability used, or maybe i am misunderstanding?
+Xenosys Vex Past the split in A1S, things get complicated. But I have no issues with zerk/triple FC going forward from there. If anything, zerk/cooldowns are all up earlier. Since we are clearing A1S plenty early, I'm going to try it your way. Back when we still in progression, I did do it your way (prime boss with SE, then triple FC) and my parses were showing me anywhere from 1000-1500 dmg lower (in comparison) before the split because of the one less FC (I think) that would be sneaked in before the split (if using first FC on 2nd GCD). The way my GCD work out is about 5s before split, I have FC/Infuriate/FC - all under Maim/SE obviously. I was personally seeing a DPS gain up to the split. And for arguments' sake (this A1S business is getting strictly academic now), any damage performed in Phase 1 is technically double damage since every point of HP you take off then is 2 points you don't take off later. In phase 2 (split to jump), still get in a zerked-triple FC, and I think that due to my popping all my CDs a little earlier in the opener, I wind up with Infuriate coming up right before that jump (another FC) as opposed to Infuriate coming up during the jump where it sits unused for a while before you can safely use it w/o stacks wearing off before land. However, with all that said, since A1S is trivial for my group, I am going to try it the way you recommend. You know how once you are comfortable with a fight, it is easy to change things up. I can probably move all my stuff back by 3 GCDs and see if the difference in CDs/FC-usage winds up being a bonus. In regards to your question, I apply Fracture at the end of the triple FC rotation. Sometimes latency messes up that last GCD. I"d rather risk losing Fracture than the zerk'd 3rd FC due to pacification. Might not be best practice, but since I'm on the cusp of skill speed, sometimes I'm just a few ms short on that last zerk'd GCD.
Xeno keeping the WAR playerbase on the right track. Keep the axe arm strong. It's a bummer seeing you as an Au Ra. I feel that your Highlander was a big part of your in-game identity.
There is one thing i would suggest looking into for all Warriors, although it may result in a slight drop in DPS it may actually improve your DPS on a whole as well as your threat control due to the mechanics of the system. Consider Playing around with and utilizing Your non-essential/low duration (main order I would suggest is Brutal swing>Equilibrium>Raw Intuition>the 90 secs), to act as an animation break for Butchers block, Storms Eye and Storms path. Doing this will register the effect sooner meaning you will have the ability to utilize more time on your Berserk DPS, as well enable faster hit registration on the server side enabling higher Threat and dps on a whole. This will also enable you to help bipass some effects such as Blighted sooner to enable you to put out slightly more damage all around.
BlackenSerpent It's been disproven that animation breaking with an OFF-GCD doesn't work. It registers the animation and the damage number sooner on your monitor but server side the original ability you animation cancelled will always come out first.
Taru TV it isn't that it speeds up the total animation time, but it does cut down the animation for BB/SE a bit, enabling it to register on the server side faster. The total animation time is the same though. This is something i was noticing happening with T13 when picking up the shadows. If this was recently fixed or changed i hadn't seen it, I was basing this off of my personal experience though. So it may not bipass effects light Blighted but it does seem to free you in some respects. I look at it in the same respects as weaving in surecast or SC for baiting your Cure/FS proxs on BLM/WHM
what do you think about paladin and dark knight? would be nice to see a few guides for them, even if they arent as detailed seeing as how warrior seems to be your main job.
What do you think of the triple fell cleave opener? Better or worse? Heavy Swing- Brutal Swing- Maim- Storm's Eye- Heavy Swing- Skull Sunder- Internal Release- Butcher's Block- Potion- Heavy Swing- Berserk- Fell Cleave- Infuriate- Fell Cleave- Maim- Raw Intuition- Storm's Eye- Heavy Swing- Maim- Brutal Swing- Storm's Eye- Fracture- Fell Cleave-
evotech I dont like waiting so long for zerk. If you wait that long you cant take advantage of raid buffs like litany or TA. Also you can get triple fell cleave just by waiting before the pull and popping Raw
Hey Xeno, in the Info Box i saw you are focusing on the Ukonvasara instead of Gordian Axe. Are you not loosing too much Skillspeed? Great Guide by the way :)
As Pld I respect warriors and I'm glad they got buffed.I love when you go man man mode xeno.I was hoping Pld got a dps stance with 2 swords like when Ravon(I may be saying it wrong) did it but it ain't meant to happen and I'm ok with it
Hey Xeno. Do you ever use the "Parse Potency Amounts" option in ACT? I think it would be a great tool to use when comparing the damage of rotations since gear will always be update and the actual dps won't matter at all. Maybe you could post your potency per second on your rotations as well just for comparison? It looks like it is accurate enough by the small tests I've done. (It doesn't count any crits or RNG, but does count buffs like Berserk.)
wiz123ful I dont go by potencies very often because there are a lot of factors to consider when determining damage. For the most part i dont care too much about what an ability potency is i care more about the potential an ability has with self buffs and CD's. maybe i think about shit weird? haha
Xenosys Vex Oh, nono, you're totally right, but the point with parsing potency is only to ignore the gear and stat scaling, which will be changed in future updates anyways. The parser still counts buffs and cds. For example if you have Maim up, all the poitencies will practically be boosted by 20%, and the parser will include that. The only thing the parser is ignoring is stats. So it will pretty much iLevel synch everyone to the same damage, but still show the effectiveness of your rotation including buffs. If the parser calculates everything correctly of course.
hey xeno. great guide man. i got a question for you though about internal release, infuriate, and berserk. Do you use these on cooldown or you wait for berserk? ive been asking ppl on my server and some say use them as they come but some say to save IR and infuriate for the berserk window. just wanna get your opinions on it and reasoning. again appreciate the guide man. keep fell cleaving everything lol
hey Eli, always save that shit to line up with Zerk, unless there is a part in the fight with more than a minute of downtime. If there is more than a minute than feel free to us IR and infuriate together and double FC or other stack abilities. The highest dps a warrior can do is when zerk is going, and getting as many Fell cleaves in during that window as possible.
Would it be possible for you to go into hard differences and preferences for both of the two tanks? Watching MrHappy's left a sour taste in my mouth, due to the fact he pretty much immortalized the Warrior like some god. Coming from a level 51 Paladin player, I'd like to see what you think.
***** Warr and pld are both really good IMO. I think drk is good as well, but they need a slight buff in the CD department to be on par with the other two. Ultimately you should play what you have the most fun playing. A lot of people dont think plds have very good dps, and this only true if you dont try and push limits or you close minded in thinking that tanking in this game is tradional. Sword oath is one of the best DPS stances in the game and is very underated. Tanking in sword oath is definitely possible and should always be done unless you need your CDs for something. I have seen some very impressive damage from plds and there is no reason why people should not utlize all of their CDs and DPS capabilities. Right now the tanking meta is about dealing damage. And in this case it is harder or more clunky to accomplish this with pld. DRK/War will always deal a lot more damage than pld in their tanking stance so this is why pld have been pushed aside in most groups. Also, the best dps comp is NIN/DRG, so with a drk you dont a monk. everything can be accomplished with pld monk just fine though. People just have to be on their A game.
Thanks for the 3.x update although a bit late! I don't have time to actually work out the math on a lot of these things (although it hasn't changed much besides the new abilities). I'm just curious when you use awareness more. I don't really know the ideal times to use it since I don't notice most abilities critting anyway beyond auto attacks. Any advice is much appreciated.
+democlese Awareness usage just really depends. I try and use it out of defiance because it caps the damage the recieve. Or sometimes if im tanking multiple things that surround me or when mobs push eachother i pair it up with raw intuition.
Hey quick question. What type of food are you running? Right now I running Kaiser rolls, then realized Parry wasn't doing much so I was thinking Morel Salads (since I'm a cheap ass). If you get to this, Thanks! Also, I think I ran with ya in a Void Ark run not too long ago. Think it was like Three NINS. I was the only Warrior. Twas fun to see ya in action!
+Philip “ナズ” Livingston I normally use Flint Cavier but for prog or try hard shit i use Baked Pipira Pira, even though i dont need the acc. I try and get as much crit as possible. The other non acc food doesnt have as high Crit. Even both secondaries dont add up to the amount of crit the cavier/pira does so thats why i like it.
Great guide! Just two things: Didn't determination get nerfed so that it no longer effects auto attacks? I remember hearing that somewhere.. And what do you think of the 4 fell cleave opener as off-tank, you open with a fell cleave as your first GCD after waiting for infuriate to tick down and then proceed to do a 3 fell cleave berserk. I've only tested it a few times, but it seems to be a slight increase in dps (going off of a 3 min parse).
JavySempai Det still affects auto attacks, just not as much. but you are able to gain more det on each piece of gear. that is reason for the change. so it balanced it not really nerfed it. 4 FC i dont like because you use one fell cleave unbuffed by main zerk or eye, then you have to manually build back up 5 stacks which takes like 20 sec, so you actually dont use zerk until around 228 sec in which is horrible. unless im missing something?
Xenosys Vex I think that in a prolonged fight the 4 fell cleave opener would be an increase in dps, since it's the same as a regular 3 fell cleave opener but with a slight delay and an extra unbuffed fell cleave. However, if there is a need to use zerk right in the beginning (to time the future zerkers in the fight so that the boss doesn't become untargetable when its back up, or if there is a dps check right at the start of the encounter), then the immediate 3 fell cleave opener is probably better.
No need to use zerk is a mistake right there lol. I dont think there has ever been a time playing this game when i need to hold off on zerk for longer than 4-8 seconds. doesnt matter how long the fight is because doing it your way also loses an entire zerk activation depending on the fight because of phase changes or bosses jumping. not sure if your testing on a dummy but Dummy parses can be very misinforming . delaying your zerk also misses all the buffs from ninja drg and mch in their opener which is a huge dps loss
After you do the main rotation for tanking do you just repeat it again or do you have cool downs to wait for and just do basic combos till they back up? I am a warrior and so used to ff 11 I am having trouble getting used to this.
Xeno def thanks for all your help with warrior class and for putting out another great video. i do have a question though i feel that stacking crit over det has been helping with dps more so then the other way around any thoughts on this?
Thank you for the WAR guide, thanks to this vid, I was able to carry my team to victory after hours of wipes to P8S!
xffing
this is so nice to watch mr. cute strummer has come a long way peepoCute peepoSit
"If your healers cannot heal you through auto attacks, then unfortunately, you may need to find new healers."
Harsh, but truth.
Nothing harsh about it.

Why am I still watching this video with full attention when the game doesn't even work this way anymore? Regardless, this is a fantastic guide. As tank main, I wish I had played FFXIV back in Heavensward when tanking looks so interesting compared to today (6.4).
here to watch my fav job when it was at it's prime, and made me love to push my limits in-game.
one day, one day...
Thanks for actually making this detailed guide. it really rekindled my love for my WAR and gave me something to improve on.
I really enjoyed not only the content but your approach.
one of the best guides about any playing style I have ever seen.... great job
I learn something every single time I watch this video. Thank you for creating such a comprehensive style guide.
Fantastic Guide as always Xenosys. Though I don't personally play Warrior it is nice enough to see someone who is as deeply connected to helping other players do as well as they possibly can as you have been; both now and in your 2.XX guides. Keep it up
Excellent stuff. Not only excellent, but also useful as hell.
Keep up the great work !
Having played WoW for 9 years dose.... NOTHING for helping me with this game.... You guides are very helpful and I am glad I found your channel
Thank you so much for the time and effort you put into making this guide!
Great stuff. I implemented a lot of the rotation and approach and saw an instant DPS increase.
Been waiting for this. Thanks for the great guide, my man! Really appreciate it.
The Sarg tank legacy continues.
Awesome guide that'll help me continue to improve as a WAR. I just wish more folks followed this philosophy.
+Michael Oosting Damn man thats awesome!I really appreciate that and glad you found the vids resourceful :D
i've been looking for a warrior tank guide and this is it! thank you!
Hey man.. Ive been waiting for your guide for quite a while since your last warrior guide.. I would like to thank you for the time and effort making this guide. The last guide helped a lot and this one is even better!! Keep up the good work!!
Huge thanks again..
Subscribed because your AWESOME !!! and also because the nuclear clip on how bad ass fell cleave is was absolutely the BEST !! I agree 100%
Great video, extremely informative than the other videos I've seen, I was hoping to use this method with my GLD (stat only not the skills obviously) but further watching your video I see that it will not work for GLD and so I become a warrior, Thank you, this video is very much needed for noobs like me.
Deliverance is love. Deliverance is life.
fellcleave is love
double fellcleave is life
Triple Fellcleave or gtfo
Double Decimate is even sexier
Triple that Decimate bro!
If tanking becomes any more braindead in 6.0 im going dps feelsbad
you wont need to go dps, tank will already be dps if it gets any more simple
Finally!!!! Let me get the popcorn.
God I remember when the game was like this and I watched this to try and be a stance dancing op tank...now it is always one style! Lol
Remember when the game actually had depth? Different approaches with the same kit, with pros and cons that could be heavily manipulated to your advantage. A risk VS. reward factor. A skill ceiling so high that a tank could do more damage than the average DPS. A real factor of minmaxing and customization.
wow i cant even believe i watched the full video xD
nice job really good information AND entertaining actually :D i tend to lose focus on long guides but i was srsly interested the whole time and had even fun!! xD nice video xeno
The video that started it all. God bless you for this and changing the meta forever.
haha thx man. old days
Awesome video! I've been playing warrior for a while but never thought to do some things you suggest in the video. Definitely a great video to watch after taking some time away from the game.
Also great insight into understanding the stance dance and when/where/how it is utilized.
Cheers!
Damn been waiting for this guide since 2.55
Thanks for all the help Xeno, I really learned a lot from your guides. Idk if you remember but I ran normal Alex with your alt about a month back. I didn't think it was actually you at the time but when I saw your stream yesterday I realized it was lmao.
Rest in peace, Warrior. You will be missed.
Great vid bro. This definitely will help me improve my game as WAR has been, and always will be, my main class.
+Veritas VII Warrior 4 life yo!
Share this video to save a life! Thanks for the great guide, very useful information for those of us returning after being gone for a while.
Dude, I am maining WHM but hell, I wish I would main war play it like you do. Probably the best war I have yet seen in this game, too bad I am on a different server I'd give you a greeting lol.
Dude this video kicks ass. I thought I knew warrior, sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet.... now I know more.
Not using Berserk enough, and totally avoiding it because of the nasty debuff it leaves after it wears off.
just got 46, not much i can do atm cant wait to get them levels and start teaching myself this awesome vid xeno
been waiting for this to improve that man mode tanking! thx xeno!
Wow. I thought i was a reasonably okish Warrior. How wrong was I! Right, back to the drawing board. Awesome video and epic tips. Thank you for the guide!
You are one of the sickest tanks. I normally don't even bother commenting on stuff like this, but kudos dude
This is supposed to be meant as a compliment, correct? xD
/bow
Second Wind and Equillibrium are effected by Berserk. You can pop Berserk + Second Wind + Equillibrium for a massive self heal.
Awesome video Xeno!
I am pretty sure your UI isn't set up to maximize efficiency. puu.sh/jl6yd.jpg I find is the best UI I could make.
I need this in my life.
Jared Brisky Even your UI is Fell Cleabin'!!
+Jared Brisky max efficiency is subjective though tbh, what might be great for you, something else might produce the same results for others
+Jeff Slaughter however i just lel'd at that UI, MOAR FELL CLEAVE
You Sir !, make me going back to tank with war after watching this. Thank you for the vid
Thank you for helping me earn my way more into Valhalla brother!
Xeno, thanks for a great guide. I appreciate the time and effort that went into this video. Thanks,
Thx for this awsome guide.
I love that parse of A2 . Everybody is getting good numbers.
Amazing guide. Thank you for doing it to us.
Renan Biazotti he, DID it to you? Wow he just did if for me. He must have really gave you the Warrior D.
I wanted to display it as the safer way, given the huge differences in people connection, I can safe say though that with selene I never have a problem hitting it :D
hey xenosys just wanted to say you're an amazing warrior. watching your videos made me not completely suck at tanking. that said I was wondering if you're ever going to a dark knight video as you once did for paladin. don't get me wrong warrior is fun but I like day knight more but sadly I have nothing to go on but people doing parodies of the class. if someone like you did a video I'd atleast have someone credible to go off of
+Xenosys Vex I second this request please!
Wow thats awesoem man, and thx! I do plan to make one, i just need to get more comfortable with the job haha.
+Xenosys Vex I look forward to it
I concur for a dark knight guide! BTW What is the Metal Remix of Ultima in the background?
Thanks very much for this guide realy help me to improve my playstyle
man this video is almost 10 years old now its a classic 👍
Appreciate this video, always making me better man I thank you, hope I run into you on the server again as well
Can't thank you enough for the time and effort put onto this guide. It's improved my tanking capabilities as a warrior 120% Do you ever plan on doing a DRK guide by any chance? Also your Pally guide was legit as well. I encourage any aspiring tanks to come to these guides. :)
22:51 lol!!!!!!!😂😂😂 nigga u got my side hurtin I can't stop the tears from my laughter lol!!!!
that ultima weapon remix from your opening is amazing
***** yea! make sure to check out bens channel in the description, he has some other cool songs as well :D
Otherwise great guide! It helped me a lot when I first watched it, I'm checking it again now that I'm more familiar with stuff.
loved using these pointers back when I used to play ff14.
With this in mind, I have two little questions that I would like to ask you:
Thanks for this Xeno.
FellCleaveBot approves of the message.
Dan Smith ALL MUST ADHERE TO FELL CLEAVE BOT
Xenosys Vex and it's 5000 potency hotfix soon
thanks again for the great guide Xeno. I was wondering if you were going to make a 3.0 version and YOU DELIVERED. I have one question. It feels petty, but here goes. In your rotation at 33:50, can you reslot that first brutal swing to be between the first eye > heavy swing? I know it just hurts the soul to hold it that long but that way you get your maim on it... plus you can reuse it during pacification. your thoughts? thanks again.
jason blood Hey thx jason! nah you dont want to hold onto it because you get another activation of BS with zerk pot maim and SE so its worth it :D
I found a few points that are outdated from 2.0 or common knowledge to most and simply not mentioned, but still important to know.
a few things missing in ability descriptions :
Defiance (stance) also increases enmity by each action you perform, making it stronger in grabbing and maintaining hate.
Steel cyclone as of 3.0 needs a target now (still is a point blank AoE though, not around your target, so can have anything in target)
Decimate needs a target , too (also stays point blank AoE)
On rotations:
On stunnable mobs, i would be pretty pissed if stun resistance got built up on it just to get a bit more dps in.
As far as the stuns, there very few raid mobs that require stuns and in the videos of those raids I mention it :D
that is odd, my steel cyclone requires a target all the time. must be the fact I use controller probably :/
Hmmm yea, im not sure. I play on pc with a mouse and keyboard so i cant be sure :/
+Elyza Winter yea that explains it. i dont use macros haha. so i wouldnt know about that
Good stuff man !
I usually do something like:
Infuriate->Vengeance @1s->pull made ~20s->HS->Brutal->Berserk right @ GCD recovery->FC->Maim->Potion->SE->IR->(BB combo)->FC->Infuriate->FC->Fracture.
Anxiously awaiting the Paladin one.
you need to make a 4.x updated guide, this video is pretty godlike. love you stream and keep it up
Oohhh I like this video makes me actually want to take Warrior to lvl 60
It's so worth it man, coming from someone who just recently got it to 60. Easily one of my favorite classes, tied with Drg
BlackenSerpent
It's been disproven that animation breaking with an OFF-GCD doesn't work.
+Tim4444444 yea ukon is slightly better. and you are still able to hit the 9 hit zerk easy :D
Great guide. Really makes me feel in awe to those crits the War can do. Will you be updating your Paladin guide for HW?
Good shit man !
+Xenosys Vex Thanks for the reply. That's pretty much all I could come up with too. Wish it lasted 20 seconds like raw intuition though.
22:42 this was so iconic at the time, this has to be how whm players felt when misery was added
+Xenosys Vex Alright cool, I knew something with it. Good to know about this. Thanks again!
Well I am impressed with this video
I'm going to show you how badass this thing really is! *nuke goes off* I laughed so hard on that.:)
Mike Fernandez yea mike i also go with crit>det. I think it is slightly better given the naturally higher crit % on WAR
